    Great review! You should consider the Rekluse Core EXP on the YZ250X 2 stroke in particular. It would address the low end deficit compared to the 300 xc. It is magical and allows you run run a gear higher and eliminates the need for electric start, since it becomes almost impossible to stall...

    I have a 2015 YZ250FX, I ride in the mountains here in Alberta, and while I do agree with you that it would be nice to have a bigger tank, our regular rides are between 50-80km, (30-50mi) while still having lots of fuel left, and I've done a 130km, (roughly 80mi) day and still had just under a 1/4 tank of fuel. That's riding hard, fast, and trying some gnarly mountain hill climbs, By now I don't worry about running out of fuel. Everything else about the bike I absolutely love, and I would probably have a KTM as well, but like you have said before, the lack of a back up kick start is keeping me from owning one.
    Absolutely love the videos, and keep up with the reviews, these bike comparisons are great!

      I looked it up and the KTM has only 2.2 gallons so only .2 more. So really they are probably close unless the KTM motor or mapping gets better mpg

    LOVE my 16' XCF! I'm a little peeved it doesn't have a Kickstarter though, it's my ONLY gripe about this bike. I can't believe and furthermore don't understand why they wouldn't put one on a bike with a 2.6 gallon tank. They designed it for distance, not for dead batteries... Anyway, fantastic bike, never had a day that I wished for something else.

    I sold my yz250fx and bought a yz125, I am much happier with the 125 because of how light and nimble it is. Also the yz250fx did feel like a "thumper". Idk I just did not feel comfortable on the 250fx. Also the powerband on a 125 is so fun.

    I have a yz250x and a husky 300tx. Both phenom bikes....however the build quality of the Yamaha is hands down better. Want to know how Ktm sheds weight? Look around at the quality of some of the fasteners and parts. Of course the Yamaha steers heavier. The fork is where it’s supposed to be in the triple trees, and the sss stays planted. The suspension is not comparable even though ktm has gotten better. The ktm motor is awesome, but I believe these guys are just so used to ktm’s that they bleed them. I do however really value Kyle and his opinions, but I do believe there is some bias here.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys! These comparisons are always fun to watch. After riding my 2015 wr250f for a year and modding it a bit ($1000 is a good estimate of what the avg. rider will want/ need to add, wr and fx), I have gotten used to, and don't mind the quirks (gas tank, air filter, etc.). However, having to pull the subframe to remove the tank (PIA) is what sparks my interest in other designs such as KTM.

    The 250XCF gear box is 10% wider than the Yamaha. If first felt lower on the yamaha then it's cause the KTM had high overall gearing (factoring in internal gears), so it's 6th would have been much higher than the yamaha's, hence trouble pulling it. The gear box on the XCF is the same width as a 500XCW (this does not apply to other XC/F's.

    Sponsored by Ktm? Word choice and discussion topics point to biased “opinions.” “Hard to take off the air box cover”, “hard to take off the tank” no one care about convenience they care about practically and performance. “The ktm has a better battery” well the yamaha can afford to have a little bit of an outdated and heavier battery because it has a kick start! You said it yourself that you would sacrifice “less than ten pounds” for a kickstart. Basically paying 900 extra dollars for hand-guards and .6 extra gallons per tank.

      Kyler Carlstrom I have a 2019 KTM with no kick start. I asked the dealership about a kickstart kit and they told me it doesn’t matter. According to the parts guy at the dealer, if the battery is too low to start it, it’s too low to run the EFI and computer, so the bike wouldn’t run anyway. It didn’t really instill any confidence in my purchase.

    Wow.. Really? So hard to take off the air box cover. If you're nit picking such small things then talk about taking the gas cap cover off the ktm. Man up. I've seen plenty of ktm's going down the road to and from a race while missing its cover. I'll take the extra 10 seconds of taking off the cover knowing I won't lose it. If you guys are worried about the Yamaha feeling cramped then maybe mention it has 4 positions to adjust the handlebar position. I love your videos but this review was not very planned out nor informative.

    just bought a 2018 xc-f250 (with only 10 hours on it) based on this video. Let me tell you this thing is a dog! gutless pos! It stalls very easily and will not even pull the front wheel in 1st gear with out the clutch! I had a 16 yz250fx and it is day and night!!! Has anybody had this same experience?

    Could you guys compare the two stroke yz250 and 250 ktm xc as well?

    • @bradleygoodrich5569
      @bradleygoodrich5569 8 лет назад

      A C these two bikes are bikes that this guy owns. He's just a regular guy despite clearly being well off, he can't be buying a new bike all the time. That would eat anyone out of pocket unless you are a pro with sponsorships and millions of dollars.

    Awesome, honest, non biased review from real riders. Good job guys! Now if you could just get your hands on a Beta.
    Comparing top end power of the yz250fx to the 250x; would you say the yz250fx is close?

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  8 лет назад +1

      No, it's not close. The YZ250X has much more power and is at least twice the fun in my opinion. Just being honest.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  8 лет назад +1

      Oh, and I plan on getting a Beta next.
