I can kind of understand why Sunbeam left ShadowClan. There was a scene where she was looking around the camp and realized that she didn't feel like she belonged there without Nightheart, but I really really wish they spent more time on her developing those ideas and feelings. Maybe they should have bled her decision making into the next book and had her join ThunderClan by the middle of the fourth book.

@@groudonvert7286 agreed. Her problems never got solved by Nightheart joining ShadowClan. The problems were still there, but she was having to focus more on Berryheart rather than Lightleap & Blazefire. It could be said that Nightheart made Sunbeam move on from Blazefire, but it was obvious the issues she had before still existed after Nightheart left - if not more intensified cause Nightheart's betrayal reopened her wounds from Blazefire becoming Lightleap's mate and "proving" Berryheart right. They did say Sunbeam recovered enough to see the errors of Berryheart's ways though and it could have fed into her decision to leave ShadowClan - especially if they had explored it more and even had Berryheart put her up to something dangerous and maybe even finding out that Splashtail killed Reedwhisker and possibly Curlfeather and nearly Frostpaw.

Plus I think Duskfur wanted Curlfeather to be leader, so she wasn't responsible for her death. And I doubt Duskfur would try to kill Frostpaw.

LONG RAMBLE AHEAD AKIRA SORRY AHEAD OF TIME
Personally it makes sense that Sunbeam is being the impulsive one now and switching to Thunderclan. We can see that she felt genuine anxieties over the fact that Nightheart is no longer there with her. That it didn't feel right. It was definitely emotions in the moment + Berryheart not knowing when to shut her trap that caused Sunbeam to heavily consider going to Thunderclan. Her best relationships were with Lightleap and Blazefire. She mended her friendship with Lightleap somewhat and she gave Blazefire her blessing that she isn't mad anymore about him moving onto Lightleap. She probably felt like all she had to do in Shadowclan was done and that now she could go to Thunderclan to be with Nightheart.
But I do like that even Nightheart is trying to convince her otherwise! He outright told her that if she joins Thunderclan, she's going to have to fight her former clan once Squirrelstar steps in. That's why I feel like the Erins stopped the book right before Sunbeam actually joins Thunderclan because it's going to have Sunbeam go through an arc where she realizes what Nightheart went through. So hopefully by the end of the Thunder book, she goes back to Shadowclan instead of staying in Thunderclan. That hopefully, by feeling what Nightheart felt while in Shadowclan has her realize while they love each other, it's not strong enough that they'd literally upturn their lives for it. And that's something that's okay to realize! You can love people but realize the sacrifices you'd have to make to love them just isn't worth it in the long-term. I do see them genuinely having a deep friendship by the end of this, with both of them cheering each other on.
COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO THIS VIDEO, what I enjoy is that Nightheart being away from Sparkpelt and Finchlight is realistic. When my boyfriend left his mother's controlling home, being away from her eventually put them on equal footing as she now had no tie to him so she couldn't hold anything against him. I feel the same happened with Nightheart. By being away from his family, it gave both sides time to actually realize what they kept arguing about wasn't worth it in the slightest and it forced both parties to take a step back and evaluate what they really wanted for each other. By being away, it made all parties realize how much they missed each other, but how awful they were all to each other previously.

I’ll eat a full stack of stuffed French toast if Sparkpelt actually changes. You see stories like Nightheart’s all the time on Reddit and my family was also horrible to me. Going back if the WORST choice you can make. If living with them makes them act that way, 9 times out of 10, they will slowly go back to how they were before but be more careful about it- gaslighting, love bombing, emotional manipulation, the works- to keep you from leaving again. The best thing you can do is get out and stay out because then they can’t have control. You go to visit mom’s house and mom says it’s such a shame you gave up the beau name she gave you? Tell her to drop it or you’ll leave. You meet up for lunch and mom starts comparing you to the dead grandfather she never even met? Walk away and don’t answer her until she apologizes. Grandma give you chores because mom said to do so to punish you for something? Tell grandma no and to stay out of your real with your mother. Nightheart going back to ThunderClan is the equivalent of a person who used to be the family scapegoat moving back in with the mother who abused him and his golden child sister. It’s not the wholesome family story the Erin’s want you to think it is. It’s a horrible idea that gives the wrong impress to vulnerable readers and I hate it. When I moved out, if some gave me a cat allegory to convince me “family is everything” I would have told them in great details where they can shove it. Nightheart didn’t truly miss his family. He was scared of the new life ahead of him and missed the only thing he’s ever known- abuse- because it seemed easier to him to just take it and ignore them than to build an entirely knew life for himself.

@@alexismyers6053 Yeah I agree with that! I honestly don't like the idea of Nightheart having to see the "good sides" of his familial relationships, when he wasn't the one doing harm. He had every right to get angry with Sparkpelt and his sister for villainising his name change, and I'm kinda tired of people trying to argue the "both sides were wrong" argument in these types of narratives. Nightheart should have gone through with his decision instead of being forced to fail on purpose because of some "family is important" nonsense. I also hate how she cats are being treated in this arc (though I'm not surprised). The majority of abusive figures in Nightheart's life are female, and Sunbeam is forced to fall head over heels for Nightheart and make the sacrifice to leave Shadowclan in the end. Once again, Warrior cats is making the female characters antagonistic to build up a male character, and forces another she cat to sacrifice way more for the male's sake. And again, that isn't Nightheart's fault-- it's the writers'. I stand by it when I say that Sunbeam and Nightheart are being abused by the narrative for the sake of stupid drama and toxic quotas they have to fill.

      @alexismyers6053 Год назад +6

@@pantherbeastly3934 exactly! I wanted Nightheart to try to leave the Clans entire, feeling he could never escape Firestar’s legacy. Since every cat and their mother typically goes to Twolegplace when running away, he knows this is the first place ThunderClan will look, so he chooses to go through WindClan and leave the Clans to the Northeast, where no Clan cat has explored yet. But on his way, he’s attacked by a bird of prey and saved by Breezepelt. Breezepelt yells at him and acts aggressively until Nightheart tells him what’s happening. Breezepelt sees his younger self in Nightheart and offers to having him come to WindClan, telling him how they don’t care much for Firestar and would judge Nightheart for who he is. Also pointing out that, as a Clan cat, Nightheart will struggle to survive completely on his own. Nightheart agrees, and when they ask Harestar, Harestar is upset. He gives Nightheart a challenge only “true” WindClan cats can complete- hunt a rabbit by himself. When Nightheart finally takes this test, he goes above and beyond by catching a hare (which is much larger and faster than a rabbit, so even seasoned WindClan warriors struggle to hunt them in groups). Maybe he does this on his own, maybe Smokehaze (Breezepelt’s deceased daughter) helps him, either way, when he returns with a bare instead of a rabbit, not only does he impress Nightcloud, Crowfeather, Harestar, and the medicine cats, but Kestrel flight tells Harestar that this is obviously a sign of StarClans approval of Nightheart’s place in WindClan. Harestar agrees and Nighthearts joins the Clan. He immediately is close to Breezepelt, who adopts him as a son (not to replace his deceased daughter but because he feels empathy and compassion for him). His daughters also immediately take to Nightheart and he has a romance with one of the younger 2 (I like Appleshine best) while the other younger daughter and Brindlewing see himself as a brother. He would start with the family he deserves and slowly earn his Clans respect through his own merit. His love interest’s entire personality wouldn’t be “just Nightheart’s crush/mate,” they would agree to go slow and let a relationship naturally build, starting with a friendship and building to a romance while building on the personalities of all three sisters and exploring how Breezepelt has changed since OOTS. Breezepelt would come to ACTUALLY redeem himself by helping keep Nightheart from going down the same path as him and by admitting to his wrong doings to Nightheart (taking ownership of his actions and expressing genuine remorse and desire to be better). It would be MUCH better than what we got in Crofeather’s Trail (“I was baby but now I’m good, you should just trust me.”) Nightheart would get what he needs- a family and Clan who love and support him for who he is- and Sunbeam can have her own story that isn’t so heavily twisted with Nightheart’s. We've also rarely gotten the perspective of a cat who needs to learn how to adapt to a new clan, which would have been a vital aspect of Nightheart learning to find himself. I honestly disagree with akira's assertion that the story was going in a good direction with Nightheart deciding to return to Thunderclan, as it just feels like a huge step back in his arc, as well as Sunbeam's. It would also be nice to see some new development from Breezepelt and see Night build off from that. I'm so tired of the Books' fixation on propping the status quo up as something noble to live by.

I'm not sure Nightheart's character deserves the hate it gets. I think a lot of people hold on to the fandoms version of Sparkpelt and that Nightheart's feelings toward her are overly emotional and unjust but looking at it solely from the canon books and thinking of her kits perspectives his feelings are just. Most of the hate toward the character that I've seen comes from people defending Sparkpelt but again just reading the books she is horrible to him and then his sister even begins to side with her. The way his sister, mother, and Squirrelflight treated him were awful and his descion to leave was warranted I really wish that the love plot wasn't involved and he left solely for himself but it's warriors what else is new. I also want to say he was a bit of an angsty teenager like when Alderheart was offering him advice and he refused it solely because Alder wasn't his father (that's stupid but his character is just starting out so it needs to develop from something). Night heart is by no means my favorite character and honestly by warrior cat standard is a decent one.

Okay here’s my theory for splash tail and frost paw. I knew it from the start and was like to my friends like 2 weeks ago “ SPLASHTAIL MURDERED FROSTPAW!” he was the ONLY one who knew about frostpaws mission, he sent her over to windclan territory and masked his scent to make the scene of a windclan cat killing her so he could avoid frostpaw actually coming to the conclusion that splashtail (or duskfur) killed reedwhisker. Here’s WHY I think he did this, in the book you can see duskfur and splashtail meeting with berryheart and her group, duskfur seems to have the intention of becoming leader, and possibly by promising splashtail deputy position after his position was taken by icewing. Splashtail said he was going to make a medicine cat no matter what, and after frostpaw completely seemed sure of resigning her position as a medic, she had a vision… a specific one which would in danger splashtail and duskfurs plan which is why she was ruled out and had to be killed. So in short, I think Duskfur is the murderer with splashtail as her accomplice. Also I really hope that if they squirrelflight frostpaw ( as in resurrect her), they make a new role for her or keep her as a warrior apprentice, it’s more unusual for a warrior to have this skill and I think she’d be better off as a warrior instead of having another shadowsight.

He's even the only cat that new she would be in Windclan that night, and she was attacked. Its obviously him! I could even go back to the gathering when Mistystar dies, and theres no mention of him being in camp. I bet that Splashtail killed Reedwhisker in plans to be made the next depudy before Mistystar dies, but to his dismay, his plan fails because she dies too. So the only cat left that can make him leader is Frostpaw, but once again, his plan fails, because instead of receiving a prophacy about who the next leader should be, it is reveiled that Reedwhisker was killed. So to keep the word of the truth from getting out, he has to kill Frostpaw now, the only cat who can make him leader by communicating with Starclan

Yeah, no, skip Nightheart going back to ThunderClan! Family are the ones who see your worth without having to be “shown.” If your mother and sister are true family, they see you for who you are and support you simply because you’re you. They don’t do what Finchlight and Sparkpelt did to Nightbheart. If your grandmother truly loves you, she makes time to listen to your problems and help you find solutions, not piles chores that others can help with on top of you and your alone like Squirrelflight did. I won’t say much about Bramblestar because he’s going through trauma right now, but I’m also not happy with how HE’S handles Nightheart’s situation, either. Has Lilyheart even SPOKEN to her grandson since he became a warrior? Have Alderheart, Honeyfur, and Leafshade EVER talk to him? Why is half of his family crap and the other half absent? Why isn’t Lilyheart or Alderheart telling Sparkpelt to get her crap together and be a good mother? Why does comforting Nightheart fall on SORRELSTRIPE, who is a relative but further removed than his sister, mother, grandparents, aunts, and uncle? Why does Nightheart even see Sparkpelt, who has been absent his entire life, as anything more than the ThunderClan cat who happened to give birth to him? She’s not a good mother, but he suddenly think of her as one because… Bramblestar said he has trauma? And why does ThunderClan NEED to get involved in moving ShadowClan out of RiverClan? Why can’t 2 Clans, whose territory flanks ShadowClan’s on both sides, be enough? Are they TRYING to reenact the Eclipse battle for SkyClan?
The Erin’s are sending a horrible message by sending Nightheart back. “It doesn’t matter how horribly your family treats you, they’re still family no matter what and you can’t abandon family!” You see this crap all the time in Reddit’s AITA sub. People who are mistreated all their lives and think that it’s “ok” and “normal” but then that final straw comes and they leave, only to be bullied into going back and continuing to be the families punching bag. Sending Nightheart back is sending a DANGEROUS message to people, especially the younger fans! If these characters were humans, wouldn’t we be looking at this situation differently?
A mother too racked with grief from a death of a loved one that happened YEARS AGO let’s it effect how she treats her son. She named him after her grandfather she never met for “reasons” (think, grandpa’s name was Johnathan, so mom names her son Johnny). He grows up hating his name and being compared to his long dead kin. His mother is absent most of his life and every time she tries to be close, she can only bring up her dead grandfather who, again, SHE’S NEVER MET. They get evicted at one point when the kids are teens and while his sister decides to live in the car with her mom, he chooses to stay with his grandparents in stable housing. But the situation doesn’t last more than a month or two. The son becomes a legal adult and immediately changes his name, but keeps the family name to stay connected to his mother, sister, and maternal grandparents (thinks Johnny Smith to Andrew Smith). He’s happy to have a name and legacy all his own. But his mother thinks she has a right to be upset over it. So she verbally abuses him then enlists her mother to help. Grandma is so caught up infantilizing her unwell husband that she can’t take a minute or 2 to question why her daughter wants her pile all her manual labor chores on him and not her other great grandchildren. She just does as daughter dearest asks and is SHOCKED when her great grandson hates it. So, Andrew Smith, not feeling loved by his family, moves to another township/county/whatever to be with his girlfriend. But now Grandma wants to stick her nose in other people’s business (just like the great grandfather Andrew was originally named after, which didn’t make him a very well liked person in other areas). It’s causing problems. So Andrew’s solutions is… to go back to the family that abused and neglected him because he wanted to be his own person? What would YOU tell a HUMAN in that situation? If you see Nightheart’s arc as a “feel good story about the importance of family,” will you still see it that way when put in the context of the characters being humans? Because it’s humans who read these books. If I can connect SOME of my own family abuse to Nightheart, who do you think readers in this exact same situation are going to feel? Especially the ones who were able to escape and never look back? The Erin’s ruined a good lesson about how if you want people to stay in your life, you need to treat them kindly ad turned it into a typical Reddit Karen’s wail of “but faaaamilllly!”

What GOOD mother thinks her child being happy is disrespectful or an attack on family? My mom is toxic af and yet SHE “understood” why I changed my last name (she got it half right by saying she knew how her husband’s family could be unwelcoming, which… they were to me, but… not as much as her husband, but I wasn’t going to start a fight with her about something she was being supportive of for once). I had to move 5.5 hours to another state to begin to feel like I can start setting healthy boundaries with my toxic family. About the villain
i think it's too obvious it's Splashtail... If it was really him, they would have already confirmed it to the Readers in some ways or another.
In "Into the Wild", that also has a murder, the identity of the killer was revealed in the middle of the book. There weren't that much characters involved, so it could be either Tigerclaw or Ravenpaw, so the culprit was obvious. In this case ? There are much more characters that we don't know much about (like in the first book, since there wasn't any PoV in Riverclan before), many possibilities with different characters having their own motivations.
Splashtail as a villain sounds too obvious to me.

If only we got to see Sunbeam's reasoning! We know she has a flaw of being conflict-avoidant, and her chasing after Nightheart could have been motivated by not wanting to cross her Mother & her Leader -- probably the biggest conflict she's had to deal with in her life. She has the perfect cover to escape the situation, and while sad, it makes sense to me that she would run away, especially since it mirrors Nightheart's earlier behavior. If this series stays on a good track, there'll be a better explanation and consequences. That ending was jarring though.

We don't have to accept Sunbeam as a ThunderClan cat until she's completed three trials, emotionally come to terms with going to war against everyone she grew up with, and, on a more meta level, found a way to continue the Beryheart's hate group plot line without a ShadowClan POV. They managed to make Nightheart become much less punchable relatively organically while (in my opinion anyway) still making him feel like Nightheart. (I mean look at him getting all offended at Berryheart and Yarrowleaf not complimenting the hunting skills of someone who's still paying his dues in a new Clan...but also accepting that he has to win Berryheart over and being forced to learn to swallow his pride.) They can give Sunbeam a similar character arc in the next book. *crosses fingers*

  • @goldenretrieversarethebest8119

What they should have done is have the relationship between Sunbeam and Nightheart break and then they grow to hate each other. Sunbeam then gets manipulated by her mother into waging war onto the other clans and then realizes her mother was wrong before stopping her and loving Nightheart again. They killed an entire minor plot line they could have had. Sometimes I just don't understand the writers.

OK! So I haven't read this book yet. But the video gave me a good enough idea to start theorizing! So in the next arc we might get a 'nah no lives for you' situation, meaning as much as I hate it, odds are in the big upcoming war, Berryheart or splashtail kills squirrelstar, and the other sneaks over to thunderclan and kills brambleclaw, leaving thunderclan now without a leader, and shadowclan is free to take them over. Skyclan flees the battle after this. Sunbeam becomes the antihero, siding with her mother and trying to tell herself it's all for the best. Nightheart has never been in a real battle before this and is overwhelmed and scared, attacking any shadowclan cat he can. Somehow he pins down blazefire. Lightleap sees this, and attacks him with no mercy. She manages to either half blind him, or damage his leg so badly it has to be removed. He is tiptoed around back in thunderclan, and eventually after enough sad sighs from his mother, pitying looks from his sister, and hostile interactions with sunbeam, he decides to leave thunderclan, changing his name to night, and changing his pronouns to her, making her untraceable. (Yes I included trans nightheart) sunbeam is in agony over helping to kill two officials and after a heated argument with her mother, resulting in a notch in her ear, she leaves shadowclan and goes to help thunderclan rebuild.

I wouldn't blame Nightheart for having his cake and eating it too tho. He has a small moment where he's back in ThunderClan and acknowledges the sacrifice he makes but thinks it's worth it. It's only when Sunbeam decides on her own to come to ThunderClan that he loses that sacrifice. I don't agree with Sunbeam's random swap but it feels unfair to put that blame on Nightheart. He has very strong character choices through this book that get undermined by the choices of others at the very end

WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE FROSTPAW SCENE DURING THE END OF HER LAST CHAPTER?!?! Can the Erins really kill her off? Or will StArClAn pull a Tigerheart/star revival? *visible confusion* and don't get me started on SPLASHTAIL. Couldn't the authors be a bit more... vague? And yes, I know thar it was very vague for the first two books and a bit of the third. I just want the villain development to be less noticeable until Thunder. EVERYONE KNOWS ITS SPLASHTAIL. He was REALLY uneasy when Frostpaw told him about her vision, like he didn't want to get caught! He even asked if she saw the fur color, and when she said no, I could FEEL the relief coming off him. And I'm guessing that he only told frostpaw that he liked her to gain her trust and make him seem innocent no matter what. And oh, with a former MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE, EVERYONE would believe him! BUT he didn't want any cat to hear about frostpaw's vision, so he killed her before she could tell anyone else. And in Thunder, he is probably going to make everyone pity him so that he can LURE more cats right in to his gleaming claws! I'm not sure about the motive, but I'm guessing that he wants to be leader. So my question is: WHAT THE FLIP IS GONNA HAPPEN TO FROSTPAW AND WHEN ARE THE CATS GONNA REALIZE THAT SPLASHTAIL IS EVIL?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (sorry about the rant)

I was so upset when Sunbeam went to Thunderclan. As far as I am concerned the love story should have ended with Sunbeam being heartbroken and abandoned. Nightheart should have gone back to his birth clan knowing that he will never gain back Sunbeams trust, maybe even initiating more conflict later in the arc or coming arcs as Sunbeam becomes more and more distrustful of others. They even set up Sunbeam going to Riverclan in her final chapter! I would have loved to see Sunbeam, crippled by her loss and insecure because of the heartbreak she has endured, find a place within Riverclan after Tigerstar sends her to live there, leave Shadowclan because going back reminds her too much of her pain, and become a strong and loyal warrior within Riverclan, and maybe even be the 'unexpected' cat Frostpaw was told should be leader. There was so much potential for the story! And I'm so sad that they threw it all away just for a bog standard love plot...
I really Hope I'm wrong and they redeem the plot, but I don't see how they will now that Sunbeam is another character who is nothing without their strong and capable love intrest by her side..
