    Nice tutorial. Why Adobe makes it so difficult to create custom proxies is hard to understand. It should take three steps and 10 seconds. Not 33 steps and 33 minutes (if you can follow this tutorial.) This program is not user friendly and frustrating to use ALL OF THE TIME.

  • @hiblendmedia

    Premiere CC 2020 requires a folder selection under 'Transcode files to Destination'. Just create/choose a dummy folder just so that it can create the preset. You can still choose which folder you want the proxies to go to when you're creating the ingest settings.

      Typical ADOBE bull shit. They can never create a simple process. Somebody in QA tells the programmers to make 2 or 3 non-sensical non-intuitive steps. Happens every time.

    At 5:45 you leave the Destination field blank. This doesn't occur in Media Encoder 2020. Since I always want to specify the location of my proxy files, I left "Browse for Location". But wait! That generates an error code when I click OK at the bottom: "Please choose a destination path for enabled destinations." Who the hell wants the same location every time they ingest?? This looks like a bug in the Media Encoder app. Disappointed.

    • @AlphaCentauri24
      @AlphaCentauri24 4 года назад +7

      Hiblendmedia commented on this.
      You should simply create & point to a dummy folder in order to create the preset. You will still be able to choose the proxy folder during ingest.

    This is a great tutorial and the only one I found that actually shows you the proper way to create a custom ingest preset. I couldn't find this on the Adobe site. Would love it if Premiere Pro would create a 1080p ProRes proxy ingest preset that's available in the standard list. I'm shooting 4K and trying to edit multicam footage in 1080p.

    3 hours ago I sat down to make a new video in Premiere Pro using clips shot on the new iPhone SE. And this video was the final puzzle besides finding various codecs, changing folder permissions and of course watching endless amount of youtube videos not getting the precise problem. Those lost 3 hours should have put me halfway through editing by now. Instead I'll go to bed. Thanks Apple, Adobe and Microsoft for this evil collab 😈😲💀

  • @Hangs4Fun
    @Hangs4Fun 4 года назад

    I found this VERY helpful (btw, I used to breed champion Boer goats, and loved the clip of a goat you used for this video :-). So, using what you taught here, what I came up with that has completely changed the performance of how I edit, beyond setting scratch disks, hardware GPU, proxies, etc... I noticed that Adobe gets extremely Disk IO bottle necked. So what I did was to take my Alienware laptop, which lets me install 3 NVMe ssd sticks. I use a cheaper one (Samsung NVMe 960 evo 256GB) for my O/S and Adobe software to be installed on, I use a faster one (Samsung NVMe 960 pro 512GB) for all scratch & databases, I use another fast NVMe (Samsung NVMe 970 pro 1TB) for all proxy files, and I store ALL media sources (RAW video, MP4 video, RAW images, WAV 32bit audio, etc) and a Thunderbolt attached Drobo with 5x8TB WD Red drives for 32TB usable but redundant array. My editing speed has literally gotten to the point, that I am having to learn how to process in my head faster, where I used to have such sluggishness in the edit that I was able to take my time thinking about the next move. It was fast before with my set up I mentioned, but I wanted to thank you, because setting up these export and ingest Presets has greatly improved my workflow of using proxies. It was such a pain in the arse before and results would vary, that I stopped using them. But I am not using them and with hardly any time on my part with a repeatable consistent result. So thank you for the time I'm sure this video took you to put together.
    Here's my next issue to solve. I normally use Red Giant's Plural Eyes 4 to sync up my video and separate audio tracks. I've gotta learn how to adjust this workflow to include using Plural Eyes 4 to work with proxies. I know I can just do it in Adobe, but on longer video clips I have seen Premiere drift by the time I get to the end of the clip. Plural Eyes somehow avoids drift.
    QUESTION: How do you work in this workflow the use of external audio and syncing it with proxies, especially when using a Third Party software to do the sync'ing?? Thank you so much

    • @Hangs4Fun
      @Hangs4Fun 4 года назад

      To my complete surprise, I just tried doing my normal thing with Reg Giant Plural Eyes 4 in the app. I went to the same media location as all of the full size original video files are and dragged them with the external audio clips into the Plural Eyes tool, and did a synchronize. It worked great of course, and I then exported the results as a Premiere sequence and dragged that exported sequence into premiere like normal. Premiere AUTOMATICALLY let me use the proxies yet with the replaced audio from Plural Eyes. Adobe must have a good design on how they do proxies, such that the use of proxies (toggling on and off) is not known to 3rd party or effects or anything. Just pure magic. Thanks again

      @AdobeCreativeCloud  Год назад

      Hi! Let's see if this helps. At 3:32 in the video, the tutor selects "Apple ProRes 422 Proxy" as their preset. If you want a transparent background, try the option that says "Apple ProRes 4444 with alpha." This option is only available in the most recent versions of Premiere Pro. Any preset that says "with alpha" at the end should include your transparent background.
      At 6:04 in this video, the tutor makes another preset selection. Make sure you are selecting a preset that ends in "with alpha" to include the transparency. Hope this helps! Let us know.
