Interesting to take notice of how they followed this style even more in FF13-3. Keeping lightning by herself, encouraging rapid paradigm shifts, immersive character movement in battle.

In terms of how good I'd say they're better than the ancient games. Anything below 7 is hard for me to play. 13 is decent but it's stale compared to 7-9. I would say beyond 7-9, 10 would follow then 13

I honestly think that Lightning is best suited to be a forever alone character. Some characters just have better dynamic by themselves then they could ever have with anyone else. Besides the fact that it's not your usual boring love story is what makes this game so fun. It's about friendship and the bond of two sisters. Not another take on Romeo saving his Juliet.
They don't typically do that in a ff game silly
This one of my favorite battles in Final Fantasy. I can seriously fight this battle for no reason, it's that badass.

Just remember that most of XIII-2 is technically a paradox in itself. In fact, the 'real' Caiu (as in the bad guy plotting all of this) is probably only seen a few times tops.
Kinda how Sepheroth had his shades etc, but his real form was in the northern crater.
Time is irrelevant within the realm of Valhalla. In a sense, the final battle between Lightning and Caius happens after Serah finishes her journey. And seeing as the darkness that envelops Lightning when she's down looks identical to the darkness in which Yeul's existence is expressed, that can either be Etro's or Yeul's doing (we don't know enough to be certain what it is).

Found my way to FFXIII late and I've been working my way through the trilogy on my old PS3. Lovin' it. Get 'em Light! ✊😇
Many people hate this trilogy but it definitely has its highlights, the story might not be the best but the gameplay in the first two games is stellar (it's a bit boring & repetitive the first couple hours in the first game but nothing unbearable, it gets much much better after a few hours, there are a lot of combinational attacks & paradigms, and the second game improved the fighting system & leveling in every way, plus it made the battles more dynamic with the "monster capture"). The story might be a bit rough but most of the characters are very charismatic, my favorite is probably Serah.
This fight was so epic. I must of replayed it about a dozen times.

The one thing I do regret is that they never got the truly reunite that was one thing that I hated about this the most

Great. I'm crying again. I swear, I can never watch the ending(s) to FF13/-2 without crying, and that of course includes the DLC. I don't give a damn if people hate FF13, I'll take FF13-3 before Versus any day.

That final scene between Light and Serah always gets to me.
The ending gets me teary-eyed everytime
They sure mention the word "hope" a lot in here..keeping hope alive, not giving up hope, hold hope for the future..I'm starting to get the feeling that Hope is gonna be the one sorting all this mess out in the next game (if there is one)

I think she became crystal in order to keep the final memory and wish of her sister alive. Also, the crystal stasis she puts herself in is probably her last hope in the future--where when she awakens she can take another chance at 'saving the world'.

The song that plays when Caius is fought is "Unseen Abyss" (it's also the battle theme for the three Bahamuts), and "Heart of Chaos" plays during the Chaos Bahamut fight.
Shoot when lightning said the word "everlasting" I immediately thought it was a reference to the Loveless poem back in Crisis Core lol.
this fighting mechanics r simply the best.

Yes, according to the Final Fantasy wiki at least.
If you have a save from FF13 on your console you will unlock her original GC uniform. If you have a save from FF13-2 on your console you will unlock her Valkyrie armor.
The wiki has 27 outfits listed and apparently you can customize the colors also. They modify the sound effects and victory pose also. One of them is styled after Yuna's Summoner robes.That catlike Miqo'te outfit has certainly turned some heads online also.
I wish I saw this before playing FF13LR years ago, this should've been in the main game. This is probably the best moment of Lightning and Serah together as sad as it is.

Actually, yes. Specifically 'A Dying World' in the Black Sands. And since it was 700 AF, it means it was pretty much the end, which Noel lived in before the miracle. How Lightning ended up there, most likely wandered there after awaking from crystal slumber. Which might lead you to think that the Black Sands were the ruins of Valhalla in 700 AF. But I doubt it, since Valhalla has no time, so in result, it is unknown exactly how Lightning got there.
Great job, this was a blast to watch.

In the Visible World, Caius sees Yeul die over the years and plots his way out of it. So he gets into it in the Invisible World (Valhalla in this case). There, we seem to find that a 'Yeul' exists and that it is Caius that dies over and over to Lightning. But him dying to Noel causes both worlds to collide and his true death (I think).
The paradox ending with him in a throne is just that, a Paradox Ending where he wins. He didn't. Really, no one seemed to win except 'dark Yuel' which is ?

He will. He's had hints of divinity since the beginning. Even think of when they first lasted on Pulse in XIII, he had a scene where he was lying on his back at their campfire, and suddenly speaking mystically.
Well this clears some things up.
Le sigh, they should have kept this in the game. Much more satisfying than the actual ending. Actually gives... plot resolution for Serah and Lightning. But they were really greedy to make this DLC then make it a cliffhanger. Given the middling sales of XIII-2, it's not even certain if they'll even do a sequel.
To unlock lightning you need to get 5 stars. And for those saying the dragon form isn't appearing, its because you have to beat caius in a certain amount of time. To get 5 stars u should be at level 6. If u go higher your rating will drop

I'm a little curious: how is it that move videos of this fight have 5 ATB but when I fight it, I have 6? Is that just inconsistency or what?
AquaThunderKnight17 Well he was in lvl 7. When u are lvl 7 u have 5 atb. Then u are lvl 8-10 u have 6 atb

Ok, at the end of the last cutscene, Light says she will rest until the end of the world comes. But after it says 'In a distant future...' she says she will rest until the day she awakens. She put herself in a crystal slumber, so, she cannot die or anything. At the very end it shows a cutscene where Lightning is in an area of what looks to be snow. If that caption said 'In a distant future...' then Lightning must've awakened within that future. Yeah...most likely an FFXII-3.

The music from 6:00 to about 6:25 sounds like it was remixed from Final Fantasy 10. One of the "Sinspawn" boss fights I believe.
It all depends really. But roughly I think new characters because 13-3 takes places years later when Lightning wakes up again. But I think Yeul might be in it since she is the seeress.
What point in FFXIII-2 does this take place? The chiming of the bells at the end happening in both?
The voice actor of Caius also voices Gaara from Naruto as well as characters from a lot of other video games such as Dist the Reaper from Tales of the Abyss...
Well sure, but maybe just the presentation or that I really like Lightning or a few things about FF13 makes me quite fond of it, great music too. It taps some classic mythology and ideas of course.
I did read a good chunk of the first book but I didn't get that into it with the characters and such, I should try again it's HUGE out there. I do like to read and enjoyed the Inheritance Cycle and I like crime drama, but some books are tough depending on the writing. I am smart but still.

there was apparently some rumor that people overheard square reps speaking japanese in a corner talking about that being at TGS this year so...and its been under full dev for almost a year and a half whereas it was on back burner for numerous years before that. It'll be out within a year if I were a betting man.

i have absolutely NO idea what is going on in 13 and 13-2 and i beat both. They tried too hard to make a deep story.
In my opinion all the Stories Were Beautiful and Unique i will forever be A Final Fantasy fan
So far, other than Snow & Hope, it's been said that characters from FFXIII-2 will be coming back. And from that small bit of info, I could assume that Noel's going to be back too... although probably with a much smaller (and non-playable) role in comparison to FXIII-2. Also, there's not much official news released yet for the last sequel of the Lightning Saga but it's been mentioned that Lightning will work her way to save the new meshed-up world called Novus Partus in 13 days before Armageddon.

I feel a connection with FF13, I kinda feel like Lightnings entire story is the type that should be told around campfires in 200 years.
I've only played a little Elder Scrolls but I kinda have that feeling of too much open freedom and wandering.
I still love the Mass Effect trilogy, I think it hits a good balance and marries everything together well.

i think that the best way to deal with chaos bahamut is to get as close to stagger as possibel and then switch to the paladin and just wear him down.
then once you get close to killing him, switch to a mage, stagger him and let him have it with legion of one and finish the job with the paladin.
cause trying to stagger this prick over and over again is a pain in the ass
Exactly the way I feel! I never really cared much for Versus. It's a bonus if it comes out, it looks interesting, but I will take 13-3 before that any day of the week.
