Born in the 90s I only came to know this song through my father and the love he had for the Eagles. All these years later, my father is gone but this song means so much more to me.
I hear u man, my brother got me into Eagles and Randy became my fav , I introduced them to my son and he loved them too . Song reminds me now of them both, my son passed age 16 and my brother just 47yo . Cancer can be horrific . But I smile sometimes too when I hear it, we gotta try smile and live until our time comes, I just don't mind when it comes anymore, I'll go.

Bob Seger said that Glenn Frey was the leader but I agree that Randy Meisner was it's gentle heart. They were such a great team... I wonder if Randy will ever come back. Vince Gill is no replacement for him nor is TBS. Praying for health and strength for him , in Jesus name, amen!

Treating Randy and the others in the manner they did means that Henley and Frey will be remembered as brilliant musicians and songwriters but not as very good people. Not a great legacy when they could have had it all.
Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, Don Henley "Did you know, that if "YOU" write a song, and somebody else suggests a chord or a couple of words, they also become that song "Co-Writers" no wonder Randy M was pissed off.
If you listen to Randy being interviewed about this song. He wasn’t going to record it for this album however he loved the gospel style piano. That’s why he recorded it.
randy's resistance to hitting the high notes as he done here is the same reason he was pushed out of the eagles ,his performance here would not have cut it with the eagles
