I filmed this video just before having to return the Husqvarna TE 250i at the end of January 2017. At the time, I had just returned from a ride/filming day where we rode these two bikes and my 2017 KTM 250 XC back to back all day long. I had also ridden both bikes several times on their own to become comfortable on them. Most of us figured that we’d end up liking the Husky better than the KTM due to it’s linkage rear shock. Much to our surprise though, the KTM’s PDS suspension didn’t let us down, even in the high speed desert where we were doing our riding. It would have been nice to take both of them to the alpine single track, later this summer, but time wouldn’t allow it.
If I were to pick between the two, I’d give the slight favoring to the Husky, but it was splitting hairs for certain. There was just something magical to me about the way the Husky revved through the RPM range while I was riding it. I fell in love with both bikes and was terrible sad to have to return the Husky. As most of you know, I’m also giving the KTM away in a sweepstakes to a lucky viewer since I knew it was going to be a “hot bike”.
I can tell you one other thing too. Riding these bikes back to back with my 2017 KTM 250 XC shook my testimony of the XC because they were just that good. Enjoy the video.

Just curious between the KTM and the Husky, when the suspension is set up for your weight, is there a difference in seat height when sitting on the bike (basically I am wondering if the husky's linked suspension sites lower than the KTM PDS when loaded - allowing the rider to be closer to being flat footed). @@mvuyisenisofunwa1888 I think the primary advantage of linkage is anything at speed, I have not had a chance to ride both setups on similar bikes. I ride PNW trail all year round, stuff here gets gnarly real quick. The pds just seems to handle the slower technical stuff with ease while at the same time soaking up big square edges without making the experience uncomfortable or uncontrollable. I think both setups are good and really play their best when it's tailored to the rider which is something a lot of people don't do or overlook. First, I bleed blue... I have been riding husky for many years and I love them HOWEVER... I will be changing my next bike to the KTM for only one reason but I feel it’s a huge one.. “the subframe” I have now broken the subframe in my husky every year and multiple times on my current TX300... the cost is crazy for plastic and this is the story for many of my husky family friends. People everywhere have been reporting the same issues “especially in the winter months” and sadly, the guys at the husky shop say that the new 2020 is even worse, they can keep subframes in stock and report that they are robbing new bikes to keep up to the demands... I never thought I would publicly denounce husky but it’s time to move on... sad

You adjusted the power valve on a tpi? That's supposed to screw the ecu programming up.

hahaha how easy you to believe the rumours you heard... im using redspring on my 2018 ktm 250tpi exc.. 120 hours now without issue.... just remove the bottom end once at 80hours to change the piston set but i change mind after looking at the piston condition and measurement is just like new and nothing worn out, so just changed the rings only... worth it using a bit expensive 2t oil but after all it helps protects my piston from wearing, save a lot of money ..

In truth you may have run into noticing differences if you compared two of the exact models of KTM or Husqvarna. Sometimes identical machines run different.

Don't mean to be that guy but on a two stroke it is NOT a header pipe. It is an expansion chamber. Good vid.
