"The Singer" is returning on 1st January 2018 and this year's singers are both versatile and international! This episode's line-up would be: Chinese Rock Singer - Wang Feng, Actress Singer - Angela Chang, Super STAR - Jessie J, Taiwanese Singer - Sam Lee, Chinese Folk singer - Li Xiaodong, New Singer Juno and Hua Chenyu
Singer 2018 is the second season of Chinese television series Singer, a rebranded version of I Am a Singer that will air on Hunan Television. It is produced by Hong Tao, and its music director is Hong Kong senior musician Kubert Leung.

I was initially confused why Jessie J was a contestant on this show. But then I realized, Jessie J is one of the most underrated artist in the US/UK. It was a smart move for her to get more fans in the Asian market and I'm glad she won. She deserves much more success.
What exactly were you confused about? This is a competition for celebrity singers, not regular people. Also, this is a show that airs in the Chinese markets, not in any other Asian countries.

This performance was PERFECT from start to finish but I am especially mesmerized by how she hit 3:42 and 4:19 with such precision. Those delicate, airy notes... her control is just out of this world.

For those of you who are here bc of Mulan. Jessie J competed in a very popular singing competition in China, comprised of a select list of very well known chinese/international (usually asian) singers, and won.

This is a competition show where all the contestants are professional and well known singers. It's just that they are mostly Chinese since it's a Chinese show. Voting for the winner it entirely up to the audience. 500 audience members are the judges.
This was not a competition this was her show, I saw her live in silver spring Maryland, she is astounding. Period! She does not need a singing competition to prove that.
Seeing Jessie J perform reflection here reminds me of her live performance of Who You Are at the Volkswagen garage sound. If you haven’t seen that specific live performance yet, I highly recommend it! I bawled my eyes out listening to her speech and how she came to writing Who You Are. When I’m lost in my path I go back to watch that video and find encouragement.
