That is awesome! I'm just glad that it was Dice that he chose to check out and not Thrill. Not that Thrill is a bad song, but they were a much more established band with a more established sound when they wrote Dice. Many in his comment section are thanking him for introducing them to a cool new band they had never heard of or had previously written off. 😁

I agree, it's like blaming a band for the venue or the sound guy. But I can also see where Beato can't get past the mastering because his focus has been production for quite a while. Like a guitarist hearing a good song but with a bad guitarist playing on it.

I so appreciate hearing musicians riffing and jamming their conversations. We can carry on many tangents and threads at the same time. It drives non-music-type people kinda crazy. When my bands use to jam to create new riffs, etc. for songs we always had the philosophy of, "may the best riff (or idea) win." When you take the ego out of collaborative creation, just like in a group conversation, you can really discover new concepts and ideas. Thx, Gaijin guys & Justin!

Related to another section of your Sunday show, re: ear monitors. On the Band-Maid fan club members site there is a video, [2021-11-05 One on one talks vol.3 Akane and Saiki] where they discuss their use and problems with ear monitors. They both have a similar perspective since they both play instruments that project sound into the air which is then captured by a microphone before it returns to them in their earpiece.

It was a good enough "first song" to catch his respect. It would be interesting to see him watching Manners/Black Hole. PS: Is this a meta-reaction? A reaction to a reaction? Hawkins' comment that Band-Maid seems to blend Nineties Metal with prog elements is pretty spot on. A lot of their songs will follow a traditional riff and trick your mind into completing it with a hackneyed ending that you've heard a million times, BUT THEY DON'T DO THAT! Instead, Kanami will tear that riff in half and go somewhere else new and surprising. If you listen to Band-Maid for a few bars and then click them off because you think they'll be boring, you need to listen a bit longer: their songs have enough change-ups to keep it fresh and interesting, but not so many as to make their songs an incoherent mess. I am impressed with their song writing, their arrangements, their musicianship, their showmanship, and their fearlessness. OFFS, they're incredible.

Justin is the real deal and his reactions are serio-comic in just the right mix.
I'm glad you Gaijin Guys noted your disappointment in Rick Beato's dismissal of Band-Maid. The one thing I've learned from Japanese rock is that they don't necessarily structure their music the same way as Westerners would expect. If you dismiss the song after only 4 or five bars and hit pause, you're going to miss an awful lot. I've seen a few reaction channels where the reactor is negative about Band-Maid because:
    a. They didn't start soft and slow and build to a climax.
    b. They had too many time signature changes.
    c. They used too many riffs and could have written 3-4 more songs with all the riffs they WASTED!
I saw one reactor who watched Miku doing Omajinai time and was upset because the band didn't leave the stage during the break! He thought the purpose of the break was for the girls to go backstage and...?
He was totally befuddled by Miku leading the audience, displeased when Saiki and Kanami interrupted her, and thought they were "Totally Unprofessional!" He didn't get it.
