I know Irix on VRChat, he's a pretty cool guy. He originally created the Taidum because he wanted something similar to the awtter avatar that he could put on an avatar pedestal. Something you can't do with the awtter.
He saw my taidum art on Discord and loved it. Called them "awesome" lol

Hello I'm a close friend of irix and one of the people who was there when the Taidum was in beta. He gave me the Avatar when it was still being worked on to see if it worked in desktop mode because in desktop it holds its arms up in front so I think people in desktop mode can see what hand gesture they're making

If you're looking for another topic for Species of the Furry Fandom, I recently found out that Ampwaves are a thing. I'm not sure if their lore and rules have been fully set in stone but they are very interesting.

The only thing that’s really unfortunate about taidums is they are great for quest; just like the awtters, is that they don’t do super well with full body.
just gonna mention there is a avatar world with free taidums, they have added some christmas themed avatars. They have a reindeer and grinch taidum. I have a puro taidum in my avatar favorites.

I have a few ideas for a species but I don't know how to start & where to make them

Have some advice from a random person on the internet:
Try putting your ideas into some easily editable text (so into a word document or whichever similar thing you are most familiar with) and then let them go through a refinement process. So start by figuring out the species' most defining feature(s) and then go from there, constructing a loose framework of how an average member of the species may look and behave. Whenever you come across details, you don't immediately have an idea for, brainstorm some stuff, throw it in there and see what actually ends up feeling right (if a concept sounds particularly cool, but doesn't fit for the established species, note it down elsewhere as inspiration for a different species).
Once you've got a framework you think you're happy with, you can test it by creating individuals of that species, which may lead to further refinements of the framework to keep the results sensible by your own standards.
Hope this little wall of text turns out to be helpful.

@@codeunbreakable2791 Well, I'm afraid I have the exact same amount of experience as you do on that front (probably even less), as I only ever got to the point of having the words written in a file on my pc and the imagination in my head to bring those concepts to life, so this is where my wisdom ends and all I can say is: I wish you good luck and don't get stressed, as there is no time limit on a creative process like this, aside from one's own impatience.
