You will have heard dozens of Fleetwood Mac songs throughout your life without realizing it. They have been around for a very long time, and have released hit after hit after hit, despite a more dramatic history than Game of Thrones. There have been many documentaries on the band, mainly about this lineup. Instead of killing each other they wrote "Rumours", and hurt each other through the lyrics instead.

You mean Bon Jovi nicked it off Fleetwood Mac as BJ did not exist when this was released. I love the Rumours Album and have listened to the middle section thousands of times as a UK F1 fan since the 70s (Starting at the solo bass line). Just about the best FM track ever IMHO. You should listen to the original which is far better

I actually had to explain that the example didn’t happen in the future, nor in the present, so yes, many things are in past. And if happened before they were born, it still really happened. And there is solid evidence. And we can learn valuable lessons from the past. You’d think I was speaking in Greek. What is wrong with young folks?

Whenever I hear some of today's music, I come back and listen to Fleetwood Mac, either their songs or this concert video. It does me so much good to hear what real talent means for music production. Most bands today can't read music. Fleetwood Mac wrote perhaps the best album of all time, in spite of barely being able to speak to one another. And it has held up for 45 years. No music from today will be around in 45 years. Thanks Fleetwood Mac.

Rumors is one of the best produced albums ever. I record and mix my own music, and I constantly come back to the studio version of "The Chain" as a reference track.
And strictly from a musical standpoint, the album is so diverse and creative. It's amazing that they were able to produce such good music once you learn about everything going on in the band at the time.

Actually, Jon Bon Jovi's WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE is markedly similar to THE CHAN since CHAIN song came out in 1977, and Bon Jovi's song came out many years later. Lindsey Buckingham was born and raised in Kentucky. He grew up playing guitar, najo, and other instruments and played country music and bluegrass. The influence can still be heard in his playing. It's why he does not play with a pick.

Fleetwood Mac Rumours album is one of the greatest. While they were writing and recording these songs, the band members had no communication with each other due their own personal relationships with each other. There was also massive amounts of drugs being consumed. They all communicated with each other through the words of these songs.

I know I am late to this reaction, but if you remember, in your intro there was a bit about UK TV (BBC & Channel 4) using the instrumental section as the "theme tune" to their F1 broadcasts... Then when you got to the instrumental you stopped, went back & said, "you can feel something is building".. That's what the TV have consistently used for F1, despite even changing broadcasters! It IS Formula 1 racing to every single Brit!

This album is one of my all time favorites of all time. There is only one song on the album that I don't love. Ironically, while creating a near perfect album, the band was having difficulty managing egos and figuring out whose genitals went where. It is a testament to their professionalism that these brilliant musicians can share a stage without smashing one another with mike stands, guitars, and drum sticks. In spite of their multitude of conflicts they were able to craft incredible music both in spite of and because of their conflict and the pain it caused all of them.

I saw the "Behind the Mask" tour in Toronto....and gotta' say Billy Burnette and Rick Vito made it feel authentically Fleetwood Mac...and added some new flavour. They are both great musicians and songwriters. The album, imo, is underrated, and full of gems.
In subsequent years, I was thrilled for the reunification of the 'Fab Five'. And I've really loved Lindsey Buckingham's recent (last 20 years) solo stuff!

This song also has more irony than Alanis Morissette ever dreamed of, as the two couples in the band had broken up with various degrees of acrimony, yet they had to open many, many shows singing "keep us together." Note the looks that Stevie gives Lindsay as he's singing and you'll catch more than a hint of backstory.

One of the few bands I actually recall the names from: Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, Christine McVie and last but certainly not least Stevie Nicks. This lineup was absolutely magnificent. I however also like the original Peter Green lineup; less mainstream but an absolutely marvelous blues/rock group with hits like "Oh, Well", "Albatross", "Black Magic Woman", "Need your love so bad", and "Man of the world" to name a few.

06:21 "...tiny guitar". Talking about a Rick Turner Model 1 as a tiny guitar is kind of.....eh.....not as it seems. Short story: This is one of the most versatile and powerful instruments I know. Mahogany body, laminated maple/purpleheart neck, piezo pickup, humbucker magnetic pickup which is mounted on a turnable plate to find the sweet spot of any guitar string, a switch to split the magnetic PU to a singe ecoil, a fade-control for mixing piezo and magnetic pickup and an active parametric eq. THIS guitar looks tiny but clearly is a masterpiece of the recently deceased Rick Turner. Lindsey Buckingham wanted the clarity of a Stratocaster and the power of a Gibson and loved to handle this guitar like one of his acoustics. Rick Turner desigend and handmade the Model 1 and Lindsey uses this guitar for almost every song. Cheers. BTW: I Like your video!

Lindsey's firs instrument was banjo. He uses a lot of that technique. This guitar is custom built to accommodate his technique. During their main touring days he played various guitars but mostly a Les Paul. Stevie also has a great fingerpicking technique. She quit playing instruments on stage when they joined FM. She did do tracks in the studio. They lived in Houston for a few months and I knew Stevie and met Lindsey and we talked guitar. They disappeared when they got some studio slots in Nashville. I think that is when they did the Buckingham Nicks album. A few months later ...history happened.

This shows the greatness of Lindsey Buckingham as a guitarist and that when they went out on tour for the album Tango in the Night Lindsey refused to go and they used 2 guitarists to replace him. You may see similarities in this song with Wanted Dead or Alive but this song was released in 1977 so Bon Jovi were likely influenced by Fleetwood Mac. There is so much passion in their music and they do have a long history because the group was originally Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and it was founded by Peter Green in 1967 and the what we think of as Fleetwood Mac only came together in 1975.

I was in the car with my, at the time 14 year old son, and the song Under Pressure came on. My son said, "Someone ripped off Vanilla Ice!"
I was flabbergasted. Finally, I was like, "NO! This is freakin Freddie Mercury! I may have failed you as a father that you would think Freddie ripped off Vanilla Ice."
I experienced that same indignant horror when you kept comparing Bon Jovi to Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac is rock royalty, and Stevie Nicks is the queen. She's got a great sultry voice, she's a top notch songwriter, and she had this sexy quality that permeated everything she did. Everyone else in the band is really good, too.
Bon Jovi has a few good songs.

The Chain was written and recorded in 1976 for Rumours, a 1977 release.
If there is any similarity, it is Fleetwood Mac who should sue Bon Jovi whose song, Dead or Alive appeared on the 1986 release of Slippery When Wet, a DECADE AFTER this song.
All credit to FWM and Lindsey Buckingham's riff. They created the sound, not Bon Jovi.

Not many bands have 3 leads singers. Who sings lead depends on the song

Stevie and Lindsey had broken up prior to this concert and it was a very bitter split. There was a lot of animosity between the two on stage that you can see between them.

I'm still in awe that his guitar didn't catch fire being played like that. 🔥

My second favorite song by Fleetwood Mac, surpassed only by Dreams (which was my all time favorite until Hell is For Children by Pat Benatar).

As someone who grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac I almost feel like it was a slap in the face to be compared to bon Jovi

This may make you angry with me, but back in the day I saw this super band live in Morgantown West Virginia at WVU. It was super great!!!!! You said let me know what you like and do not like. I for one like YOU... Lindsey's guitar sounds so different. I think it is different because what kind it is. And because of how he is playing it.!!!!!

Rumo0rs was released in 1977 which was 9 years before Bon Jovi released Dead or alive. By the time dead or alive was released in 1986 basically every rock musician was very familiar with the chain.

Bon Jovi would have probably attended their concert and heard this song as a teenager before writing that riff.

Lindsey is playing a LP clone here - he played a strat in the original records. LPs are many things, but subtle is not one of them. His playing hits like a ton of bricks. Typically, I'd hate it with finger style but it fits the emotions of the song well.

You mentioned that the song sounded like Dead or Alive. That's funny since The Chain was recorded 10 years before Dead or Alive was even written.
