The interactions with the kids were the funniest to me. They were super intelligent something they got from their biological dad, but kind of hood as well and I love that juxtaposition.
You are correct. Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), or multiple personalities, is different from Schizophrenia. Although they may have some overlapping symptoms.
@@SLITHERIS Thank you for understanding words and their meanings. People get all bent out of shape over nothing, we use generalized terms for ALL manner of things. Mental health issues are no exception.
The two funniest parts of this movie for me, was his initial transformation into Hank where you see the big vein pop out in his forehead, and the other is when he's having the conversation with the dildo (I almost literally fell out of my chair laughing when I saw this in the theater, lol).
A bunch of the scenes were filmed up in the Williston/Burlington Vermont area, was living up there at the time, Jim Carrey rented the ferry that cruises Lake Champlain for a full cast/staff party, few stories and a bunch of the extras were local actors so the Farrelly Brothers(the directors) wanted to make sure they got some publicity. Carrey and Zellweger actually started dating in real life after this movie
One of the funniest movies ever made and Man, I miss edgy R rated comedies. I wish studios would stop caring about a small percentage of losers that live to be offended and those people will always be mad over something anyway.
One of my favorite parts of the movie was when the sons were trying to figure out how to fly the helicopter and one starts reading in German and picking it up right away. Jim Carrey is such a fantastic, gifted physical actor.
Just FYI: The Hank personality was basically the Cable Guy without the lisp. Jim Carrey's best movie in which he portrayed a character with multiple personalities is The Mask, by far. Cute reaction. Definitely NOT a serious movie.
IF you are interested in seeing Jim Carrey in another serious film, I suggest "the Number 23" it is a thriller. And he plays 2 characters in it but in a different context. Nobody ever mentions this movie but I personally think his acting is amazing, for a serious film like eternal sunshine. I enjoy your reactions, btw, ❤ this one. 😊
Oh my god, this movie. I will confess, I had something of a stomach bug when I first watched it, so I had to take several bathroom breaks during the movie, and every time I would be sitting on the toilet and laughing my ass off to the latest scene I just watched. 😅😝
Jim Carey gave a fantastic performance in this film, pure comedic genius! I also have been an extra in a movie. My father was in the Navy and we were stationed in Atsugi Japan. I was a freshman in high school. Someone got word that they needed people to fill Tokyo stadium for "The Bad News Bears Go To Japan" so we ditched school got on the train and went to Tokyo. You can catch our group like a half second in the crowd. A quick glimpse of yellow and blue football jackets with a big A on it for Atsugi. I didn't wesr one because NAS Atsugi didn't have a high school, we had to go to Zamma Army base wich had one.
16:50 you are correct. The thumb goes on the outside because like you said if it's tucked it will get broken since all the force of your punch on their head will go directly to your thumb. Ouch
There was a brief controversy over how frequently they used the "Schizo" term. The Farrellys did express they should've used a different term as they were literally doing a "Split Personality JEKYLL/HYDE" story and didn't feel it was fair (as they often use disabled people as geniune actors in their films).
16:44 I always think back to when my late oldest brother taught me that when I was about 5. He wanted me to punch him in the abs as hard as I could, and I made a fist with my thumb tucked. He stopped to teach me that lesson, and then I got to punch him a couple of times. Lol
Wait, wait. The Farrelys cut Anna Kournikova from this? What the heck, guys? For the younger folks, Ms. Kournikova was literally the most searched for person on Google back in the day.
Some schizophrenics have mulmultiple personalities. Not all do, but it is not rare for them. It is an overlap of DID, and schizophrenia. They are different mental disorders, but they commonly overlap.
My brother was an extra as well in Friday Night Lights, he was in the actual high school band in the bleachers. He said he got paid like 50 bucks. Go Permian! Loved this film as a teenager when it came out just showing his range like you said.
Rhode Island is beautiful! The Ocean State! Been here for 59 years and have never thought of leaving. Also, the Rhode Island State police are considered one of the best departments in the country.
There are so many great Jim Carrey movies. The Number 23, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Man on the Moon - ones that tend to get overlooked but all fantastic movies.
I have been an boxer and you right. Its hard to use bandages on your hands if the thumb is inside the palm. But on the street its possible, but not recommended. You know if you automatically put your thumb inside your palm, its often an unconscious warning that something is hard or stressful in your life. Its an form of self calming effect. Like some children use thumbs in their mouth.
The scene where he is 3 sons for a kiss on the cheek before he leaves for work was a ad lib by Jim Carrey and if you look closely the three actors playing his sons are struggling not to laugh.
I had this on VHS when I was a kid and it included some deleted scenes that are honestly so funny. You should try and find them if you’re a fan of this movie!
I mean, between his time on In Living Color, to his early films like Once Bitten, Earth Girls Are Easy, and The Sex and Violence Family Hour... he's more of a raunchy comedy actor than not. xD
it's kind of tough to find, but the Farrelly brothers directed a movie from the early 2000's called "Say it Isn't So" with Heather Graham, Chris Kline, and Sally Field. You should check it out, a very underrated funny movie
Ive actually seen from a few in the psychological professions that this movie, albeit exaggerated, was a good view on mental illness. It forms out of protection. Hank is the one who can feel the deeper emotions. Charlie is just coasting. To be safe, Hank is always there if push comes to shove and Charlie cant deal. But its actually been found that alters dont enjoy being defensive ideals. There have been alters that want therapy even to join everyone back. Thats how deep it can go, we use so little of our minds sometimes. Theres more to it than grey matter and thoughts.
Omg When You Said 'I Thought That Was a Sausage' FUNNIEST Line Ever They Should Have Put That In The Movie.🥰 So Glad You Enjoyed This Think This Is One of Jim Carey Funniest Films Great Stuff 🤪😊🤣🤣
One of my favorite Jim Carrey movies you should check out is "The Majestic." Martin Landau was so great in this movie and made it very heartwarming. I just loved them both in this movie.
All of your corrections are actually SPOT on. But it's a completely lunatic movie anyway, so it doesnt really matter. I think that he does some of his best physical comedy in this and that Renee Z is a great foil for him here. The "split personality" aspect of this film is actually almost EXACTLY like the same in The Mask.
This is probably the movie that came out around the transition between were I just saw the comedy in Jim Carey movies to see the whole actor as as the transition to adult

THANK YOU. I'm so tired of these idiots (not this reactor) buying into this idea of schizofrenia being multiple personalities.
I think it's a testament to how much more we know now about mental health disorders than in 2000.
You’re right but also the word schizo in general is sometimes just used to describe a crazy person with a mental disorder, which the character is.

The Cable Guy for me. And I was in a The Number 23 phase, too.

Thank you for watching this, such an underrated movie, none of the other reactors im following did this so far for some reason...
“Underrated” is a very overused word to the point that it’s annoying… but you’re right in this case, this was the most underrated Jim Carrey movie
They've probably already seen it. Cant react without at least one person being a first time watcher

I loved his kids! They were some of the most well adjusted individuals I've ever seen in film. Love how they were written.
The older heavy set son is Anthony Anderson he lost a lot of weight since playing in movies once he went to tv shows and commercials.
The two funniest parts of this movie for me, was his initial transformation into Hank where you see the big vein pop out in his forehead, and the other is when he's having the conversation with the dildo (I almost literally fell out of my chair laughing when I saw this in the theater, lol).
The actor who played Shonte is also in Bad Santa. Hilarious movie
"Thanks I like to keep it short, especially in the summer" is still my main comeback when someone completely misses the point.
Great reaction love this movie, so funny also has some real emotional beats.
