      @@alexc5369 Coincidentally, the potion was brought up because Voldemort knew it and told Wormtail. Noone else really came with the idea or probably even knew about the potion. So since that's the only thing that the death eaters know of right now, destroying the bones destroys the main/now easiest and most spread method of returning. So if that's gone, it's back to the way it was before the 4th part where he comes back. As in noone really knows what to do and Voldy would have to save the day as always.

    Hello, can you please do a video about what makes a Witch or Wizard more "powerful" than others? Dumbledore (even without the Elder wand) is undeniably "powerful" but whats to stop, say 5th year Neville from being just as powerful? Sure your knowledge of spells and arsenal of charms would distinguish Hermione from Ron for example, but a spell is just a spell regardless of the caster is it not?

    • @darthbane3937

      This was Rowling's fault. Quirrell did wandless magic when he tied Harry up in book 1. I assume Voldemort used power. Wandless magic is only shown a couple more times. You never saw a full power Voldemort do it. That's why I like fanfics better than the books. I love the world and the foundation and the characters but imagine how good the series would've been if Rowling had written at least the later ones with a military minded author who was awesome at writing battle scenes and powerful magic. At the time, I was impressed with the duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore. Now it is boring because in effect, it wasn't powerful. There was no wandless magic or anything. Dumbledore took down a bunch of Death Eaters but considering they weren't putting up shields to avoid stunners from teens, that is not that impressive. Bellatrix did the most when she took down four Snatchers. We never get a scene like that with Voldemort. The movies are the only things that are somewhat satisfying for the final battle. The story makes sense for how Harry won but Voldemort is a dark lord. Come on!

      I know it's a terrible comparison, and I hated when the prequel Star Wars trilogy introduced the concept, but I imagine it is similar to the midi-chlorians in Star Wars. Due to certain factors, I imagine certain wizards just have more magic in their DNA. Voldemort and Dumbledore were clearly the Vader and Luke of the Harry Potter universe. They are two wizards who have an innate and biological connection to the essence of magic

  • @HunterBelkiran
    @HunterBelkiran 4 года назад +42

    It would be pointless, as you said. Voldemort would come back, and his followers would know now that death cannot stop him, so it'd probably be even easier to do so. Plus, his new body might not have Harry's blood protection binding him to Harry, so it migth've gone differently when Voldemort inevitably kills him.

  • @GanonGhidorah
    @GanonGhidorah 4 года назад +9

    Here's the _real_ reason...Snape _couldn't_ kill Voldemort (and I'm not talking about because of the Horcruxes; I'm saying that Snape literally _couldn't_ destroy Voldemort's body.)
    Why did Harry survive when Voldemort blasted him with a Killing Curse in the Dark Forest, but the soul fragment inside him _was_ destroyed? When Voldemort used the Dark Potion to restore his body, he purposefully chose Harry's blood as opposed to anyone else, to Bypass the Love Protection Spell - effectively, Harry's blood gave him a kind of "whitelist" to get him past Lilly's "firewall".
    The protection was supposed to disappear when Harry turned 17 and no longer lived with Petunia Dursley at Privett Drive. However, because Voldy took Harry's blood, he -in a sense- became Harry's blood-relative, thus keeping the Blood Protection Alive. Meaning that no one would be able to kill Harry so long as Voldemort was still alive - he himself had sealed his own downfall in choosing Harry's blood, as now, he'd never be able to kill him.
    _So_ by logic, that should mean that the protection now works _both ways._ The unintended consequence being that now that Voldy has Harry's (Lilly's) Blood going through him, he technically now falls under Lilly's Blood Protection Enchantment. It's why the Prophesy stipulates that either of them (Harry and Voldemort) must kill the other; because Voldy got Whitelisted, Harry in-turn was Whitelisted past _his protection_ as well.
    Therefore, if anyone else but Harry tried to kill Voldemort, the curse would rebound back on them.
    QED - Snape _couldn't_ Kill Voldemort.

    hmm, interesting point, i had always assumed this to be more on knowing where voldermort is. As in, while he is in a mortal/corporeal form, yes he has his power but he is still a single person, who can only be at a single place in time (obviously magic etc etc), but as long as you know where he is, you also know where he isn't. If you kill him, A) you don't know where, when or how he might come back and B) Voldermort is confident, he relishes in being with his death eaters and showing his power as he was in the front attacking Hogwarts (yes also because Dumblydor was dead), but if he was betrayed or even killed by an ally, he may not be so willing to be in the open, so even if you destroyed all of his soul fragments, you still need to kill 'him' and its hard to do that if you can't find him.

      I think the reason why Dumbledore wanted Voldemort to do it himself is not that nobody else could destroy the Horcrux, but that this was Harry's one chance to survive the destruction of the Horcrux. The Horcrux inside him felt the presence of the rest of Voldemort's soul and reacted to it when threatened. Dumbledore anticipated that there was a chance that if Harry faced Voldemort willing to let him kill him and not resisting, the Horcrux would rise to defend itself and thereby unintentionally take the blow for him. In book 6, when Dumbledore and Harry discuss the suspicion that Nagini is a Horcrux, Dumbledore states that normally it would be foolish to make a living thing a Horcrux, because it lives and moves around and is in so much more danger than a heavily defended object Horcrux and that Voldemort only dared to do that because he knew he had plenty of backups.

    Snape is simply to smart to act out of desperation... But with that said, i do believe he would not hesitate for a second to kill Voldemort if he absolutely had to. Like, if he had to do so to keep the plan in motion. Buying Hary and extra week or so is of no real help. But buying Harry time when it's about to run out i could totally see. Trough it all Snape remains calm and collected. I think he has a pretty good grasp of the situation trough out. It is true, Snape was the bravest one of them all. And not only that, he was probably the strongest one of them all. Not only did he dare lie straight to Voldemort's face for years. Not only did he make himself one of the most hated Wizards in the world for the cause.... But he also served the man that killed the only person Snape ever loved. I'm sure deep within Snape there was more the enough hate dor Voldemort to kill him without a moments hesitation. But Snape was allways collected and calm. He served his role flawlessly. Probably the most loyal ''soldier'' Dumbledore had. The bravest and probably one of the most important weapons in the war against Voldemort. In the end, Harry was simply walking a path layd out for him. He was a pawn in a much larger game of chess... Snape was also a pawn. But he was also a player. Because he moved things along. So when Dumbledore died Snape took over the game in his place. It's pretty Amazing when you think of it. Snape is the glue that held everything together to the very end. Had it not been for snape i'm sure they would have lost. Like seriously, the more you think about it... Snape is the best character in Harry Potter. And not only that, one of the best characters in fiction. Seriously gonna have to watch trough the movies again soon. I used to watch each movie for Harry and i viewed it as Harry's journey. But ever since the story ended i've sort of changed my view of it. It's not so much Harry's journey anymore. It's watching Snape's journey in the backround. The clues where allways there since the very first film. Like he was literally sitting right next to Voldemort and trying to save Harry in the first film. In the third film as much as it seems like he hates Harry, he literaly pushed Harry, Ron And Hermione behind himself while he stood face to face with Lupin as a Werewolf. Like, he literally threw himself right infront of a Blood thirsty monster to save Harry and his friends. He wasn't playing a part there. He was simply saving Harry's life. Snape was a hard character to read trough and trough. But when you go back you can tell that he was allways a man willing to die for a greater cause... In the name of someone he loved. Even if it meant also saving the son of a person he trouly couldn't stand for good reasons. I love Snape as a character. ''Allways'' will forever be one of my favorite lines... It could so easily have been cheesy and bad. But they made it work. Both in the books and in the films. Damn shame Alan Rickman never got a award for that role. The man owned that role. He is a pure Legend.

    He could've bought more than a decade were Snape able to destroy Voldemort's body, or poisoned/paralyzed it so that it could no longer be used effectively.
    Remember that when the killing curse rebounded off Lily shielding Harry, it both split Voldemort's soul (how Harry became a Horcrux) AND destroyed Voldemort's corporeal form. It was only until Harry's first year at Hogwarts was it revealed that Voldemort wasn't killed, and instead what remained of his soul latched onto Professor Quirrell. It was then a further 4 years before Wormtail managed to create a body alchemically.
    Were Voldemort's body destroyed or made no longer viable by any means, the Wizarding World would potentially return to normal for a time. Many of the Death Eaters would abandon the cause again, become disorganized and reintegrate back into society. Others would be captured and imprisoned in Azkaban once more. Buying Harry and the gang more than enough time to hunt down the remaining Horcruxes (preventing Voldemort returning entirely) and at the very least prepare.
    The only issue is that with Harry then being the last remaining Horcrux himself, then preventing Voldemort's return is nigh impossible. But since Voldemort lacked any knowledge of this Horcrux he inadvertently created... As soon as he did return and kill Harry, he would also be killing himself. At that point, Voldemort has already lost. He would never achieve immortality and whether he killed Harry or Harry died of old age. He was defeated.
    This is why that whole plot felt so forced. With Harry alone, they possessed the ultimate weapon against Voldemort. A capable sniffer dog for Horcruxes, and once those Horcruxes were destroyed. They won.

Snape's choice not to kill Voldemort early on can't be based on a piece of knowledge he doesn't recieve until years later.
    I had thought this video would adress the question why Snape didn't try to kill Voldemort while he was in his real body. Snape didn't know about the horcruxes, so he couldn't know that it wouldn't work.

  • @DamonNomad82

    An "alternate history" Harry Potter scenario I've come up with:
    On Halloween in 1981, Snape, wanting to make extra sure that Lily survives Voldemort's visit, secretly follows him to Godric's Hollow. Voldemort bursts into the Potters' house and quickly murders James Potter, as in canon. Lily desperately pleads for Harry's life and puts herself in Voldemort's way. Just before he kills her, as he did canonically, Snape hits him from behind with the Killing Curse, depriving him of a physical form and forcing him to flee. Snape then comforts Lily as best he can and summons help. Snape becomes a hero, admired by good witches and wizards and feared by dark ones. With a suddenly much better life, he loses some of the bitterness that was his trademark in canon. He is still very proud and quite prickly, but is not to the degree he was before. A couple of years afterward, Lily and Snape are married, and Harry becomes his stepson. I think it would be fascinating to see how Harry's life turned out from there. I would expect that his childhood would be much better than being raised by the Dursleys. True, Snape would dislike Harry, as Harry was very similar to James in both appearance and personality, and if Snape and Lily had children of their own, Snape would show shameless favoritism toward them, but Lily would still be around, and she wouldn't let Snape be TOO awful to Harry (or vice versa).

    "If Snape had killed Voldemort prematurely, it would have only delayed the inevitable." - yes, but it would gave Harry some extra time to practice, to get everything properly explained by Dumbledore, and to destroy horcruxes in less stress, so it would be win-win. On the other hand, knowing Dumbledore and his attitude, Harry would probably not know everything anyway, and the longer he would had stay alive in good condition (and avoided all the mess in the wizarding world caused by Voldemort's ressurection), the less he would have been Dumbledore's useful tool, the less pressure he would've been feeling, and had become more and more independent. And Dumbledre would had probably put on this cursed ring and die anyway.

    The real question is why didn't Dumbledore go full scorched earth on Voldemort in the very beginning of the first war? After all not only was he the master of the elder wand, but he also defeated Grindelwald who was the wands master at the time. Not to mention the fact old voldy was scared of Dumbledore.

    • @sageseeker9197
      @sageseeker9197 Год назад

      Two reasons:
      1. Dumbledore was old and Voldemort was young, by comparison. Voldemort was able to keep up with Dumbledore, who had the elder wand. Albiet this Dumbledore was also weakened by the curse. I imagine they did cross paths a few times, as that's probably the only way somebody could 'defy' Voldemort and survive, if Dumbledore was by their side.
      The only way to justify it beyond Dumbledore just being lazy or idle, is that Voldemort is stronger. Which actually can check, because in the series, it was never stated that Dumbledore was the most powerful.
      It was stated that he was "the greatest wizard in the world" by Harry and others, but greatest does not mean the one with the most raw power, and I suppose you'd have to exam what they mean by "wizard" and all that, but it leaves room to be implied Voldemort does indeed have more power and can outlast Dumbledore in a duel, if he cannot outclass him altogether.
      2. JK Rowling didn't write Dumbledore to be the chosen one so therefore only the protagonist can defeat the antagonist.

    I haven't watched the video yet but based on the title I'm going to say because of the prophecy. "Neither can live while the other survives"
    It wouldn't really buy any time because the second wizarding war already begun, therefore the Voldemort had returned, all the horcruxes weren't destroyed and Voldemort wouldn't actually die in the hands of Snape. Also, when Voldemort returned I'd see it foolish that he would have discarded the potion that resurrected him so if anything, I dare say if Snape in theory HAD have "killed" Voldemort to buy time, he would only return once again almost instantly and Snape would have known he was to be killed (Snape clearly unaware he was going to be murdered any way)

    I like these other theories and honestly i would like to see the different paths it could go. I would like to see the creation of horcruxes (but only by Voldemorts hand), how he did find the boundaries of dark magic etc... I like the HP series a bit darker. We were kids at the time, but we all have grown and i would like to watch a more adult movie about these topics. Voldemort meeting Nagini is also something i want to see. Something i was wishful for with the Fantastic Beasts franchise but with the removal of JD, i refuse to watch them in the cinema!

    Dumbledore told Harry (I think in Half-Blood Prince) that he assumed Voldemort had done something like Horcruxes or similar to achieve immortality after Harry first told him about how he encountered Riddle and the diary in Chamber of Secrets. So I assume that Dumbledore must have warned Snape not to do anything reckless (like trying to kill Voldemort) even if Voldemort was at a weaker state at the time. Also, besides that, Dumbledore and Snape knew about the prophecy and Dumbledore knew that Harry had to be the one to end Voldemort, so, again, he must have told Snape not to do anything. It also would have blown his cover as a double-agent, and I believe that Dumbledore had it all planned out (his own death, how and when Harry would fight Voldemort etc.) so Snape blowing his cover would be disastrous to his plan.

    If they didn't, why didn't Slughorn publicly speak about it and push Dumbledore and the Order to find and destroy them in the 80's before he could return?

    What you mean? Severus took anti venom [Honey badger] and then never died.
    Then on the final battle between Voldemort and Harry, Snape sneaked behind Voldy and shot him in the head and killed him.
    Then Snape took Harry's invisible cloak and time travel watch and went back to time when Dumbledore was recruiting Tom Riddle and Avaca Dabrad Tom and killed him. Thus preventing Voldemort from happening and everyone lived.

    What gets me is that Snape would have been the perfect assassin. Use a trick to get a free but known death eater (like Lucius) alone somewhere, unknown to the others, give them veritaserum to get the truth about their allegiance, and kill the ones who were loyal to Voldemort and erase the memories of the interrogation of those who really were under the imperius curse. Then hide the body. Use this method slowly over the intervening years until the number of free death eaters are too small to matter, and when Wormtail brings Voldy back, play it cool by saying he was spared because he pretended to be a double agent to Dumbledore and thus protected by Dumbledore and then use the same method to slowly whittle down the numbers of death eaters freed from Azkaban by Voldy, making the scenes look like battles and ambushes by Order members (obviously faking some Order members deaths to lend credence to the cover story) and maybe even fake his own death near the end. As long as Snape didn't kill Voldy himself, and allowed Harry to sacrifice himself, Voldy would still lose because the horcrux in Harry would be gone, Voldys body would be destroyed, he wouldn't have followers left to bring him back, and making the hunt for the rest of the horcruxes almost easy.

    The question isn’t “why didn’t Snape do that?”. The question is “WHY THE F*** WOULD SNAPE DO THAT?!” There is NO clear advantage to be gained and no good reason to do so. It would out him as a spy, Voldemort’s allies now KNOW that he can come back from the dead and would be much more likely to look for him and revive him, and even if the horcruxes were destroyed while Voldemort was a wraith(or whatever the f he was after getting hit with a killing curse the first time), it might not finish off the wraith. There’s just too many unknowns to risk it.

      @@hellodumplings8564 there is no guarantee that finishing off all the horcruxes while Voldemort was in his barely alive wraith form would destroy said wraith. Additionally, with his forces KNOWING of his ability to return from death, they'd be more likely to seek him out and resurrect him, and he'd be able to make new horcruxes if he wished. There was no advantage to killing Voldemort there.

    Does returning to life destroy the horcrux? The soul would have to leave the object into the new body right? In the chamber of secrets the horcrux made him a new body, but before he fully materialized and gained a full body for the soul to move into, the horcrux was destroyed.
    Voldemort never died when the curse rebounded he was just stripped of a mortal form until quirrel found him and he attached himself to his head, he never actually died until the end of book 1.
    So if im right and he was targeted by the killing curse I believe it would've resulted in a dead horcrux. Granted it would still delay the ultimate encounter 1-2 years (based on how long the diary took to activate.) Though if he was killed repeatedly then harry would just become voldemort in due time.

    Why didn't Voldy Moldy just use single grains of sand as horcruxes, and tossed each one in a different part of the ocean? Unless someone had come up with a kind of "Soul Detector", those grains of sand would be nigh impossible to find, let alone, destroy. He didn't have to go the way of showing off by using a bunch of well known objects out of pure pettiness. That was Light's issue too in Death Note. He wanted to be all big and grand about killing people, instead of just offing them by ONLY accidents and illness, that way, there wouldn't have been any suspicion on him in the first place, because then, the deaths would have been chalked up as mere coincidences. It's official: Narcissism gets the bad guys killed. Not so much strategy or followers. Lesson: Even as a bad guy, a bit of humility might just bring your twisted visions into fruition. 😑

If there wasn't, how would anyone know what happened? There was no one alive to tell, besides Harry. If he just disappeared, what happened to the body, since Voldi was merely a spirit, not really a physical being. If they found the body, what happened to it? How tf do they know what exactly happened? Did they tap into Harry's mind?

  • @Gamble9110

    I partially have an issue with this in regards to the horcrux’s. If snape did kill Voldemort he would be brought back with the horcrux’s... but that would also assume that the death eaters knew where they all were correct. Lucius had the diary and bellatrix had the cup and Nagini was with Voldemort... other than that I believe the rest of them were lost to most if not all death eaters. The diadem in the room of requirement would have more than likely never been found unless another parseltongue emerged later on but they would also have to have a need for the room to show itself. I believe the castle knew the horcrux was in there. It’s magic after all and if a hat can have thoughts and intelligence why can’t the castle itself? I do believe they said “it’s like hog warts WANTS us to fight back”. That being said I believe that the castle only revealed the come and go room to Harry at a later point in time because he had a need for it which was to find the diadem and destroy it. That being said I do not believe the castle would have revealed the room to the alleged parseltongue in the future if they had the intent on using the diadem to revive Voldemort. That’s just one example.
    Also... I can’t remember but the understanding of the Primus of a horcrux is that the fragmented soul is apart of the item it is possible to consider it in the realm of the living correct? If we roll with that do you believe that Avada Kedavra could have been used on any of the horcrux’s especially Nagini since Nagini was alive?

    • @Gamble9110
      @Gamble9110 4 года назад

      Can Uçtum how so? Because if they could just escape the item I don’t understand why they (being a part of Voldemort’s soul and Voldemort feeling and knowing when a horcrux was destroyed meaning the other horcrux’s would know one or more were destroyed and would be cognizant to be cautious moving forward) didn’t just leave their object and attach to a living creature like in the beginning to Quirrel or even to Voldemort’s dead body from the very beginning.

    • @Gamble9110
      @Gamble9110 4 года назад

      Can Uçtum also if the horcrux’s knew they were in danger (like each one was after the previous one was destroyed) and we know that they know when they are in danger because they react and try and protect themselves... why not just fly away? Also, they would have to have something suitable to attach to when they left.

    I am glad i'm not the only die hard Harry Potter fan whom is more than aware of the fact Snape is by far powerful, agile and skilled enough to destroy Voldermorts new body and slow him down. Without the horcruxes he may even be able to defeat Tom with his skills and he can too also fly without a wand, is immune to occlumency and has an array of spells voldermorts was taught by Snape. Voldermort is more powerful than Snape due to his ability to tap into extremely dark magic like horcruxes but in terms of magical potential Snapes actually right behind him very closely and in some instances ahead of Tom in magical abilities. however Snape is one of those wizarding world exceptions whom could give Voldermort hell and exploit a mistake and beat him there and then. Dumnbledore, Bellatrix, Kingsly, Snape, Madeye, Gellart and even Sirius were exceptionally powerful magical users and all capible of defeating the other in the right setting. But Snape is above even Bellatrix and Kingsly so he is more than a threat to Voldermort.
