They have only played "Chemical Reaction" twice ever. The one in your video in 2021 and once this year - Medium In Summer Spotify O-EAST, Tokyo, Japan 30 August 2024 - which they also live-streamed. The ladies were way more into it and the crowd loved it. (They played it between "Choose Me" and "Bubble" which is interesting).
I love the song, it's in my 'A' tier Band-Maid tracks. It's just a solid groove.

Champ, the reason I like "Chemical Reaction" is because I believe it's Kanami's homage to 60's and 70's rock and roll. The thundering bass, rollicking drums complete with cowbell, and Kanami's use of fuzz- tone and wah wah takes you back to the music that was prevalent in that era. What five words describe the culture and music of that era? "Sex, drugs, rock and roll". Miku's subtle use of the words chemical reaction alluded to the chemistry involved with all those words. The real reason I felt this was an homage was the trembling fadeout at the very end of the song. If you listen closely to that fadeout it pays homage to the person who was considered the greatest rock and roll guitarist of all time with his innovative style. His initials: JH
These ladies didn't forget the roots of their musical heritage.

Chemical reaction is a great song. I’m looking forward to Champ dropping a better song.

I agree with Alan. After seeing Band-Maid live, I feel like a i have a connection with the band now. Same with Nemophila and Lovebites. And, I uderstand where Wave is coming from. Some bands feed off of an audience. After seeing Band-Maid and especially Lovebites, the crowd makes them better.

This song remings me of songs from my youth such as Back in the Saddle by Aerosmith or Highway to Hell by ACDC.

This is a great song by anyone other than Band Maid, we're so spoiled. I do agree this is a bit lackadaisical compared to "true" live- this kind of tempo song while heavy needs the band and the audience at full roar since it is rather plodding pace relative to most other BM non-ballad songs.
Great car ride song not so great maybe in concert given the 140 + other choices the ladies have lol

First thought I had was that I like this live version better than the studio just because the imperfections make it more interesting to my ears. It's a bit more raw.
I got a laugh from Champ calling it MY Chemical Reaction. Thinking of My Chemical Romance?

I think this was recorded on the day they were supposed to play Budakan, and they were a little depressed about it.

This would be great in front of an audience. Some of the livestream tunes (while still really cool) lack the drive and energy of a live in front of a crowd. I think they were not really comfy with it until midway through, and then they started grooving hard. One of my faves from UW. Others are Manners, Why why why and Gio-f'ing-vanni.

Yep! Probably not their best performance, the princes missed a couple of pickups notes on her solo sections. She's human- right and we love them all for it. Wabi Wabi- beauty in imperfection.

Sometimes simpler is better. Thrill is still one of my fave Band Maid songs.
I took some flack for just saying that Shambles could've been one of my fave BM songs had they done more with that opening riff
I didn't say that I didn't like the song or was dissing it. Just that I thought I would've liked it more had they done some things differently

The song is somewhat ordinary, even dull regarding Band-Maid's high musical standards. It is pleasant to hear however but nothing exciting. This concert was held online without audience on May 10th, 2021 and you could feel the ladies were not especially pumped up that day.

This video should be titled “Rick Beato was right!” I knew he was right but a lot of Band Maid fans hated him for saying it. It bothers me that, though I enjoy even the studio tracks, I know it could be so much better! The production quality should match the quality of the band… which is first-rate, as we know.

Beato may know music but he's racist and misogynist.

For me it was more about him whining about the compression the whole time and not even focusing on the talent of the band. At the end of the day he is entitled to his opinion.

Rick did complain about compression, like at times he didn't use compression during his 20+ years as producer. During his first review of Band-Maid, it was his engineer who screwed up and the he placed the blame on the song, maybe the he was just playing engineer.
