      That's what always say, every decades has fantastic songs BUT 80s was on another level, the varieties, many super stars of 60s, 70s became legends e g rolling stone, Aretha Franklin, some stars became super stars such as Tina Turner, Elton John, and many stars were born such as Whitney Houston, George Micheal no matter your taste there was something for you; life was even much more simpler. Best decade of music!

    • @janstan8407
      @janstan8407 4 года назад

      @@elizabethtimothy4776 I've watched A LOT of these reaction videos, and I CONSTANTLY see young and middle age people(who weren't into that kind of music), drop their jaws to the floor, or literally cry(for real) with emotion because they did not know this level of quality of music existed. Today's music serves ONE purpose. To make money, and to promote sex celebrity culture instead of musical quality. Sad, sad, sad. Now, it's more important how "HOT" they are, or how "HOT" their video is.

    I suspect the unsuspecting might look back at Spandau's earlier singles with slight alarm, given that they were almost a synth-pop group at the outset. Labelled under 'New Romantics', they're saved by songwriting and the undeniable strength of Tony Hadley's vocals. This was a UK chart-topper when I was 10 - and I don't know whether to celebrate change or denounce it.

      wrong. Spandau prison is where they hung prisoners, when the warden would walk by he would use is crop and drag it across the feet of the hung prisoners making the bodies sway back and forth, creating the "Spandau ballet".

    "Listening to Marvin all night long". During the New Romantic period (Spandau Ballet came through as a part of the New Romantic movement) young Brits beyond the north were discovering soul music in a big way. And of course Marvin Gaye, one of the great American soul artists had to come to London ten years earlier to be fully appreciated by the industry. The Spandau's were clearly heavily influenced by Marvin 's work. Listen to this again and then listen to Marvin Gaye's seminal masterpiece 'I Want You' (which was recorded in London). The 'nod' to Marvin in the lyric is so well deserved!

It was played in 16 Candles Starring Molly Ringwald who was the first Teen Movie Queen of The Video Age. It was later sampled by PM Dawn for Set Adrift On Memory Bliss. Tony Hadley The Lead Singer also was in the Video as a Cameo Appearance. It's been one of the most covered and sampled songs in the past 35 years or so. Two of The Brothers Martin & Gary Kemp were also in the group. Martin Reinvented himself as a Soap Actor on Eastenders as the Evil Businessman Steve Owen and did a Miniseries Family about a Mobster style called Family Family. since the early 2000's a lot of UK Boy Band/Girl Group Icons reinvented themselves on Soaps and have done very well. Girlthing (who flopped) Neon Jungle (who flopped), Hear'Say, Blue, Boyzone and S Club 7. They have appeared on Shows like Coronation Street, EastEnders, and Hollyoaks. HIs Wife is Shirley Holliman (The Blond) from Wham who George Michael introduced them to and their son Ronan was recently on "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" with Caitlyn Jenner Also if you listen very carefully you'll hear them sing "Listening To Marvin All Night Long" they were of course paying homage to Marvin Gaye and during that time alto of singers mentioned Marvin in their own way. Diana Ross's Missing You which was a dedication Song, The Commodores Sans Lionel Richie with Night Shift, Bobby Brown Rock Wit' Cha, and Elton John's Club At The End Of The Street.
