A Yeul who dreamed of travel! *_small heart break_*
A Yeul who loved to sing! *_big heart break_*
A Yeul who collected flowers! *_heart completely shattered_*
I really loved the trilogy. 10 years later I'm playing it again on PC
It's nice that we actually got to see those Yeuls do the things they loved. One Yeul sang as she was roaming the streets and the other always had flowers on her hands and looked around for them. It was a great way to show early how different they were so this moment felt like a pay off of that.
"No one deserves to die. Not even you, friend. Farewell."
That line gets to me every time. Despite everything that Caius did, Noel never even thought of killing him. Noel never hated him. He always stood by his beliefs no matter what, and I wish that more people could follow his example. Noel really is one of the most admirable video game characters that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Opticfreakinbarrel yet he destroyed the world.
Cool last world, cool characters, Caius at most, very cool game. And yes Noel is a good boy.
Yeah Noel is what kept me playing XIII-2 cause I really didnt like Serah, she was a catalyst in XIII and she was a catalyst in XIII-2 >_> Anyway I played for him Caius and Yuel lol
I've realized that Caius is one of the more... I dunno, "human" of Final Fantasy antagonists.
I was thinking about personal reasons for doing what you do, like what Cloud urged his friends to find before their big showdown. Saving/destroying the world just for the sake of doing it, that's just too big and vague for people to call "personal". Some villains like the Emperor may have had much more heartfelt motives in the past, but they've lost those motives in their madness.
But others' deeper feelings still shine in their hearts, whether they know it or not. Sephiroth's need to maintain his pride, Ultimecia's need to escape the finite wiles of time, stuff like that. The thing that makes Caius different is that he still knows why he seeks destruction.
DenisK21 His stance is somewhat nihilism or rather that to live is to suffer. So he rather seek destruction of it all. If no one lives, no one can suffer.
It's quite the common human existential crisis.
Who thinks that Caius should be in Dissidia?
WintryFlux most badass antagonist, deserved it.
And there he is, in dissidia opera omnia
I could see a Caius outfit for Kain.
I cant believe hes not either,or Noel,or Sarah thats crazy. His weapon is bad ass als0
He's in Opera Omnia now XD
It's interesting to see that Caius is STILL holding back when you see him fight here, with the possible exception of Jet Bahamut. We don't see any multiple Blast Waves converging on a single target like Requiem for a Goddess, nor do we see him summoning Chaos creatures or that gigantic comet spell he did against Lightning.
I'm also pretty sure that his actual AI is coded to attack your monster buddy whenever you're not directly attacking him.
Look at the final boss. Why on earth is Jet Bahamut just standing there with his arms crossed? Why not just cream Noel and Serah where they stand with multiple Gigaflares while they're fending off the other Bahamuts? Answer: He doesn't want to kill them. It's all another test to see if Noel can kill Caius.
Lastly, look at Caius' suicide scene. He's holding Noel's dagger by the god damn blade end, and he's strong enough to stab it into his chest while Noel is trying to tug it back with both hands. How many times, when we see Caius physically overpowered, was he actually trying?
like, um, never xD. I had the same thoughts. If he tried to take them down, he could smak them in 2 seconds
+Lardo137 The only time Caius is ever a challenge is the Paradox version in The Void Beyond. And there he's a monster who shows no mercy, I'm imagining how easily Bahamut trio could have crushed you.
Try to play FF13-2 without crystarium used, Caius battles are very hard. That explains why the last Caius only has 52 000 HP.
Lardo137 Thats a very interesting theory. I think your spot on. Caius probably wanted Noel to kill him and he felt guilty enough to allow it. Damn
Also.... the game has to be manageable
14:44 The original “Think Mark, think”
He began as a faithful man who devoted himself to protecting a young girl, and now he is twisted and traumatized by witnessing the countless deaths of his master. At first glance, his motive is ridiculous, but when you take into account of his past with all the Yeuls then I think it becomes more sensible. He is a spectacular antagonist, for he is distorted and sorrowful but in the same time loving and gentle.
He is an extremely skilled fighter, he shows no mercy to his opponents, his whole appearance spells out the word 'villain' and yet the game shows us moments where he bows down to this cute, little girl, sheds tears over her dead body and embraces her in her last moments. Just like a twisted demon taking care of an innocent angel with all his heart. To me, it symbolizes that even the most distorted people still experience love and care; not every antagonist just wants to ruin the world because they were born evil. I don't know if FF actually thought that far but I feel that it really is a beautiful form of symbolism, something I rarely see in FFXIII.
I love when Noel is telling Caius how Yeul wanted to come back to be with him.
Noel is such an under appreciated FF main. Most likely because of the butt hurt people who hated 13 who didnt even give the sequel a chance. The 13 trilogy is quite diff. But really good. And Noel and Caius are both fantastic characters.
I personally love Caius and dislike Noel. Too funky for me.
I didn't grasp Noel very quickly because they stripped us of the original cast. That and his design is somewhat minimalist. He looks like a regular guy but with wierd clothes.
I didn't like Snow at first either. It took for me to see them in spin offs to really appreciate them more.
What they did to snow was a disrespect. For me FFXIII-S will always be the worst constructed story.
14:44 THINK, CAIUS, THINK!
I love Caius and Noel... Awesome Characters
You got that damn Right.
Me too......I love the dichotomy
I don't know how they do it but I always get emotionally attached to the story as if I'm part of it
Caius, FF13 2's misunderstood hero.
Alex H. He's more of a nihilist.
@@Xarkom89 Eh? Not really
He don't have honor and dream just like snow
I would say he is being selfish but its completely understandable considering his situation and yes he is trying to save someone but at the cost of the world so I couldn't call that heroic. He is trying to destroy time so that Yeul won't have to be reborn over and over but in doing so will fuck over everyone else in the world. What makes him a great character is that he even acknowledges this fact and couldn't care less. He is tired for living for eternity and has had to witness his loved one die over and over for century's. He couldn't care less of the consequences of anything else because he is already living in a hell and just wants to be free of it. I guess you could argue that hes a hero if you look at the last two games together but you can see it was just very lucky things worked out in the end, he didn't intentionally set things up or cared less how they turned out but he at least atoned somewhat by staying in chaos to take over the new role of the god of death. Morale of his story is that eternity is a curse, he was never evil to begin with but his sacrifice for his duty to protect the seeress and passion/sorrow from the goddess of death lead him to becoming immortal and then it was just a ticking time bomb from then. Probably the best villain in FF's so far.
Caius is a damn murderer not a hero. And he's selfish... He did all that for Yeul to still suffer in the Chaos. And he killed Serah... So tell me how the hell is he damn hero?
This game is graphically phenomenal. Except for the odd low-res texture on a close up shot here or there, this could easily pass for current gen.
I liked this comment three years ago, but looking back at this now, I disagree. FFXIII is the best looking out of the trilogy.
@@shiranui2844 I'd have to go and check out 13 again but this game looks phenomenal and like the OP said.. really isn't showing its age. The same may be true for 13 as well
If you loved Tidus, you’d love Noel! This game was so hype and the soundtrack is the cherry on the top!
I don't like Tidus, but Noel is great. They're nothing alike.
I have to admit that this is the best battle i've ever seen in any rpg so far related to graphics, music, skills, and monster design.
agreed. The only game that could come close to it is Dark souls.
Juan Pablo Parada Zelada Well, I find Kingdom Hearts better in favour of music and monster design at least. FF has huge skills and graphics are a lot better (except that the newer KH games and the upcoming KH3 will be eyecandy)
TheHeavyModd Kingdom Hearts
Yes that's true. KH is superior in every aspect, that's why i didn't compare it lol
Juan Pablo Parada Zelada Gotta hype KH3 and FFXV tho
Caius Ballad, my favourite character ^^
That battle music 17:44 lol, hypest stuff out there. And three bosses at the same time. Hell yea, let's fight.
The dragons pose though, amazing
Maybe I'm just addicted to the bitter sweet taste of tragedy, I really don't know, but when the music kicks in at 13:59, I always feel so deeply moved and yet relieved in a way that it scares me somehow.
Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy games of a much better game than they're given credit for the first Final Fantasy XIII was beautifully constructed 13 2 had its moments and Lightnings Return I think people don't give that game enough credit for the sequencing of the game and I'd like the way the creator of Final Fantasy XIII Lightnings left the ending ambiguous interpretation to what actually happened after they went through the portal my hats off to the Creator believing it to the imagination of the fans thank you for the sweet beautiful Trilogy of games now only if this could be be released for the PlayStation 4 or ps5
Or the Switch
There is the Novella that explains the ending not being open ended go read it
He is the only antagonist of final fantasy series that won and defeat the main character FROM THE START extremely powerful character where will always stay undefeated
"Here in valhalla, the chaos is my ally." That voice, Liam killed it. The music is just perfect. "Lose yourself in battle."
They all died. All of them. Before my EYEEEESSS!!!!!
Despite what Caius did in the world I can understand he reason . watching Yeul die again and again set him on this path of destruction .
Another win for Liam o brien
Caius is such a marvelous villain.
The best soundtrack for a final battle in FF
+Juan Leonardo Carrasco FF7-9 says otherwise. Oh and FF6.
No, 13-2 has much better final boss music. My favorites are 12TZA and 15.
Of course, everyone's own opinion
Honestly that Bahamut battle is the most intimidating, epic, and adrenaline-pumping final boss fight of the entire FF series for me (especially if you're more of a story player and not a completionist and are underlevelled by the time you hit this point in the game, boy is it a hard one). When you look at these two teenage kids and their monster buddy squaring off against these three enormous dragons, it honestly tugs at my heartstrings, especially considering neither of them are soldiers. Noel was just a hunter and Serah a teacher, not even very versed in combat by the time this game starts. It's one of the few Final Fantasy games that made me feel at several points that the main character is vulnerable and might actually die.
And, well...
@@japanorbust Loved your comment
2021 still one of my favorite moments/final bosses. Caius and Noel are amazing characters
am I the only one that gets the vibe that Caius is Sephiroth with Soul Edge? lol
Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I thought when I played it; especially the Soul Edge part with the eye i the sword and looking all funky twisted like the Soul Edge has looked since Soul Calibur. He still would have been a bad ass boss, especially in this battle with Chaos Bahamut/Caius if he wasn't so damn easy
psh he kicks my ass every time
Caius is definitely a lot more interesting than Sephiroth. While yes, Sephiroth is an interesting character, his methods are just... overused. He wants to destroy the world and then build a new one where he's god, pretty much. And he has that overconfident personality that he can't be killed. Caius though, wants Yeul to stop suffering, and the way to do that was to end the timeline (as far as I can see without playing the game), but then he realized that if he were to die, then she wouldn't have to keep coming back and dying again to see him. He wasn't really 'evil' at all. And his personality even shows it.
Eriah Sylverstone there's actually more at the very end that shows Caius in a more evil light. It's still kind of unclear if his motives were to keep Yeul from suffering or if it was something else, or if Yeul is even a separate entity, she might just be a puppet controlled by Caius. The ending leaves us with a lot of questions that are unanswered. Lightning Returns will give us closure. people really do underrate this game, it may not be to everyone's taste, but the storytelling is just wonderful in it. it provokes a lot of thought and questioning
is it just me or do the three bosses look like dragons i GURRENTEE THEY ARE
This Trilogy has the most convoluted and confusing Final Fantasy game plot. It's also by leaps and bounds the best one when you finally make sense of it all.
that's what's amazing about Caius, he's the first FF villain that's been created with the Protagonist Formula they use. That being someone that's fighting to crush a pseudo-religious system that is unfair in some way. You're on board with his idea because all FF is like that, you fight against the GODS!
Oh god.. watching this gives me ptsd. Especially when it shows Bahamuts count down. I somehow went through the entire game with the original kitty cat medic, thinking there were no other monster companions that healed
Aww, how cute
That was me too 😭
Healing monsters are insanely rare in this game. I think i can legit only name that one cat, Green chocobo, white chocobo, spiranthes, flanitor and pupu.None else have healer
This wins as the best Final Fantasy in my book, and yes I've played them all.
+Super Brain dunno Final fantasy X kinda is up there o-O
+Super Brain VI, IX, and XIII-2 for me, in that order =)
+Shazgob the Loremaster I still need to play VI but IX and XIII-2 are my two favorites
My favorite is 12. then 15.then type type zero, then x and then 13-2. Love all of them. Epic game and Caius is a very cool villain
..really lol?
A Yuel who dreamed of travel.
A Yuel who loved to sing.
A Yuel who collected flowers.
gets me every time
Right in the feels
11:36 Wow the music kicked in so perfectly with his "Wings of Darkest Night" attack lol.
"it's up to you to keep hope alive"
"the guy or the concept?"
"....yes"
I remember when I first played this part of it, and then the 3 Bahamuts came out, I lost my shit. It was so epic.
Chills watching this...the music, drama, everything was right here
13:48.... the moment when everyone's heart strings were pulled.... YEUUULLL
The song at 00:10 is Eternal fight, frm the disc 1.
You're welcome.
i love noel and all but god damn do i hate his pants
DrFaustFaustus can we say sora esque pants?
I just went back to playing this game on steam. I do wish this battle system was back. It felt super dynamic and sharp. The thundaga animation was so sick.
"I never wanted to hurt anyone. No-one deserves to die. Not even you, friend"
If you aren't invested in Noel at this point it's pretty hard not to be now ❤😢
I honestly could give less of a shit for Lightning and most of FFXIII cast. But Honestly Noel and Caius as characters could've easily gotten their own Final Fantasy Title.

Thanks, I watch this ending pretty often.
U forgot 7:09
First time I was underleveled, and the Bahamut trio took me around 2 hours to beat
Invisibles @ 14:44 *CUE THE MEME!!!* 💯
To think that XIII-2 had a better story than XV ...
Master Keeper Listen.....a lot of FF ganes had a better story than 15. And i know this while knowing little of the other games, and having played over 150 hours in 15. Thats how much more interested i am in the other games knowing so LITTLE, and how uninterested i am in 15 after saturating myself with it for ages! Seriously the biggest disspointment in games period, and it could have been a masterpiece at some point too
Master Keeper and i think FF XII's story is better than the whole FF XIII trilogeek.....
Square inx know how to set a feeling
Once that sick bop starts playing on the beach and the battle starts. I felt that
I made it to the final battle and nearly destroyed caius with less than 10% of his health left before nephew came over and begged to play videogames on my Xbox. I left him alone before coming back to the Xbox no longer working. I bought a new Xbox with a new hard drive, but just can't bare to finish this again
Caillus the coolest character I always wanted to play as him
Noel has the most Badass Protagonist Design in FF! Also from Character a True King!
Vaya tan solo ver me e emocionado y todo waw realmente no hay otro juego que lo supere que peleas, que jugavilidad, que historia y que musica que acompaña hace sentir la hermosura de este juegaso
all caius wanted was to save a friend....but didn't realize all the harm he was doing😿 he thought he could protect her forever💔 to be honest....i would do the same as caius to protect my loved ones
Its like a father watching his daughter die multiple times.
Every time Caius comes back he’s like:
“Goddamit not again”
it looks like bahamut volo killed hisself with his judgement sword...lol awesome video i enjoyed it
He killed Serah and Lightning
Love the cutcene at 7:13, it inspires me so much
What is the name of the song at 10:15? Right when they enter Valhalla. It resembles Lightning's theme from FF13 but I can't seem to find the title
Man you are soooooo oveleved oh my god.
I remember doing this shit for 3 hours, didn't lose once, but it took so long low leveled.
Damn! Last FF I played was FF 12 which I loved, but I must say this FF is beautiful! Thanks for posting!
Caius the best villain
My all time fave villain in the FF series. Love his conflict and that his actions are just to an extent while still being badass and his blade resembling soul edge made me love his sword that I actually made my own one out of Eva foam that hangs on my wall 😁
If only there was an encounter with the singing Yeul
I can't watch the end of Caius... its too hard to watch
Raeyne Jaymeson that's what he wanted.
I know.. But, its still hard.
Raeyne Jaymeson at least he is happy now, kinda happy.
Caius was supposed to be the main villain in FF13! -.-
Wait. He wasn't?
Bhunivelze is the main antagonist.
It could have been possible that Barthandelus and PSICOM's leader was actually Caius and thus Fal'cie Orphan was going to destroy Cocoon, Caius also wanted to destroy Coccon.
+MrYoshiYoshi I don't exactly know it's just my theory
MrYoshiYoshi
Cauis was just a time guardian... Barthandelus as a FalCie was given a task to destroy Cocoon to open Etro's gate and call the Maker. (Etro's gate is not stated in the game but it is on the mythos)
I love this game
This game has to get remastered for PS4 with downloadable content and everything
Get it on steam and upscale it lol
Noel 😍 his fighting style is so cool!
Top 10 saddest anime deaths
I find it better to run the Aggression Paradigm when fighting Caius, since he usually can't be staggered. I only used Relentless Assault during the Jet Bahamut fight, and just stuck to Aggression otherwise.
I feel like that shore where the gates appeared and would promptly disappear, part of a paradoxical world I imagine, would go dark. Dark rock would show itself, jutting out of the water and along the coast. A
I know of six people who would wander their way to that shore.
Flanitor was my favorite medic
omg the memories
Ik your probably not gonna see this But how did Serah get that Ultima Arrow!? and
what weapon does Noel have its really powerful
9:19 Legend has it PKLucas531 is still signing in and out to this day.
It's almost 2016 and i still wondering what does Caius says when he cast Ultima.
It's 2020 and i am still wandering that 😂
"You cannot stop me for the eternity to come
Come close to your death
Heed my call!
Ultima!"
But I'm quite unsure, so many sound effect blurs it a lot
i mean chain attack that yellow thing on the up right corner do you see it
I adore this trilogy but...
I still can't get past the fact that the devs wouldn't think players would just say, "Eh? Caius kills himself". Grabbing noels hand shouldn't really count as noel killing him. Makes no sense
"EMOTIONAL DAMAGE! "
That final moment at 25:20 is greatest!
When lightning comes to save serah and noel 🥺♥️
i beat this boss multiple times lol i used an Ravager Behemoth Noel and Serah are cute fighting together
Best final fantasy game
14:43 " Think ...
I love this theme 0:09-3:00
Eternal fight!!
i like using ravager because we can use that fire thing easily
@10:52 that segment! ^^
Caius: “Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, & Scootaloo are dead. I’ve killed them with my own hands.”
Noel and Serah vs. Illidan Stormrage
EVERY 10 FUCKING SECONDS ATTITUDE SHIT HOW DID YOU GET SO FUCKING LUCKY!
This game was amazing. Sad to see all the hate its been getting nowadays
but doesn't that mean all history is gone do to that the special heart stopped beating ?
If this payment doesn’t go through ( then I game) but it will probably be 4 years plan
i've never see lightning meet serah
O i need to know , what it the theme called when you fight chaos bahamut on the ship?? anyone?
Time's Master is what you're looking for :)
YouNoobxD94
Omg tyvm ^^
What song is that at 00:10 ? I like it!
Eternal fight.
DID I HEAR CHAOS?
Thats what im talking about! now were the same! huehuehue =3
