  • @luboyanev

Thanks for sharing! I might have a simpler solution for your problem that you mention at 5:30 and 6:23. In stead of trying listen to every audio file to figure out which audio track did not get synced, you could in stead do this: 1) In the project panel, right click on the hamburger(three vertical lines after the project name), then 2) go to Metadata display, then 3) Tick on Video Usage, and on Audio usage, then 4) (optional) Expand the projet panel and slide to the right to find the Video Usage and Audio Usage and move them to the left to be visible also when the Project Panel isn't fully expanded. And boom now you can always see which video and audio clips are being used in any of the sequences. Clicking down on the drop down next to the used video or audio will show how many times it is used, in which sequence, and at what time in the sequence.
    I hope that helps. Cheers!

It still operates like a typical multicam sequence where I would cut all on one video layer. I've ensured that the "insert and overwrite sequences" isn't selected. Any thoughts?

You can also add camera labels or angle names in the metadata panel. Ex: Cam A, B, C (You may have to reveal the column for this as the metadata panel does not default to showing cam names). That way each camera will stay on its own track in the multicam. If you are running any camera or recorder capable of timecode I highly recommend spending the money on timecode boxes. It will save you so much time in post and avoid the headache of having trying to sync shots with no audio or bad audio.

They don't always sync. And rather than put new sync timeline in a new bin they put a timeline but without audio in the same bin as gopro so in other words it syncs the goptos to timeline but doesn't sync add the audio track. Can you help why not

Another tip is that if you’re shooting mix frame rates like 60p and 24P it can create sync issues in plural eyes so what I do is delete the video and just have the audio and that seems to fix it. Then I add the video back in after it syncs.

5:30 - actually, Premiere will tell you won't it if you enable the move processed clips to subfolder option when you have the synchronised window open. Alternatively, in the project bin panel, isn't there a tiny symbol in the corner of the icons that signifies the item is in any sequence (And how many times and which sequence at which timecode - it's a very useful feature, generally in Premiere for knowing which clips you haven't used yet or if they are used multiple times in a sequence)

It's so embarassing that Premiere makes things so much harder than they have to be when it could just be a couple buttons you hit like in FCPX, and clips it cant sync it will at least keep in your timeline so you don't lose footage you might need. I just don't understand why people like Premiere with all of its ugly UI and issues and why Adobe doesn't care to simplify things

I have a weird unique situation where the audio and video on one of my clips keeps breaking up every 2-3 mins or so for 3-10 seconds. So what my, "client" did was record 2 clips. Then I'd put both clips on different timeline and use Scene edit detection. It honestly did a good job of cutting the clips at the right time, but then I'd have to go in and manually delete all bad spots and then sync the audio and video. Some days it would only be 2 hours of footage, but other days it was like 10. Since it made like 200-500 clips, it would be really time consuming to sync everything.
I actually too a break from editing and when I started again they asked me if I wanted to work on their stuff again. I declined temporarily just so I can have more free time this summer, but once summer is done I'll probably work on their stuff again.
I get paid per project, not per hour, so my question is is there are way to speed up this process?
Thanks for your time and your answers.

I will need to sync my narration with the video once I have it recorded. Will this technique work for my purposes? Also, I am very new to video editing. I am guessing that the audio drift only happens in the PROJ files and not the MP4 files, is that correct? Thank you.

  • @johnmellor932
    @johnmellor932 Год назад +1

Right, okay...as an audio editor this method is fine when you are working alone on home videos or weddings. But you should not use this method for narrative work where you'll need to export an omf to pass onto an audio editor. It wipes off all our metadata.
What's the point in us syncing TC to camera and naming our channels 'Boom' 'lav 1' Lav 2' ect, when we get the session back it's all gone, our original time code stamp and naming conventions - wiped off. I always wondered why the audio files that were named 'boom and 'Lav' were replaced with - 'Multicam1275567540009867'
Which means absolutely nothing to us and we can't do anything with.
The correct way (and only way) is to learn to sync by Timecode, that's why we sync our field recorders to camera. Only for editors to use sloppy methods such as this.
Also I don't trust editors to keep an eye on the audio work flow, your audio settings must match the audio files so speak to the soundie to make sure. It should be 24bit 48kHz.
If you are doing narrative work that requires a sound editor, don't screw us over with shoddy workflows or plural eyes. It's unprofessional.

I bought Plural Eyes in August. And I have already run into issues multiple times. And now finally, just after 5 months of using it, I cannot use it anymore at all! This is so annoying and they Maxon wants me to pay all over again!
