How about UK with a crumbling economy fix their 20% poverty rate and it's increasing homeless and hungry population before doing such costly things which doesn't suit for a country like UK
Britain certainly has the brains, but it sorely lacks hi tech manufacturing. Maybe start with a smaller ambition. Like a drone factory that makes money.
What is one of the UK's single biggest issues that prevents the UK from being competitive is their weather alone. The UK will have a fraction of the usable launch days the U.S. has. Not to mention states like Florida are much better positioned for launching space craft into space. Sure, the UK can have a bit of a space industry for satellites. But by no means can it compete with countries like the U.S. The UK should do things for UK businesses. But if they have to try and compete to stay in business, then the UK will likely fail due to many circumstances out of their control. The way this UK space program has to try to stay in business is to try to find a niche market. But on a global scale, the U.S. is many decades ahead.
The UK has a solution for this problem: Ascension Island. This British overseas territory is perfectly placed near the Equator and has already both a space monitoring station and a RAF airbase. The closest you are to the equator, the best. It is mostly the reason why the USA was launching from Florida and France is launching from French Guyana. But yes, as you said both the USA and France are many decades ahead of the UK on space matters.
@@brunol-p_g8800 The only problem with that is that literally everything has to be shipped there by ship. Nothing is made on the Island. So from a financial point of view, it's not really feasible. Everything has to be shipped in across thousands of miles of open ocean. In Florida, everything is right there on site. Everything can be moved in by rail, truck, and ship. Plus the turnaround time is basically instant and won't take a month of travel time like it would with Ascension Island. The location and weather I agree are far better than what the UK has. But it again just creates a whole bunch of new issues trying to compete with the U.S. The U.S. has the holy grail of location, weather, transportation, manufacturing, expertise, money, etc... That's why I hope they aren't looking to "compete" with the U.S. but rather are focusing on core UK-specific needs or wants. Because they won't be able to compete with the U.S. in terms of running a business from a financial view. They can be a secondary backup certainly though for doing much smaller launch applications and trying to find a niche for themselves.
Aircraft lift-off in bad weather all the time and this is an air launched system. And they aren't competing with the US, Virgin is a US company, they are just selling launch sites to various companies.
@@Judah_889@AnthonyDeMello958 All of the EU, Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Iceland, the UK, and more already recognize the U.S. as the world's sole superpower. All countries have poverty. And countries like the UK, for example, have a fast-growing poverty rate due to Brexit. So, the U.S. doesn't need to dream about being a superpower when it already is on the world stage. When it comes to space exploration, the U.S. leads the world. Also, the subject isn't about the U.S. being a superpower but whether or not the UK can compete against the U.S. in the space program. Hence, I said it isn't really possible since the U.S. has geographical, industrial, budget, and other advantages. So the UK is better off finding a niche market and doing things for its own benefit and just trying to help with advancing science in general for the whole world's benefit. The UK can play a role. But it shouldn't be looking at it as a competitive thing so much.
LOL. THERE'S NO ACTUAL MARKET. Demand is mostly fixed and very limited. CNBC: "We're only cheerleaders; we have no idea how economics actually works. Its why we own the Crash of 2008."
The UK manufactures nearly half of all small satellites, and around 25% of larger weather and intelligence ones. That's a large existing market that would probably appreciate not having to pay to ship their kit half way around the world to a launch site.
West = USA ( nothing else, others are just minions piggybacking on NASA ) East = China, India and Russia all working separately on their own Only 1 party in west is in the scene, there are 3 in the East More parties = more chance of new ideas and development poping up somewhere East is going to be in the forefront
From here, US will have a hard time from both China and India. Let me remind you. After 2030, ISS will stop working and Tiangong will be the only space station in space till 2035. During the end of 2035, India will send it's own Space station in space. Then it will be all about India and China in the space war.

Without government money, it's very difficult to do.
Go UK. Love from India.
Go UK to India u mean. Go to India and learn how to do it so it works and costs only 10% of what they do.

They need to look back how many failures had Elon Musk and his SpaceX encountered before what they are now.
Skylon is out sight n out of the topics.
Just getting started
Sure but they best start with flying kites first and study the importance of it needing a tail otherwise well you know it'll go nowhere.
First fix your 20% poverty rate and so many homeless and hungry population before dreaming of being superpower
Shitland?

Go UK
Pen is mightier than sword. Don't fight. What did your teachers and priests tell you?

UK was not even they were powerful. It's impossible because they are weaker and weaker .

Don't forget about the Chinese space program; I hope the West remains on the forefront of space development
West = USA ( nothing else, others are just minions piggybacking on NASA )
East = China, India and Russia all working separately on their own
Only 1 party in west is in the scene, there are 3 in the East
More parties = more chance of new ideas and development poping up somewhere
East is going to be in the forefront
China can't move to the forefront and still be copying everyone else... ;)

From here, US will have a hard time from both China and India. Let me remind you. After 2030, ISS will stop working and Tiangong will be the only space station in space till 2035. During the end of 2035, India will send it's own Space station in space. Then it will be all about India and China in the space war.
