Miku Kobato, rhythm guitar/second vocals, code name: Small Pigeon
MISA, bass player, code name: The Barefoot Assassin
'World Domination' - Band-Maid's fifth studio album
Misa plays barefoot whenever convenient and wears a "Maid Costume" that is based on the look of a Chinese housekeeper, but because it's black, it makes her look a bit like a Ninja: thus the nickname of "The Barefoot Assassin"
Miku Kobato, is fascinated by pigeons, claims to 'identify' as a pigeon, and ends nearly every sentence with "po!" as if she were cooing like a pigeon. Her Zemaitis guitar is that brand's only 'signature' model, the 'Zemaitis A24MF-FP BAND-MAID Miku Kobato Flappy Pigeon Signature Black' created especially for Miku to her design. Miku repeatedly states that Band-Maid's "Ultimate Goal" is World Domination.
Band-Maid is Japan's penultimate Anti-Idol group. The members have assumed somewhat silly personas and "Charm points" that parody the Idol Group format common in Japanese popular entertainment. For example Saiki is "The Ice Queen" and when asked her "Charm Point" she icily states, "I don't have one."

BTW: in the 'Giovanni' instrumental, Miku is playing her Zemaitis "Aces and Eights", a guitar that features a beautifully etched metal face plate, not her black "Flappy Pigeon" which has colored floral mother of pearl inlays as well as an intricately etched face plate.

🍕 🦇 💀 With the lyrics removed, Kanami’s guitar work steps out front. Until I saw them close up and live, I didn’t fully realize how much she does during every song. She doesn’t have to. Normal guitarists don’t bother. But she’s a musician and composer first, guitarist second.
And same for MISA. She plays far beyond what would “pass” for a bass line for the same reason.
And the secret weapon? Miku. Her straightforward rhythm guitar gives Mincho and MISA freedom to fly

Both Kanami, MISA and Akane program the midi of the composition without considering weather or not it is physically possible to play. Then they start to practice at a slow bpm and gradually ramp it up.

🍕So, I was working at Ray's on 11th in NYC in the Fall of 2019. I was about to close up, but 5 cute ladies dressed in maid outfits strolled in.
First and only time I've ever made a half banana and half dried salmon pizza..
They ate, had some coffee (I swear the tall one spiked hers with Beam), gave me about 17 Arigatos and bows, and faded out into the New York early morning mist.

    BAND-MAID is awesome because:
    - their PROWESS as musicians
    - their tightness and cohesion as a band

    - their genre-bending RANGE as composers and lyricists
AND on top of ALL that, their LOVE for their fans, and their FUN, FUNNY, and FUNKY personalities!
Their is NO other BAND that I know of that both GENERATES and RECEIVES SO MUCH ENJOYMENT in their performances!

Many of us have sat through and watched 30 + minute reaction videos of a reactor breaking down a song into it's sections and describing things such as the theory behind the music, or highlighting various stand out parts of tee performances. There is another reactor who will compare live versions against the MV and the studio version and acoustic versions as well.

Band Maid inspires one of the following "takes" from other musicians: (a) you vow that you will do whatever it takes to get better; (b) you largely have been putting your music aside, and they inspire you to get back into it; (c) You hear them perform, you say "Why do I bother?", and throw your instrument in a dumpster; (d) despite the evidence before you, you embrace denial, insist that they are overrated, and push the whole matter of their fantabulism (of course that's a word) aside.

This is from the "DVD/Blu-ray (First Press Limited Edition)" of Unseen World where they included 20 White Room instrumental videos, 4 songs each done with one each view of each player and one cutting from one to the other which is what this one is. They did the same thing for other songs on special editions of Conqueror and Unleash.

Nice reaction, bro! Glad you discovered this crazy instrumental version. A lot of reactors don't even realise that they are ingenious composers of complex songs and that their unique playing style is sometimes hidden under the catchy chorus.

Band-Maid's music is like eating a funky bowl of grungy punk hard rock and metal cereal with a splash of progy whisky milk and sprinkled jazz blues sugar that goes snap, crackle and POP! 💥

Where is BM4Life when you need him. So, here goes.
Miku (red flower, Band founder, rhythm guitarist, lyricist, mostly backup vocals, sometimes lead vocalist, nickname The 810 year old Pigeon (you'll have to study))
    Saiki is the lead singer.
MISA, MISA, MISA on bass is The Barefoot Assassin. She never wears shoes.
Kanami (Kanamincho, Mincho, Minchozilla) lead guitar. Take a look one day at a closeup of her left hand fingertips. Commitment.
Akane (the Gorilla 🦍) on drums.

I think it was during covid that Akane practised blastbeats. She mentioned to Kanami that she'd like a song with blastbeats and Kanami immediately pulled out a demo with blastbeats for her. I don't know if it's made it into a released song yet, maybe someone more knowledgable than me can say.

Some of the coolest Band Maid videos are often removed by youtube and this is one of them (I assume some type of copyright issue). It seems the reaction videos are able to stay up though. There are some amazing performances on foreign sites .

Thanks for the pin. I'm copying my own comment from somewhere else, but I love this song so much and I think it's one of the best tracks on *"Unseen World."* It also becomes a different song with the vocals, and the instrumental version is missing something without them. Many people won't agree with me and that's okay. I think the song gets too dense for some listeners, but in my personal opinion this is a brilliant masterpiece; a pièce de résistance (🍕 Ω).
The title and lyrics refer to a classic Japanese fantasy novel written about 1927 by Kenji Miyazawa and published posthumously in 1934. The following comes from Wikipedia which has a lot more information; like a footnote with a link to a website with a list of English translations and other stuff, and a lot of information about Kenji and the environment in Japan at the time.
"Giovanni" is the main character of *"Night on the Galactic Railroad"* (銀河鉄道の夜, Ginga Tetsudō no Yoru), sometimes translated as "Milky Way Railroad" or "Night Train to the Stars," or other ways. Giovanni is a lonely boy with a sick mother and a busy father and one friend, Campanella. The novel touches heavily on the theme of self-sacrifice for the good of others.
The middle section of the novel was incomplete and Kenji was still working on it when he died, and it was published as an incomplete novel. It was adapted as a manga in 1983 and anime in 1985, plus stage shows and an ebook. The very popular anime from 1985 might be the basis for Miku's lyrics, and there is a separate Wikipedia page for it.

Kanami said she spends an hour on fundamentals every day before moving on to other stuff. In the west I think it's mostly just technical metal players who would do that. There are people who put out great music without focusing so much on technique, but with Band- Maid we get some of the best of both worlds (or more, when you consider lyrics and the positive energy factor) 😊😊😊

A7X got some serious fans. Liked their early stuff but feel they have fallen off the last few albums. Their latest album is weird, have mixed feelings. Trivium is where it's at, they are the metalcore GOATs. Even though they also mix in black and death metal elements too. They have been putting out consistent bangers, hell entire albums.
Let's also not forget about the best hard rock band going right now. Band Maid! Definitely in a tier of their own with their uniqueness and genre blending. Keep enjoying the journey.🤘🏻
