    Dodge vehicles are notoriously unreliable and not known for their longevity. The car in question has had 3 different incidents of overheating in less than 6 months. I really like your channel and your hustle but I do think Turo is correct and has a right to take off vehicles they deem not appropriate to continue being listed. Seems to me your time and efforts would be better spent focusing on moving forward versus fighting this decision. In terms of renting a car with 200k miles, I would gladly rent a Toyota/Honda/Acura/Lexus with those miles. I would definitely not trust a Dodge. With all do respect that’s all just my humble opinion. Hopefully the car is paid off, it would be best to sell it. Good luck!

    Tony, in the future when you get the run-around, contact your resident/business state's AG, and the AG of the state that Turo is registered in and file a formal complaint. You'd be surprised the sense of urgency this instills. Also, with the FTC banning non-competes (as if they gave anyone a leg to stand on in the first place lol), promote your private business with every rental you get through Turo. Make a business card or flyer that explains how much Turo takes from you and how much it would be appreciated if the rental was direct. Good luck!

    Toni I'm always on your side but in this case, 3 overheating issues for guest and over 200K miles, it's time to remove this vehicle from your fleet and sell it and replace it with a more reliable car. Think about it from a business standpoint, if you were Turo, it would be in their best interest. Let it go, cut it loose, sell it and move on and find your next profitable vehicle.

    3 times for the same issue is pretty high. You fixed it though. I think they should send you a warning, that if the vehicle goes down for the same issue again you won’t be able to list it than. Otherwise I don’t think they are very unreasonable.

  • @bmwt4k
    @bmwt4k 3 месяца назад +5

    The problem with high mileage vehicles is the wear and tear on everything you didn't mention. The overheating was supposed to be the universe warning you to do deeper maintenance especially on something with that high amount of miles. The water pump failure is almost notorious in most cars after 100K miles, leaking radiator same thing wear and tear over prolonged use. I also didn't hear you say you replaced the suspension (shocks, struts, control arms, sway links,etc) , changed potential engine seals that may have deteriorated, done your plugs and potentially the injectors, etc. Break pads tires and oil changes are the absolute minimum of vehicle maintenance and I just went through this issue with another All-star host, 150K miles on an Escalade but the car ran extremely poor. As soon as I hit 70 MPH you could tell the wheels weren't balanced, alignment was off, although no lights were on the car it didn't necessarily run smooth, these things all matter and an oil change and new tires won't fix that.

    • @TonyLuxuryCars
      @TonyLuxuryCars  3 месяца назад +1

      Okay I hear exactly what your saying but why would I replace any of those parts if it's working fine no issues? If it ain't broke don't fix it! I always do oil change, replaced brakes, tires, alignment, etc but why replace any parts that are currently still working with no issues? When the vehicle does break down and the part fails I replaced it right away to get it back on the road!

      @@TonyLuxuryCars it’s different when it’s a personal vehicle over fleet. I seen on another comment, you said unlimited miles is ya trademark, therefore maintenance should be your #1 priority. That includes preventive measures. When it’s a personal vehicle it’s cool to wait till it breaks to fix it. If YOUR car breaks on MY time, well now your refunding me as well as paying for my time, or depending on how you handled the situation I may take a comp vehicle instead.
      My free advice (literally the blueprint, I’ll just explain it more for a fee) : check your fleet. See when parts (not just the big ones, anything that keeps the vehicle running!!) usually fail on your vehicles and replace them if close or over.
      Paid advice : you can contact me privately.
      Experience : FBO F30 that gets abused daily and goes on 2 hour long rides monthly. Only thing ever took me out was the drive belt. A basic maintenance item that was ready to be replaced.

    Ok as a power host myself with allot of gripes about how turo is constantly removing tools to protect hosts or ensure that we’re our own bosses, you can’t even tell a guest they can’t go out of state which is honestly infuriating because they want us to act like a rental company without the responsibility of maintaining or care to understand the risk on us the host and even them by not allowing hosts to manage their risks such as not allowing out of state renters, and recently removing the request to book it’s becoming extremely difficult to manage our risks. They only care about getting as much renters as possible and that will reduce the type of quality hosts eventually because it gets expensive and this is not what turo was to be.
    they should of at least asked for proof that the vehicle is fixed first or show their policy that shows if a vehicle is over 200k miles with various incidents as they said for permenant de-listing. The issue though is that renters sometimes trash your vehicle so they should at least see the history of why it overheated and give the advice of selling the car etc. Otherwise it’s up to the guest to accept to refuse if they so choose not turo itself.
    Otherwise don’t stress it and sell the car and keep it moving.

    Another thing they don’t take into consideration is the fact that people driver the ever living fok out of our cars and that extra stress makes things break pre maturely. If you submit proof that everything is fixed and current guests haven’t had problems, it’s totally out of line to permanently delist a car that we have spent lots of time and money maintaining. I only had one delisted a few months ago and I wasn’t affected by the recent round of delisting. I have around 1500 trips and it seems to be going downhill. Turo is certainly on a mission and I expect things to be evolving as we move forward. I have already been dealing with a search issue and I’d like to know if anyone else is affected. My revenue numbers are lower than average for this time of year and I can feel the reduced exposure. When I search using current location or an address near my cars or the address where my cars are packed for same day less than 24 hours, they are not in the results even with filters. Once I change the pickup time to more than 24 hours out, they all show up at the top of the list. I have been begging Turo to fix this for 2 months and nothings has been done. I’m being blown off. Anyone else?

    I can see their point of view, Three occurrences in a short window. You need to argue to them the second and third occurrence should be condensed into one why? It was the same issue heating and the mechanic/shop did not properly diagnose/repair the issue. This happens with cars often. You replace part A and then you realize you also needed to fix part B the radiator. That should be your argument and stick to it. It was the same related issue cooling. It shouldn’t count on two dings on the car. I applaud them for trying to keep fleets safe for customers but just ask them to bundle occurrence 2-3 together.

I’ll rent it out for $50 unlimited miles and watch that vehicle make you great money with no payments to worry about. I know $100 is your trademark but the vehicles you have are too expensive and sometimes the best customers are the ones that just need a A to B vehicle and can’t get one from the airport due to time

But I take a video of all the lights and mechanical parts, I.e. anything with a button to show that it is working prior to any trip start and save it for at least a week. I can see why they unlisted it though u as a host shouldn’t have had low coolant & for u to have actually had it towed 3x & the 2nd 2x were for the same issue. Just buy a new car & use it as a tax write off. You should be buying a new car or 2 every year to decrease your tax burden especially if you have a fleet of 19.. you can’t be inconveniencing your customers with having them towed just use it as a learning experience I know it’s gotta be frustrating being blindsided out of nowhere but them as a company they gotta look out for there customers too because what if they decide to go to enterprise in the future cuz they had a bad experience thinking they won’t have a car over 60k miles with them gotta think of all parties involved.

    • @CoachTheGhost
      @CoachTheGhost 3 месяца назад +1

      This would be a good time to think of implementing an exit strategy system on your vehicles because instead of having the vehicle towed 3x & fixed those 3x it would have been a been better to just sell the car before the issues that’s exactly why rental companies sell cars around 60k so that they can still get the most for them

    I honestly do not know why anybody would pay almost $200/day (after fees and such) to rent one of your vehicles, there is nothing special about any of them and you see that they are all high mileage vehicles. You can go to enterprise and get something almost brand new (or even brand new) for less than $100/day (much less if you are ok with a small sedan).
    For $200/day every vehicle should be in absolute mint condition with under 10k miles on it.
    Maybe I'm different than the 'regular' person though. I've had 10 trips using turo now, 9 of them were fun vehicles and 1 was a durango rt. I only use turo for fun, the durango was my only 'need' and it wasn't really a need, it was just so I didn't have to sit around at the dealership while my car was being worked on lol.
