Scarlet Lady Cruise Vlogs Ep 1 - Embarkation and Initial Thoughts of this NEW CRUISE LINE!!

- When Virgin Voyages first cruise ship Scarlet Lady started her cruises from Portsmouth, we thought that they were definitely not the cruise line for us. We are a married couple in our late 50's and this cruise line is definitely not targeted at our age group.
They also made the bold statement that they would revolutionise cruising, which did intrigue us. The cruises were for only 4 nights and with the cruise line normally being based in the US, it was a rare opportunity. So we thought what have we got to lose, and booked it. Worse case scenario was that if we don't like it we just won't cruise with them again.
In our first episode we experience embarkation the Virgin way and let you know our initial thoughts! Are we too old for Virgin?
We cruised on the Scarlet Lady in August 2021.

Love you both! Those Virgin cabins just seem a close cousin to 1970's Soviet furnishings. They just seem so utilitarian and drab. Maybe they are better in real life as you suggest. Keep travelling! We love your videos and love every moment you share!

The Wake food looked wonderful, definitely somewhere I'd be happy to eat. I think the cabin looks a bit sparse but I liked the technology.

Loved your vlog - am very undecided about Scarlet Lady - one part of me is really;y wanting to try it, and the other part, says, stay away - so, very much looking forward to watching all of your series, then making my mind up.
I think I am of the opinion at the moment - before Paul even said it, that maybe Virgin have just changed things around so much, different terms, different bits and pieces, just for the sake of it...but, we shall see.

Thanks Terry! Virgin are certainly different and we felt exactly like you before we decided to book. We are so glad we did though as it was great fun. Valiant Lady Virgins next ship is doing some short cruises next March which would be a good taster!
Looking forward to seeing the scarlet lady series. But have to say, not sure if I like the cabins on the vergin ships, looks a bit like Travelodge rooms.. But then I've heard bad reviews of The MSC Cruise's, beautiful ship, amazing interiors, but rude staff, shouting at clients and poor food.. Thanks for sharing your experience with us all, helps us to choose the right cruise in the near future.. Xx 😊 ❤️

i live in portsmouth so when you are next there let me know .i can also tell you probably why you didnt sailaway until 7 am is the tides . i know the waters there and parts are very shallow ,even to the NAB tower . so i expect you could only go at high tide xxxxxx

The time to play kit killed me... I recently did Mayan Sol from Miami during its initial season last year (Nov/Dec 21). I couldn't even believe they'd put it in the cabin.... but I guess, better safe than sorry 🤣

@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel the cruise was wonderful. I'm a cruise veteran from a young age, kind of like Emma cruises :P, so it was very different. But I just went with an open mind. Only disappointment was, and it ain't the cruise line's fault, I'm not sure if I went at an off time or what, but nighttime was absolutely dead... most were in bed after dinner & the average age felt much older than any cruise I've been on before! Surprised me a lot. Had a wonderful time none the less, and Bimini was stunning, as is Costa Maya, but I've been here many times before.

@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel the price tag.. not a lot of people in their 20’s/30’s will be able to justify almost €1700 for 5 night cruise.. higher if they want a “sea terrace”.
That's true. In comparison the prices for the UK cruises are a bargain!

I read a lot of comments saying that there vey loud music everywhere snd that you cant relax on thé sundeck reading a book
Also some poeple saying theres a lot of disturbing behavior

There is loud music everywhere. We didn't witness any disturbing behaviour. This is definitely a different cruise experience and wouldn't recommend it for a first cruise.

It is certainly a party cruise, but you will never feel pressured to join in! Would definitely avoid Never Sleep Alone but do go to Dual Reality if they are still doing those shows!

Would recommend booking everything as we got turned away a lot! Wake is particularly popular!
Just catching up with your vlogs… you do make me laugh… Not sure I’d like this ship, though.. … everything seems to have a bit of a focus on being a bit smutty… Also… no masks? Did you feel ok about that?
Thanks Lou. It was strange at first with the masks, but then it became quite liberating lol!
Wow you did not get your cabin until gone 1600 hrs? very late. Noticed you both did not have to wear masks while walking and staff wore masks incorrectly, not over nose. A cruise line that I would not trust. I thought the pizzas look awful. Not a patch on Princess’s Alfredo’s Pizzeria, best in the world thin crust.
It has been 4pm with a few other cruiselines too. The mask debate goes on, we often get asked, why with cruising if you have all tested negative prior to getting on the ship what is the difference with walking or bieng sat at a table, masks not needed at a table, as long as distance is maintained.....lots of difference in opinion.
Virgin Voyages is gimmicky.
It is but great fun too!
