Justin H so far the only thing I don’t like is the seat. It’s hard but grippy. I think it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. Light, fast, smooth, starts easy, good suspension. 40-45mpg so far.
Thanks a lot for this Review. I actually ride a beta 350 rr and want to add a 2 Stroke. I am a beginner. What you recommend the husqvarna te 250 or beta 200 rr for a new guy? I mostly ride mx/enduro tracks, but wants to get deeper into technical stuff. I am 5'9 and about 140lbs. Regards from germany
on the cold start issues, all KTM/Huskys do this. There's a procedure to get the bike to start. Cold start button, crank the battery, wait for 30 seconds and do it again. The cold start button is essential At 0c the bikes won't start otherwise
Thank you for your reviews. I grew up on bikes in the 80s and have some long standing notions on what I though were the best bikes for trail riding, but you have completely re-educated me. I'm saving up for a new bike this spring, and these reviews are very helpful. I find it amazing that I'm seriously considering two stroke non-japanese bikes for technical woods trails.
computer not working... I noticed earlier in the video that you lost the magnet from your rotor so the computer never knows the bike is moving. Maybe it's also wiring as you mentioned. Also FYI you can install a racing map now which ditches the "slippery terrain" map for a higher performance racing map.
No matter what it's always a design issue. When I bought the bike, that was the first thing I mentioned "how do you know how much oil to fill?". They say, "fill it until you can see the oil" and immediately I think: then how can I remove oil if it's too full. No, it's not a user issue, it's a design issue; how to fix it? Simple, a 10 cent engineering change - put a flexible dipstick on the filler cap.
You should hit me up if you're ever in Oregon or Washington. I've got a vintage (1982) Husky 250 I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on. Also got a Maico 440 you could try. I think your mind will be blown right out of the gate with the left-side kick starts! Especially the 440. Starting that monster requires a secret blend of technique and testicle.
Hey guys. I need some serious advice on whether I should get the Husky 250i or the KTM 250 XC W without the TPI because they sold all of the KTM TPI bikes and won't be getting any more. Is there any issues on either bike that should be addressed? Any opinions and the reason for that opinion will be appreciated. Both models are 2018 if you wanted to know.
I’m new to bikes and not good in math . Still you share a wealth of knowledge that I can use in learning bikes and the different parts of it . I wish I had friends who were like you I probably would have been riding and learning how to do basics long ago . Sigh
Just bought a 2023 heritage TE 250 , year great bike . Compared to your test bike , no kick start but starts first go every time . Has a cut away the right side panel to access rear shock . Has a push kill switch as well as the on/off switch . So maybe Husky took note of your gripes.
I got this bike and love it. Has a kill button, so no worries on the issues of a kill switch. Starts with no issues, but haven't started it the cold that Kyle was in. Runs so good and smooth. Feels super light compared to my previous Yamaha 450. Great review!
Also you are not supposed to fill the oil past the reservoir under the seat. If you fill it right up the tube in the frame it can/ has been known to cause the tube to fail.
Your video is the best👍 I ride enduro for 10 years, just 4t, most exc 450. Now i have bean sick and havent ride enduro for 3 years, just sportbikes. I am 48 and 110 kg. Do you think i am to heavy for the 250 2t and go for a exc 350 4 t instead? Excuse my english.. Best Daniel
I know you'll be fine on either both bikes,I'm about the same weight as you. I had a 2016 350 exc-f and I had no issues at all with the suspension due to my weight and height 5'11". I did 70 mph on stock gearing and there was still more throttle I could give if I wanted to
Looking at 250 2 stroke brand new 2021. They only issue I have so far it does not come with a kick-start. Should I be concerned and how do I go about changing that. Buy different bike??
Just got the bike. Wow this thing is amazing there was a few times I thought I was going down and just a power alone kept me connected to the ground like you say. So happy I bought this bike. No complaints and it also came with a different style oil cap it's a 2022. Pivots and locks.
My son just bought a KTM 125xc. It fouled 8 plugs in the first 10 hours. He took it to the dealer because they told him it needed a MAP update. The new update seemed to unlock the ECU and now it runs like it should. Sad that it could leave the dealership like that. Headlight? They are LED now. I was going to buy a TE250. I started looking up where all the parts were coming from. The trail ran cold in Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan and China. These bikes wouldn’t be affordable if they didn’t globally source parts. My sons bike is absolutely amazing now and I’m thinking KTM.
Ya nice enough bike, but the build quality is not as nice as a Yamaha or Honda, and I see the oil tank cap is leaking already like others have complained about, let us know when your tank cracks like the others out there, was going to buy a 300i but after running a TC250 for a couple months, buying a new Yamaha again, and saving myself 4 grand, I can put that into a YZ and It will outlast the Euro junk all day long.
Great review. I've always been pro carburetor but after watching your videos on both ktm and HUSKY bike's you got me thinking about trying the fuel injected HUSKY.
CHANGE THE SPARK....i have a brand new KTM 250 TPI, so injected 2 stroke like this husky, and after only 20 hours of riding, one day the bike didn't start at all....and after trying everything i asked to a friend that has the exact same bike as mine, his bike has only 15 hours more then mine, and he told me that he also had this problem the day before me, he also tried everything and ended up solving this issue by removing the spark plug and discovering that was gone and totally dirty...he changed the spark and the bike started at the first try. So i did the same and also my bike started with no problem. I think it's strange that a new bike has to change the spark after 20/30 hours..... Anyway, few weeks ago KTM has realesed new mapping for the TPI. They realesed 2 maps for the 300s and just 1 map for the 250. I immediately charged this new Ecu mapping on my 250 TPI and, like i was expecting, it seems that they finally put more torque on the low rpm, taking some power away from the high rpm. I still didnt t tried the bike on a real endure ride, but you i can definitively feel the increased power at low rpm and also less power at highs rpm...It seem that now the bike has also less problem with the starting and it seems to me also that when you start the bike cold you can see LESS smoke coming out of the pipe than before, so in my opinion before this new mapping the bike was running too rich. but i don't know at all, is just my humble opinion
I just bought the 2011 husky te 250 (4 stroke back then) for my first bike and I freaking love it!! Such a fun bike!! I just want to ride every day now. Love the video’s and social media. Keep up the great content!
Great review. That long start issue is exactly why I bought the 2018 xcw 300 I stead of the 250 tpi. I race hare scrambles from a dead start and J noticed that the tpi bikes took longer to start. I hope they tweak it in the future
I get it, for a lot of people this is the answer. but you can not do something like this with out taking something away. frankly most people do not need to have a perfectly tuned bike. I would never have a fuel injected bike simply because, they just do not last. if you ride that thing much you will be doing a top end every year because they run so lean. I have raced 2 strokes all over the western states and for the most part I never had much trouble getting them to run well. In Colorado with the elevation so high, maybe that is a concern but for most people a Lectern carb is more than enough to get it to run rite. even when I was running a Mikuni carb I simply looked at the chart that told me what jets I needed to change. in most cases, going either up jet richer or one jet leaner was enough to get it to run will.
I really enjoy your videos now as I used to enjoy DB magazine in the 80s! Thank God in Europe the carbs have still six years before they’d be fased out!😉
The front wheel rotor is missing the magnet which the computer read. I have lost a few on my FE501s and when that happens the computer goes black, no reading.
kyle what is your suspension set up on this bike? i have a 300 and i am wondering what you have your clickers set at for riding. Thanks in advance and great videos.
I have the 250i and have an issue when you shut the throttle off ,it end up with the bike having a jerky feel on the over run,do you have any issues with yours Kyle, cheers,Paul
As usual, awesome review. Love your channel, keep it up, one of the best review and informative dirt bike channels out. Always look forward to the reviews as they've helped me make informed decisions.

Your starting to sound just like those magazine reviews, Kyle. Lol. Tell us your selling your 17 250xc for this bike. It’s that good. And all that extra weight is a good thing too, it make the front end feel more planted as like a 4 stroke. Btw can you make this bike run with out a battery? :)
Question: you mentioned there was something about the oil reservoir you don’t like... My guess and concern: does it only work with the manufacturer recommended oil? How does it release as far as ratio goes? 50:1 80:1 etc...?
Im not going to buy new, its just too expensive. You should make a video on whether or not a new bike e.g 2018/2017 ktm or sherco is worth the extra money compared to a buy a newer bike. 👍🏻
If you wont buy new why do you care how they compare? You should do the research and make a video about it. Then watch it and then youll know if its worth it.
Do me a favour. Take the forks off and push down on the compression fork with the clickers all the way up and all the way down let me know if you can tell a difference? i sure cant!
can you really say it won't do well in the gnarly stuff if its winning tons of extreme enduros in europe? i'm not sure it gets more gnarly than that.
I just bought my 2019 TE 300i!
Justin H so far the only thing I don’t like is the seat. It’s hard but grippy. I think it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. Light, fast, smooth, starts easy, good suspension. 40-45mpg so far.

Refreshing to watch a video about a dirt bike and not be inundated with sweepstakes entry pressure. Love more back to the basics content.
Kyle, I bought a KTM 250 Xcw TPI. Your review was one of the first on the internet. You are printing money for KTM/Husq
Keep it up!!
Appreciate the vids Kyle

I would like an smartphone app that would allow me to tune the bike on the fly.
or at least a multiple position switch that changes the tuning between a couple different maps.
Eventually there will be a fuel controller option with map options.
they already put a map switch on these bikes
You can with 2018 YZFX's.
@@jeffloucks2120 ... I wish my 2018 YZ250 2-stroke had that feature
So, which 1 would you pic. Husky TE250i or BETA 300 rr Race edition?
I'd take the husqvarna

Can efi get restricted from bad fuel like a carburetor ? In other words, does it need any maintenance ?
Slow starting is a huge bummer for people that do races with dead engine starts.

Hey man, we have seen the factory riders using an aluminium capfor the 2 stroke oil reservoir, where can we get that????????
You should review a Detroit Diesel Series 71 2 stroke.
Just bought a 2023 heritage TE 250 , year great bike .

What about the consumption? How many miles does a tank full of gas?
I was in a Husky store looking for one of these yesterday! What a coincidence :)
And I was in that same store, crazy ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Gauthier DC I own the store
Great review. Appreciate your input.
Absolutely quality review. Thankyou- I enjoyed watching.
Will the fuel injected 2-strokes still foul spark plugs like the carburetor bikes?
Bill Prestage I don’t think they do
Why is the afl grand crap in your video
Great review! Love the honest opinions you share.
Yamaha saves 2 Strokes 😅👍😬
You should review an electric bike someday.
Grant Victor Would love to see an Alta

Thanks, man you are an amazing person, and thanks for that great review !!! Owner Huski TE250i 2019
Honestly considering chopping in my Harley for one of these..
Do it these are much better
Qw3rTyFWEEE Know anyone in the UK that wants to buy a Harley..?
Ben WoodHead no
Element 115 That’s super helpful, thanks so much. Though I guess I should just be grateful you learned the one word your mum never bothered with..
Element 115 😂 Wind that slack jaw in boy, I didn’t realise you were quite so afraid of education..
yz250 all day long !!!!!!

pick pick pick.... we all know yer biased to that orange bike.... but that Husqy is just got more class !
Do you prefer a 2016 model of this bike or a similarly equipped KTM 250 2 stroke?
just picked up my '22 TE250i, can't wait to take it out. You know, when Arizona stops burning :(
How much hp does it have??

Hey thanks for posting, I am moving from a 17 fc350 to a 20 te250i and this definitely made me feel better about it!
Thumbs up Kyle. Amazing content. Great !! Wery helpful. Pleasure to watch.
kyle what is your suspension set up on this bike? i have a 300 and i am wondering what you have your clickers set at for riding. Thanks in advance and great videos.
I have the 250i and have an issue when you shut the throttle off ,it end up with the bike having a jerky feel on the over run,do you have any issues with yours Kyle, cheers,Paul
Any chance of reviewing the 2021 150's? Apparently the ECU maps are awesome now
Where did you get those aftermarket levers from ? Nice video pal
When you stop the bike, why wouldn't you hit the switch back over?? I do that with everything i own with a kill switch.
hey when are you going to review the 2018 gasgas ec300, i rode one i and i swear its nicer than any other 300 twostroke i have ever ridden
They were leaking oil that’s so dumb I hope KTM fixes that with the 2019 tpi
Can any one tell me if your 300i has the same bottom end as the 250i or is it all new down there cheers🇬🇧😳
great stuff, wish I could buy one but as you know im 15 lol ill stick with my kx for now
As usual, awesome review. Love your channel, keep it up, one of the best review and informative dirt bike channels out. Always look forward to the reviews as they've helped me make informed decisions.
Hey Kyle. I’m responsible for the 5th comment and 8th like :)
are this bikes very reliable. Or should I just stick with a yz250
Do they come stock with all the blue anodized parts? Levers pegs etc
Awesome video Kyle, Come out to New England one of these days and get into some real gnarly stuff!
Any idea if and when these motors will be available in the XC, TX versions?
Better Than beta 200rr for a beginner? First dirt bike
I have a beta 200rr. It’s an amazing bike. The 200 is a better beginner bike imo because you focus on your clutch and throttle work more than you will with a 250. It makes you a better rider. I’m going to a 250 this year for the extra power but I’m glad I started with the 200 first. It made me a better rider.
Cold start probably isn't fuel but not enough amps in battery due to cold.
Tyler Padgett The cold start issue is probably because the EPA approved fuel mapping is lean.
It describes it in the manual that the reason it cranks slow when cold is the lithium ion battery, it can’t provide high amperage when below about 70 degrees Fahrenheit. If you hold the start button for 15 seconds then wait 15 seconds it warms up the battery then cranks fast. If it bothers you then get a agm battery.
I bought the 2020 model and it starts no problem even below zero, you press starter once it primes the battery wait 30 secs then hit it again she starts right up,once she's warm only need to press once. Very happy with it.
Thank for this review. Warts and all ! You have convinced me to go and buy a TE 300i
The side panel thing isn’t that big of a deal, takes two seconds...
Please Update on the premix oil cap, to see if there is an aftermarket solution
Hey man in all the bikes the husky have the better Sharkey's
Hey man in all the bikes the husky have the better Sharkey's
i had unexpected dangerous hits with xplor forks on my 2017 model (even after respringing). they dive so much with braking and blow thru the stroke...wonder if they made miracles for 2018 model?
I think they gave it thicker tubes, and more adjustment. Possible the adjustment enough is enough to help from blowing through the stroke.
Just kidding! Good first review. I’m sure you have now secured your loyalty for husky to send you the next loaner bike ha ha Ha!
Question: you mentioned there was something about the oil reservoir you don’t like...
My guess and concern: does it only work with the manufacturer recommended oil? How does it release as far as ratio goes? 50:1 80:1 etc...?
I heard at idle they are actually sitting close to 100:1.
Not sure, but I also heard with the efi the 2 strokes actually engine brake now.
Your reviews are always great it's amazing how you find those little defects
Im not going to buy new, its just too expensive. You should make a video on whether or not a new bike e.g 2018/2017 ktm or sherco is worth the extra money compared to a buy a newer bike. 👍🏻
If you wont buy new why do you care how they compare?
You should do the research and make a video about it. Then watch it and then youll know if its worth it.
check an outboard dealer for a better oil cap gasket
"Two minute long didn't watch ur video..." hilarious!
What do you prefer 125 2 stroke or 250 4 stroke?
Hey guys, does anyone know how the power kyles 2017 ktm 250 EXC would compare to my 2016 YZ450F?
YZ450F has alot more power than an enduro 250 two stroke.
SHERCO 300 SER / HUSKY 250 TPI /KTM 250 TPI ? ?
Do me a favour. Take the forks off and push down on the compression fork with the clickers all the way up and all the way down let me know if you can tell a difference? i sure cant!
it's high speed compression damping that you adjust on the comp side not low speed
That right side panel is a disappointing design.
I will bring my Husky’s
KTM, has a map switch available, with a race map !! Mate got his new 300 with it installed !!!!!
But on a more expensive Six Days edition right ?
is the Husq motor same as the KTm motor?
2019- Bike should start
that was awesome! thanks Kyle.
Whats the cost of the damn thing???
One of these days .......nice bike .
