- After our enduro school training its was time to get some bikes on some local lanes and see what this enduro malarkey was all about.
The bikes of choice are the Husqvarna FE250 and the TE250i one being a four stoke the other the new fancy oil / fuel injected two stroke. Which one is easier for the beginner?
www.bywaymap.com/ is fantastic to see local lanes in your area

So great to see you doing this. I did an experience day a few years back and enjoyed it so much I ended up buying a bike and getting into green laning. It's great to get out into the countryside away from the tarmac and cars and just riding with your mates having a laugh, overcoming these little challenges and riding even when the weather isn't great. I have an mt09 in the garage as well and most of the time if I want to have fun I'd rather take the dirt bike. Looking forward to seeing more vids like this from you and I hope you get into it. 👍👍👍
Absolutely love it.
Awesome video as usual chops. Entertainment at its finest.
Thanks Dean!!
great to see enduro on your chanel !!
You always make me smile, thanks, great vlog
Thanks Nick
I just love your videos - class!
Good to see you back on the Enduro’s Chops😎🤘
Thanks Neill, love it!
Love this content on your channel chops, brilliant 👊
Great to hear Hammy :-)
That was absolutely brilliant! Looks like a hoot!
Wicked vid mate love the bikes well looking forward to the next vid goodman 👌👍🙏
Thanks Mat!
Great video Chops. Looks like a damn fine time. Kudos to Womble, looking much more comfortable than on the Ady Smith vid. Looking forward to MORE DIRT!
Peace!
Thanks Graden, shhh keep that sort of talk about Womble to a minimum, dont want it going to his head :-)
I had an MT10 and traded in for an FE250, never looked back! looking forward to another summer of dry dusty trails.
You looked very competent, impressive riding Chops.
Great vid 👍
Nice one Mr. Chops & Womble, should have riden through the grounds of Bedales School, they'd have loved it.
Me and my brother had a old trial motorcycle when i was 12 years old we road the living christ out of that thing on a old scrapyard and the woods not far from our home this video brings back greet memory's thanks lads 👍
Thanks Kevin :-)
Larking about in the mud on a 250! Life don't get much better!
Very true!! :-)
good to see you two on the dirt Chops, i do love me two smokes
I just got a TE250 2012 4 stroke to start enduro paid £2000 and its like brand new. Im so exited after watching this video to get out on the bike
i ride the TE 250 2023 . i love it ! Great control on the bike .
Did you get a chance to ride an FE 350? And if so, how did it compare? I have a deposit on the same bike as you, but not sure if I should get the 350 instead
the sweet sound (and smell) of a two-stroke ! 2-strokes are becoming more and more rare here in the USofA :(
Great video looking to get an fe 250/350 soon
Thanks for that map link great website!
Yeah lads, it´s about having fun and driving around, it totally comes through! :)
Great video choppsy thoroughly enjoyed that - and I'm not buying this "I'm a novice" bumfluff that stuff looked truly terrifying!! What fabulous bikes though, loved the sound of that 2 stroke and was imagining the smell (except in the pig shite full puddles) throughout....interesting to hear you preferred the 4 stroke.....great stuff, have a fun weekend and I look forward to seeing the next vid. ATB mate - TMF
Thanks TMF, yes that downhill was very scary, you know how the Gopro flattens everything and you can really double the scale of what you see on camera! Bikes were amazing, Im very tempted to get myself something now.. Or maybe just bite the bullet and take my shiny 500 off-road!! Need a longterm off-roader!! Husky, KTM, Honda what you got?? haha
@@LambChopRides Yes every motorcyclists garage should have one I reckon (even if it is only for nipping to the shops like mine!!) - I love the looks of dirt bikes and their light weight....who needs a litre bike?! (OK, I need one of those as well....)
Great vid 👌
I'll be there next week :) ... good vid; more, pls
Down and dirty with a 2 stoke....love it!
Love the thought of a refined 2 stroke with fuel injection, I expect they can smooth the power band out with injection as well. Green laning brings it all back to me from when I used to ride around the common as a kid. Brilliant stuff, great Video, thanks
Yes they are good Brian, I love the injected two strokes it makes owning one so much more accessible without having premix etc. Thanks for the kind words matey :-)
@@LambChopRides Well what can I say, you keep delivering the best bike videos by a long chalk. I find some of the other bike vloggers are getting a bit like the old Top Gear program where it became more about them as personalities rather than the cars. I think you know who I am referring to.
I feel a bit bad about what I just said about another bike channel, they still produce great content and go to great lengths to produce it. its all down to personal preference. I just prefer the balance you strike......
@@BrianMcCann421 Thanks Brian really appreciated buddy
Novice... my arse! :D Great vid mate, them lanes were proper soggy. Really looking forward to your next instalment! :D
haha, I'm a novice matey, bikes just flattered me! Next EP should be brilliant, some proper scary stuff we did :-)
@@LambChopRides It proper pushed my comfort zone! :D
Interesting vid. Did I see Horndean at the start of your ride? If so it's good to know there are some lanes local to me. I'm in Pompey and have been thinking of adding a basic MX bike to my garage - just a cheapo CRF250. Not sure I'm brave enough to take my Triumph Street Scrambler off road.
Yes im local to Horndean Pez so your close to me!! We are lucky a lot of lanes around our area to play on so get one!! :-)
Man I wish we could ride dirt bikes on the street. Love it
Hey buddy, looks like you had fun! The Byways out you way look interesting, sadly I’ve not been out on my 300tpi for a while as have a trapped nerve in my back and may need surgery so gutted as no riding for me! Have book a trip to Wales in May with the lads and are hiring a guide, Hope I’m better by then! Cheers, G-man
Thanks Gman and sorry to hear about the back that's no fun 🙁 yes I'm quite lucky as I can be on byways within 1 mile of my house and can plan an interesting enough route. Get well soon mate and Wales sounds amazing!
Lamb Chop Rides , thanks mate, I’ll message you about Wales as have room for you guys, I’ll send you info 👍
Nice mate I’ve just got into enduro I can’t go green laning as I’m only 13 but I’m on the adults enduro and I’m looking at hopefully getting a ktm 125 exc for enduro as they have more power for it. Also I love your channel keep up the good work! 👍
Thanks Josh!!
Perfect day 😀
It's great watching non enduro guys ride off road
Our old stomping ground 😁. The 4 strokes are definitely more beginner friendly than the 2 strokes - and I’d have my 250F over a 250TPI any day. Not a trail in the area you can’t do on a GS with decent tyres if you try hard enough though. 😁👌🏻
Yes I was surprised how much easier it was, but think I would still go for the 2-stroke for the maintenance ease. Agreed on the GS, just need bigger balls :-)
hia mate cracking video, can i ask for some advice, im saving to get a husky at the moment but im torn between the fe250 and fe350,, im going to be a newbie to trail riding, only done road riding, my last 2 bikes was a fireblade and a harley so power doesn't scare me (much) lol,, but can u tell me would the 250 be enough power or do u think id grow out of it and so do i get a 350 to start and stay with or something to work up to,, any info would be greatful cheers 😉👍
If you havent made your mind up, then world class enduro riders tend to ride 250-300 2Ts. If it enough for them, itll be plenty for anyome doing that sort of riding
This should be titled 'Two go hooning about' Great vid LC - 👍
Thanks Marc
You want to get yourself along to an enduro “pay and play” track day - so much fun and you’d learn a lot too.
OK will check them out! :-)
Looks like you had great fun on two very good bikes for “green laning” not enduro
Enduro racing is a lot harder.
Nice one chops enjoyed that. Looking forward to that next video, is that some dorking lanes and the punch bowl?
Tip for you both... seal skin socks full length! You would have thought MX boots would be some what waterproof hey (I know I did) may as well be riding in sandals they let so much water in 😂😂
The second video is the Punch Bowl these were some local to me. Yes with you on the boots and thanks for the sock tips 👍will check those out 😎
@@LambChopRides can see why I'm not taking the husaberg up there at the moment on road tyres hey 😅
Hell yes!! 😂😂
Great vid Chops! Go team ' Muddy Rutters' For some reason I can't post a comment on Patreon but can see the previews. Looking forward to the next ' Dirty Video'
Thanks Rob, thats weird you cant post.. Nice to hear from you on here at least :-)
so you prefer 4stroke?
You should've send those GS's up that chalky hill and film it. 👿 😂.
Great vid Chops 👍👍👍. I'm surprised the four stroke is so lively.
Haha thanks Chris I was tempted 😂😂 yes that 250 four stroke was so pokey!! Incredible for a 250, I would have guessed 350 at least!
I don't think either of them wanted to go anywhere near that lane again 😂
they're probably still standing there 😱 😂.
2stroke has come on a bit in recent years as it all but died out but, and it’s a big but, all the investment has gone into 4 stroke.
Great fun 😃😃😃
Lovely.
Where exactly this trails are?
I know where you were coming from about taking heavy bikes like the GS off road can be tricky.
To blame the bike though like some people do just cannot be true. I did notice you saying you wouldn't want to rather than couldn't. A GS for example with the right tyres on should be able to tackle any trail really. If you are a slight build you may struggle picking one up off the floor. Apart from that the bike will go anywhere, what will stop it is the riders capability not the bikes. Or the worry of paying for damage to an expensive bit of kit.
Those GS's have crossed continents numerous times.
Yes sure you could do it... I just wouldnt want to as Im not experienced enough or brave enough :-)
@8:35 You don't like standing up ??? Standing up on a dirt bike is like using a clutch..
You have to do it to ride properly.. no hate.. just sayin
I hate chalk lol , that 2 stroke sounds good .
That sudden breaking before a puddle....if it were me, i'll creating another puddle on my pants..lol..
How do the think the 690 enduro would cope with these types of lanes?
I will be trying it Owen.. The only drawback is tyres are more road focused but lets see!!
At least up there the GSses wouldn't be nicked immediately when parked in the bog.
Mate I own that te250i
I enjoyed that ride out, thoroughly entertaining and I didn't get wet or dirty.
hehe, thanks John :-)
Excellent vid, looks a lot of fun. Bikes are quite expensive though, I suppose you get the what you pay for.
Yes thats true Digger, they are expensive but ability of the bikes shines though tbh. You can buy cheaper and still have serious fun but these IMO are the ultimate weapons for hoonage
You both need to stand up and get over the front of the bike arms bent inline with the bars legs slightly bent and loose on the vars just let the bike go where it wants to and look as far ahead as possible and when going downhill get your ass over the backtyre not the front and try using both brakes itll suprise you how much front you can use even in the wet
The problem I have is its so slippery one slip and if your stood up Im off. Sat down you can put your leg straight down and recover it.. If the terrain is more grippy then standing is fine, the suspension is so good it can allow you to sit in all but the roughest if terrain. But yes I do need to standup more and get used to it..
@@LambChopRides trust me im 5'2 i can barely dab a foot either way doing it stood up makes you need to put a foot down less as then not only do you have the suspension of the bike but your legs will also compensate for the bike moving beneath you. If you can find some i suggest going and doing some trials tuition days but on the enduro bikes theyll force you to ride all day stood up and teach you really good body position and i also recomend joining the trf they will give you advice on lanes legallity give you groups to ride in all legally
OK thanks Nayr, I will look in to that cheers. The lanes we were on are all legal ones, very careful about what route we planned.
@@LambChopRides just be careful going off of an os map or viewranger isnt proof that the lane is still legal if you want to be 100% check on your areas list of streets.
The whole mapping route plotting side can be a pain in the arse to learn its taken me 2 and a half years
If it’s too slippery where you are just turn around and go to the many other spots you can ride,,, or maybe in England you don’t have as many choices to go like we do in the USA ?????
Not much choice around our way Mike, lanes a few and far between. If your out in Wales or Scotland different but south coast very limited
@@LambChopRides There's virtually nothing in Scotland as the right of way law is different. Choice has become much restricted in England over the years largely due to folk blasting about on noisy, aggressive looking, competition machinery (does that seem familiar?) which brings forth complaints, rather than using the old mild mannered trail bike.
2 stroke for shure
we ride them lanes on big adventure bikes
Even this time of year Hutch? Blimey thats brave :-)
we do struggle on some. we are just off to Spain and Portugal for 3 weeks on the TET. nice to see you getting off-road. ill share this video on big bikes off road
Thanks very much Hutch appreciated and enjoy your trip sounds amazing!!
Buddy ur on a quad trail
Womble on the rollies yewwww
Hes a dirty sod haha
Womble.....Whatever you plan it's not gunna happen, so don't plan. That sounds like a plan!!! (13.30)
Thats the sort of logic I have to work with!! haha
👍👍🇨🇦
your sliding everwhere because your not stood up
