Did anyone notice that little look Clapton gave Beck right after his finished his slide solo?? It's great watching two giants appreciate one another's playing. Long live rock 'n' roll, and long live these two magnificent players:)
didn't leave that old sock much room Lol! R.I.P Jeff love the way you made that old tele moan around making Eric wonder where or when he can jump in lol!
Obviously you haven't listened to much Jeff Beck over the years. While all the people you listed are excellent slide players, Beck can blow them away anytime he wants to. Just because he plays a laid back performance as a member of the band instead of in the spotlight-don't discount his ability. He's is the master!
Jeff Beck was, is, & will always be the GOATGuitarist IMO. BTW I was at this concert. Bridgeview Illinois Saw JB 15 times. Each time better & better he became. RIP Jeff Beck
I can't hear this song without harking back to where I first heard it, about '66, the Butterfield Band with Mike Bloomfield on lead guitar. He was a guitar genius who died way too young. If he'd lived he'd certainly be at events like this one blowing people away.
Yea, I had that first LP of Butter and the boys. I was a kid in high school. Bloomfield's guitar and Paul's harp was like nothing I ever heard before. Come to think of it I haven't heard anything like since either! The band came to the San Francisco bay area shortly after that album came out and I went and saw them in Berkeley. Sam Lay had left and Billy Davenport was on drums. This was before they released East West. A local band I had never heard of opened for them, the Jefferson Airplane.
Gotta agree 100% and then some. Mike was a loon but he could play his brains out...and Butter...well...he blows this performance away on a bad night. The last time Clapton was interesting was when he played with Duane Allman in the Dominos and then Delaney & Bonnie....
Everytime I hear Beck (with slide) and Clapton (as lead guitar), I can see two legends alive: Muddy and Little Walter. The sound from Beck's guitar when he plays the slide it's like the harp of Walter. Maybe I'm deaf or stupid, but I can't help it.
I've come to the conclusion that Jeff Beck is my favorite guitar player. Why? Because he symbolizes the confidence to go where some assholes in your band would say it sounds horrible, but we all know he kicks ass. Its healthy. Rock n roll is about not giving a fuck, and that's why guys like this never run out of ideas. But at the same time, listen to yourself on a recording to patch up the rights and wrongs.
This song is just one or the many blues songs that both guitarist know, but let me tell you something! Beck's slide on a stratocaster is fresh and likely to my ears!
Jeff Beck once explained his "uncomfortable rivalry" with Eric Clapton. Nonetheless, EC has much respect for JB. Now, for those who are comparing JB & EC in terms of guitar wizardry, we all know the answer. RIP to the JB. You are sharp as a blade & soft as a dream. Rock the heavens with your Olympic White Strat! 🎶🎵🎼 Jeff Beck Forever!
This is awesome, three of my favorite things coming together. Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and the Hound. Everybody knows the Hound, and you can't deny he was one of a kind.
I was there...15 years old at the time. Seen the Stones, McCartney, Roger Waters, Tom Petty, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and so many more since then but this will always be the greatest concert I ever went to. RIP Hubert Sumlin, Johnny Winter, BB King...
This makes me emotional, man... These two giants will never play together for us again. Jeff & Eric lived music for all this while & not just played it. May Eric keep on rocking our lives!❤
Two of the best guitar players giving a great performance while respecting each other, ably backed by Steve Gadd and Willie Weeks. It just doesn't get better than this!
To be fair, it would be something similar to a draw. Clapton probably couldn't match Beck lead for lead. Beck could not match Clapton for finger style rhythms. They'd be just about a dead-nuts lock on blues improvisation.
Jeff Beck, What a legend what a talent, what a LOSS to the music world! THE Guitarists guitarist! True understated Englishman humble yet the epitome of Virtuosity and Genius talent and ability he spanned genres and generations!! Great man! As is his mate Clapton of course.. God bless and RIP (Rock in Paradise!) Another Master GONE 😢💔🎸☯️♾️✝️🏴🇬🇧🙏
Two old pals playing together never see them together again sad loss loseing jeff one off thanks jeff for all the years of listening to you been great rip jeff thanks
Two icon's, Eric and Jeff, of that there's no doubt, that being said, Good God almighty, those back-up singers and their "Money Makers" ~ Shakin' it, and singin' it Oh so good ~
Peter Muller - I've seen / heard Clapton play this tune live several times where he played the slide parts - not with the flourish and whammy bar tricks but musically just as pleasing.
justafanintexas Please dont get me wrong, E. did so much for musician, Crossroads a.s.o., and I hear him see him since 1978. He is a great singer and songwriter, but on guitar he plays nearly the same since 40 years.
Why do we gotta lose the great ones man. But there's a subtle peace of knowing he's up there rocking with the other greats whom he's missed as well. R.i.p Jeff Beck you legend you 🙏😞
Ça c'est du vrai son de Blues Rock de base, ces deux compères sont parmi les meilleurs de cette génération (la mienne) ils prenaient leur pied lors des concerts live!
Thank you Michael, I appreciate you saying that.. My boyfriend grew up as a blues/ country musician and I a big Grateful Dead fan. Now we are into all types of music and love it! Maybe your daughter needs to start shopping around? Jess
it's always nice to see kids playing guitar and learning how to play the blues in the currrent year i give them a huge thumbs up to support them keep practicing guys maybe one day you'll make it
Jesus... What's going to happen to music when All my favs Like Beck retire. The punks today just don't carry the same prowess and soul. I miss the talent and sounds of yesterday.
I'm one of those "punks" but I don't play that modern shit. I play the music of the North Mississippi hill country, the South Mississippi delta, and the blues that followed. I may not be famous or even all that good, but I will play 'till the day I die, and I'll be damn sure that I'll get at least one other poor sum bitch to play with me. You can bet on that.
i think it partly cuz recording and sound equipment is just too darn good and precise. to me everything comes across as contained and controlled. like this performance. I bet it sounded amazing to them but something sounds off to my ear.
It is 7th of June 2016 now. Eric Clapton has just released his album "I Still Do" and Jeff Beck will release an album called "Hail Louder" in July this summer!
No mate. Two different years. Two different albums. Both Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton are active with new material and I'll support them in every way I can. The industry doesn't do much for old cats anymore so fans has to help out. Have a nice fun day - sunday!
The Law of the Gun. Jeff takes the whole tempo and feel to a new level and all the musicians and singers get it! Look at all their smiles. You better know your shit!. I love this video. Eric said it. Jeff Beck...Please!
Think the end took Eric by suprise...seems he was just getting into that solo, These guys are two giants for sure, whichever you prefer. Great to see them both still laying it down...
Had the pleasure of visiting Crossroads i Dallas sept -19 .Jeff and Eric with friends gave and unforgettable evening ...what about an Elmore James tribute -album from these two masters of british blues ?
GSP21 Just went over to the Fleetwood Mac version, you are right. It is hot! guess, I was in the military when this came out, didn't pay too much attention till I saw Stevie Nicks. Until then, I was listening to CCR, Mountain,T-REX and Hendrix. Thanks for steering me to this.
They tried that, but he left before they got started. He spent two days waiting for them finishing boozing around. Then he concluded that there were too.little music and too much whisky in that project....so he wrote them a note and left the hotel, while they were sleeping it off. Did anyone notice that little look Clapton gave Beck right after his finished his slide solo?? It's great watching two giants appreciate one another's playing. Long live rock 'n' roll, and long live these two magnificent players:)
I did. Being a guitar player I recognize it. It was a look of "oh you son of a bitch" with a ton of respect at the same time.

Jeff Beck's incredible music will live on , forever. Thanks for EVERYTHING you did , Sir !🎸🎶
wtf , WHUT about Sir Eric Clapton ? Is Sir Paul McCartney is just phutzy putz ?
As I post this , Eric + Paul are still alive. And yes , their contributions will always be remembered . Best Wishes.

Genuine two guitar legends RIP jeff beck you will never be forgotten
Agree Jeff can pretty much do anything with guitar but don’t think he’s better on slide than the guy with poney tail
Lol
R.I.P Jeff you were a wild boy out there thanks! for the awesome guitar playing made me pick up a guitar again in 2022
Two Great Guitar playing of blues Jeff Beck🙏ever remembered🎸🎼🎶🎵
Impressive! Two monsters not competing each other. This is simply music.
Compete Clapton can’t do shit maybe if he was 20 again
Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, the dynamic duo of highly electrified blues music.
Rockin😊
Clapton is eternal favorite, but so is Beckola

two of the greatest guitarists. I'm glad you're still with us. rip .. peter green.
Now a days punks don't know these kinds of music ! Rocking stuff !😎
Are you kiddin' me, they BOTH killed it!!!

Nice groove and good to see Beck playing a Telecaster! He can still lay down some wicked slide licks!

Hard to believe ONE stage could hold them both!!
Two of the best guitar players giving a great performance while respecting each other, ably backed by Steve Gadd and Willie Weeks. It just doesn't get better than this!
So Eric Clapton's long time bass playing band member is Nathan East.. - - - & is that right ?
Two great musicians, respecting eachother without stupid competition, great!!!
To be fair, it would be something similar to a draw. Clapton probably couldn't match Beck lead for lead. Beck could not match Clapton for finger style rhythms. They'd be just about a dead-nuts lock on blues improvisation.
Amen to that, but still someone has to measure them against each other, 😳

Very well said. Wasn't it great seeing Jeff playing a Tele? I haven't see that very often since the YB days.
LOVE Becks and Clapton, with Page it would have been the 3 Gods. Doesn't get better than those 3, our generation is truly blessed.

I was a roadie for a blues band and they would blow this version of shake your money maker out the water.
RIP Jeff
This is fooookin Fantastic.. Wow wow wow...thanks 4 sharing this one. Let’s rock it out ...
Perfect ....
Jeff is the master in this combo, Mr. Clapton is there because he is a good singer, for the guitar parts its Jeff.
This arrangement was meant to showcase Beck's slide guitar while Clapton played straight rhythm.
justafanintexas Ím with you, but Eric couldńt do this because hés unable to.
Peter Muller - I've seen / heard Clapton play this tune live several times where he played the slide parts - not with the flourish and whammy bar tricks but musically just as pleasing.
