    Thousands of miles above Earth, satellites circle the planet. Some have encrypted battlefield commands fed through them that help to guide forces on the ground. Space has become a crucial component of military options and the need for countries to expand their space capabilities has grown in importance.

      OsamaBinObama Yes, a lot of country’s and people do want peace, it’s just we can’t have it right now because of Russia, China, North Korea etc. We wouldn’t have a military if there was no threat to the UK, but, unfortunately, there are a lot of threats to the UK right now...

      OsamaBinObama oof get you,
      We need an army to ensure peace is keep,
      It’s the same with police if we don’t have them nothing will stop someone from going into your home and talking everything from you, but if we do have a police force there’s suddenly a force that is there to protect you and your property from people that what to do harm to you.
      This hole idea of a mass military industrial complex doesn’t apply to Britain hell we don’t even buy new equipment much anymore so there’s little profit to be made from the British armed forces.

    A lot has to be said about the British Government's lack of space funding. Skylon could have been operational over 10 years ago.

    • @Whiskey2shots
      @Whiskey2shots 5 лет назад

      Skylon has always been a rather dated concept, and will probably never fly. also, it isn't a British government project, its a private project, so not the government's responsibility.

    • @BRENDANGOSS1974
      @BRENDANGOSS1974 5 лет назад

      Whiskey2shots I disagree. I’d say the two “new” aircraft carriers we have are dated platforms. If Skylon was flying now it would be the only one of its kind. If the US government can fund NASA then the UK could do the same. Britain did until the early 50s when they cancelled our space program for good. Just when it was on the brink of putting a man in Space. 10 years before the Russians. I do agree that Skylon might never fly though.

    • @Whiskey2shots
      @Whiskey2shots 5 лет назад

      @@BRENDANGOSS1974 to be clear are you saying that skylon isn't dated? The British space program wasn't really on the verge of putting a man in space, there was a design, yes but it was very unlikely it could work, and at the time there were more important things, like getting black Arrow to fly.

    UK is obliged to praise its satellite industry, and it is indeed important and successful. But without launch capability, which it had in the 1950s and then gave away on a whim (still a principle of UK Government) the nation is not in space. This could easily be remedied by the UK electing to be more than a customer in the European Space Agency. Ironically.

    By the sounds of it launch more military satellites as they ultimate high ground and force multiplier as they dont need to be registered with the UN we need graphene in space considering that as one of our current advances, we need to be aim to make the leaps and bounds that will put us ahead of others, acting objectively. For the money we spend we are quite capable as a nation being in the very middle of the world geographically Wales and Scotland can serve as suitable spaceport locations.

      Trump has done more for the US in 3 years than Obama in his 8 years,
      Just look at unemployment in the US,
      it is at an all time low, the lowest this century infact,
      Love him or hate him you can’t say he doesn’t get results

      Alex B. He’s riding of the success of Obama? You know that highest amount of un employment this century in the US took place under Obama right? And was getting worse near the end of his final years in office.
      We need to get out of this habit of “Orange man bad” that we dug ourselves into and see that even if we don’t agree with some aspects of his presidency he has achieved a good amount off successes in a fair few of his policies,
      Doing anything else will just deepen the all ready massive divide
