I happen to be a "salmon shorts" wearing Connecticut Yankee..... and subscriber to your channel. I wanted to express that I thoroughly enjoy watching all that you do. Whether it's power washing a junkyard rescue, performing a "Will it run?" or travelling our magnificent country with such great enthusiasm to learn all of what is out there (Especially you, Josh). Best of all, you do it all together, with great humor, as a family. For these truths, you possess wealth greater than many. Even greater than some of those folks living in fancy pants homes along the RI and CT shoreline. Thank you for taking us along on this fun filled and educational family adventure!! Wishing you continued success in all that you do! BTW: I'm also a proud wearer of a "Sleeperdude" T-Shirt! 👍You are represented in Fairfield County! Best.

I’m the one who worked at the truck stop you stopped at in Carlisle Pa. (Scotland) I am originally from Bakersfield Ca and lived in Houston, Dallas and Grand Prairie Tx. Moved here to Pa in 1992. I always tell family out west that the East coast is a whole different world. Once you get south of Md on the east coast things get a lot more “normal”. My house was built in 1880. All my floors sag and I have to use wedges under some furniture to level it out. You would be surprised to see my stairs. There are farm houses in my area that date back to the early 1700’s. There are a few local developments that will have an old farm house in the middle of the development. The farmer will pass away and the kids sell the land to a developer. The old farm house is usually fixed up and then the land gets developed. Sad thing is, these new warehouses going in have taken away a lot of the farmland and many of the old homes away. Some of the old stone houses will have up to 24” thick walls. I’ve even seen a couple of the old stone houses picked up and moved. I don’t know how they do it with the size and weight of the house.

One summer I worked helping to renovate a carriage house into a house. At the Peter Allen house in dauphin PA. I mainly helped the stone mason put in a doorway and build a patio. You're right. The walls seemed to be over 2ft thick. The stone mason, a true artist. Knew how to play Jenga taking out certain stones, putting on supports, cutting stone to fit. Looked like the carriage house was originally built with it. Summer I'll never forget. Sad a lot of farm land is going away for warehouses 😢

Thank you once again for taking the time to film your vacation. I know how difficult it is to do, plus try to enjoy yourself also. It means the world to me being 57 and becoming disabled 5 years ago. I cannot walk distances at all. And you showed me so much that I had wanted to see when I retired but I can't do to my disability. And because of you I can see it. I know it's nothing like being in person. Too bad you don't feel in 3D lol I can sit in front of the 65-in screen with 3D glasses on. You and marjor excellent parents. Your kids will grow up very blessed. Keep up the great work! I've been following you before you started putting out long videos. Most of your videos were under 10 minutes long when I first found your channel. I'm looking forward to seeing your New York and DC adventure. Through school my daughter was able to go to DC on a class trip in the 7th grade. And then on her choir trip in high school she got to go to New York City. And we were able to send our daughter to England to visit my sister for 3 weeks when she was in 5th grade. So at least my daughter got to see things that I wanted to. Sorry for the long post but I am that appreciative for what you do. I also like your western trip very very much. Don't ever think that you and your family don't deserve trips like this because you do. And I sure felt your back pain today when you said L4. Don't ever let them fuse your back not unless it's the absolute last resort. My first fusion was L4 to S1 at the age of 42. At the age of 43 I had double hip replacements. At the age of 50 a right knee replacement and a 52 they fused me from T12 to L4 And I never recovered from it. Osteoarthritis. Plus hard manual labor. Again, keep up the great work!!

When I was a civilian sailor working on Yachts after the Navy, one of my favorite places to visit was Boston. We would visit there after spending the winter down in the Caribbean, and to start the summer season in New York and Massachusetts. We used to dock at the Constitution Marina or behind the Ramada Inn by Faneuil Hall. We could walk everywhere, and get AMERICAN FOOD!!!

As a Brit, Boston looks like some parts of any city here in the UK. Its actually kinda eerie looking at Georgian architecture in the US, I've never really seen it outside of the UK at all. Not sure if it really is or not but the big well/vent thing might actually be an ice hole. Things similar to that are very common over here, back in the 1700/1800s the only way to get ice in any large capacity was to ship it in and as it arrives in the cities they needed to store it to stop it melting so they would dig huge holes in the ground, line them with stone and store the ice in them, the ice cools the stone which cools the room and keeps the ice from melting too fast.

What great family vacations. Your kids will remember these trips for the rest of their lives. This is some gold level parenting you guys. Josh your apprehension is valid. New York can be a scary place, this happens when you jam six million people in such a small area. The wealth disparity between the rich and poor is only separated by a block or two. One wrong turn and you’ve entered an area that you shouldn’t be in. I know that you guys will be ok because you’re always aware of your surroundings. Hope the kids garner nothing more than a positive experience from the trip.👍🇨🇦

@@larrydixon-vi7ld Yes Sleeperdude is a great leader in the save the wagons movement. I have loved the American station wagons the age of 9. my family has always owned at least one all my life. my current wagon is a 1957 Oldsmobile 88 Fiesta I bought in 1985. She has just over 110,000 miles on it and our family has been form Ohio up to Canada and down to Florida and Texas. Other than one flat tire in Florida and replaced one front wheel bearing at a scenic overview parking lot in the Tennessee mountains it has never let us down. We always have a spare fuel pump, generator, starter, water pump and a full set of wheel bearings our tools and a 5 horsepower air compressor in a small trailer we take along on all the long out of state trips. My dad has always told me that it is better have and not need than to need and not have.

@raymondsmith7993 I have owned a few myself , bought a 1958 chevy biscayne wagon for $1500 348ci 3on the tree in 2002 ,perfect patina , didn't even have it for sale, and people were dri ING me nuts trying to buy it , finally said make me a stupid offer and I might consider it, guy says I'm not giving a penny more than 5k , needless to say he owns it now , had a 93 and 94 Caprice wagon at the same time , one with wood grain and plain , plain one I bought for $900 at a new car store , wholesale . Woodgrain , I paid $1600 at another new car store , wholesale. I was a used car dealer from 2001 till 2004 . I didn't have either one for sale just driving and enjoying them , a guy stops one day at my lot and asked if I would trade both for a 1996 Buick Roadmaster wagon that had 36k miles , documented. I asked why would you want to trade such a great car for my 2 over a hundred k miles and he said well I don't really like the looks of the Buick as much as the Chevy and my wife wants her own wagon also , so we traded and I honestly think I got the better end . I loved that Buick , put aftermarket wheels , dual exhaust, limo tint all the way around, I had a buddy make real wood inserts with flames in different kind of veneers, it was just awesome looking , I was at super chevy in ennis that year in the car , people were loving it , taking pictures , the whole nine , as I was leaving a guy said , I gave to have that car , how much ? Not for sale ! I'll trade you a 2000 Corvette and boot , you've got my attention, how much boot ? How much you thinking was his response, I popped off 5k , he said 4k and I no longer owned a beautiful Buick wagon

I know you were already in NYC before you posted today's video, and I prayed for you and your family to be safe. Another option for points of interest, fuel stops, restaurants, lodging, and camping is the stand alone Gramin RV 890 Series GPS. These models of their GPS allow you to identify whether you are driving the family car, a pickup/van/motorhome, or towing a travel trailer/fifth wheel. The points highlighted along the route are sensitve to the vehicle that you have selected as your mode of travel. You also have a wide selection of routing preferences. I have used one of these GPS units for many years, and actually prefer it to the built-in model in my car.
I admire you and your wife exposing your children to the wonders of travel in this beautiful country. My father was a reluctant traveler so it was up to my mother when it came to vacations and she was fearful of travel to the Eastern cities so our travels were limited to the states west of the Mississippi. While I had several opportunities as an adult to make the Northeastern cities, I waited to long as I am now retired and my health will not permit the walking involved in touring many of these Northeastern sites. Your children are going to have great memories that will last them their lifetimes!
