In this video we are showing Kacee "The Wedding Singer" (1998). Set in 1985, Adam Sandler plays a nice guy with a broken heart who's stuck in one of the most romantic jobs in the world, a wedding singer. He loses all hope when he is abandoned at the altar by his fiancé. He meets a young woman named Julia (Drew Barrymore), who enlists his help to plan her wedding. He falls in love with her and must win her over before she gets married.

The chemistry between Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and the 80s setup makes this movie truly a classic.
But its funny that since this came out in the 90's, it wasn't all that far from the 80's. So that'll be like a movie today going "retro" with 2010's style theme haha!

I feel like Reign Over Me is not talked about a lot and Sandler was really good in it.
That one, Punch Drunk Love, and Reign Over Me are my favorite Sandler movies, and when I tell people I know IRL that they look at me like I’ve got three heads, like I’m a freak because I don’t like Big Daddy or The Waterboy.

Man this one brings back memories. We went through a stretch with no cable and this was our only vhs lol. It got watched every night at dinner time for almost a month. Rewatching 20 years later and it’s still hilarious. Absolute classic.

Fun fact: Drew Barrymores reaction to the Grow Old With You song was genuine! She never heard the song and didn't know the details of how the scene was gonna play out. So her listening to it and looking around for Robbie, and her face when he reveals thru the curtain was real!

I remember seeing this in theaters and have loved this movie since day one. It’s one of my favorites. Sandler and Barrymore have such great chemistry together in all their movies. I think it was in 2018 or 2019 for the 20th anniversary or a bit earlier to promote Blended and they were both on Fallon doing music lyrics with Fallon playing guitar and in the middle of it, Fallon switched up the song and Sandler sang part of the “grow old with you” song to Drew and she started crying right away. It was really sweet. Apparently they are really good friends off screen. I’d love for them to do one more movie.

The Sandler/Barrymore trilogy is AMAZING - Wedding Singer (1998), 50 First Dates (2004) and Blended (2014) Drew said she wants to do another, and there was a Netflix deal in 2020, but after covid and the actor/writer strike there as been much of a update.

IMO this is his best movie, his second best 50 First Dates again with Drew Barrymore. They have a good chemistry.
Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Aniston are the best Adam Sandler co-stars out there. Now, if only he could do a movie where all three interact, that would be brilliant

Some fun facts:
The joke about Van Halen breaking up is actually pretty genius: in 1985, the year the movie takes place in, Van Halen actually did break up and replace their lead singer
Carrie Fisher worked as a script doctor on the movie and apparently added a lot of depth to Julia as a character; Judd Apatow did some uncredited work on it too
George's actress, Alexis Arquette (she was trans and came out after this movie was made), did a cameo in "Blended" as a character called "Georgina", wearing the same Boy George outfit she wore in this movie

I saw this in 1999 when it came out on home video at Blockbuster. Had volume 1 and 2 of the soundtrack, one of many many soundtracks in my music making influences.
You guys destroyed yhis reaction on two fronts:
1) The resurrection of one of my favorite everyday words, "trifling"
2) The nuclear reaction to Jon Lovitz saying, " take four"
No lie. I watched this movie every day after school for almost a month straight. It had a bangin soundtrack and was a great background movie for homework.

This was one of my fav movies when I was younger. I owned it on VHS and had the CD lol. I think the side characters really make the movie. I love Adam and Drew but every one is awesome. Even George lol with the one song wonder.
Also The Longest Yard is freaking great. Having Burt Reynolds come back is awesome. Killer cast and top notch comedy. I wouldn't say Sandler particularly shines in it because it's so heavily casted, though. Also Reign Over Me with Don Cheadle is super underrated drama with Sandler showing his acting.
BTW- Music and Lyrics is a lesser known romcom starring Drew Barrymore and I think is really really good! I'd love to see a reaction to that.
