I think you should do a video on the etiquette of golf and the do’s and dont’s as this is lost in todays age and a sad fact really. Tradition should be kept alive and be part of the modern game
That will be tough. Why, because the players who don’t know or care about etiquette don’t watch golf etiquette videos, and don’t care what you think. They are self absorbed and even knowing won’t change their behavior. I don’t mind the etiquette videos, just believe it is not going to reach those who need to know. I’ve always felt it is dependent on the Proshop staff reviewing rules and letting golfers know they will be removed from the course if they stray too far from basic golf etiquette. If they get removed a few times, most will learn. First time visitors to a course ought to have to read and sign that they have read and understand basic etiquette rules for that course. Hitting into others, pulling carts next to greens, bringing their own alcohol, not knowing or caring about ready golf are the most egregious behaviors we see, especially on weekends. If they want to cheat, drop balls, improve their lie, I don’t care. That’s their teams issue. One other trend that has been creeping up is the volume on music. No one minds you have tunes in your cart, but if I can hear it while on the tee, or fairway, you’re an a……..e.
We play stableford (Big Group ~15-25 players) and blind draw 2 or 3 man teams, score it +3 birdie, +2 par, +1 bogey but then take your Hdcp (i.e. 10) subtract from 36, that's your target of 26 total with 13 on each side...so then say I score 11 pts on front nine with my 10 Hdcp, my target of 13 less my points is -2, repeat on backside again say I score 14 pts which is +1 more than my target, thus we score F / B / Overall : -2, +1, with -1 overall. We then combine with your team and cumulate the total score for front / back / overall, we pay out each nine and overall.
We used to play bing, bango, bongo, for years, then we added another point for lowest score on the hole. Now a days we play skins and two man teams front nine bet back nine bet with auto press and total bet. Two points a whole. With an auto press when you go down two points. Usually we play a two or five dollar Nassau with all the presses. And the winner always picks up the bar tab, which sometimes is bigger than the winnings. We love it and the competition. Enjoy you channel……
My group played a homemade system to help balance the huge gulf in skill levels. It's similar to stableford with additional point scoring options. Bogey or worse was -1, par 0, birdie +1, eagle +3, hole in 1 +10. Green or fairway in regulation(max 1 per hole) +1. Any shot from off green goes in, +1. Bunker up and down +1. Scoring was cumulative, so a birdie by holing a bunker shot was +3. We sometimes played captains choice as a team and kept our best scores by course. It was a blast.
Texas Scramble is Ambrose in Aus. I've got Irish pairs stableford line up next week. This is where you play in pairs and then multiply your partner's and your stableford scores to get the score for the hole. So if your partner gets a 0 and you get a 3, 3x0= 0, but if you both get 3s then your score is 9!
In Australia every competition with handicap round is played as stableford. Very rearly stroke Scoring is. 2 over nett par =0 points 1 over net par =1 point Net par is 2 points 1 under nett par =3 points 2 under nett par =4 points. If play to handicap you will have 36 points. This system tends to favour high markers more tham low markers. The other variant is par 1 over net par=minus Net par =0 half 1 under net par = plus . We play 4bbb Mainly scramble or Ambrose at charity days. .
yes. we play stableford 3 out of 4 saturdays per month. the first saturday of month is stroke day . other types are played on occasion replacing stableford days.
In the molave say you hit a hole in one on a par 4. I assume you would take the double eagle points instead of the hole in one points (not like I’ll need to really worry about this one anyways)?
BBB is the most underrated game. High handicap golfers don't realize its a perfect game for them because they can EASILY score points. Especially because furthest away goes first. Its a fun game that low skill golfers should play more. Takes away from worrying about your strokes score and just play a game.
In our version of wolf (we call it wolf/pig), it’s one versus three if you pig it (three times the money). There are partners only if the person choosing selects the other player at the time of his/her partner’s shot.
Stableford? Golf is frustrating, because it is the only sport where your score can go backwards. Imagine baseball, where you could lose runs? So this Stableford method sounds good. Everyone always has 1 meltdown hole. But here they don't matter. Ever tried auction golf? It's like a twist on Bridge. Before each hole, you bid what you think you will make. If you come up short (of your bid), you just get zero! but if you make your bid you score big. Par (bid and made) gets 1, birdie gets 3, eagle gets 7, and double eagle gets 15. Now if you bid par but made bird, you only get 1 extra point (score 2 instead of 3). Similarly, if you bid birdie, but made eagle, you would get 1 extra point over the 3 (score 4 instead of 7).
Your points that you stated for stableford are WRONG AND you omitted to mention that stableford points are stipuilated in the Rules of Golf (21.1b) and it is played using handicap and hole index. Therefore for a sratch handicapper a par is 2 points (not 1) a bogey is 1 point (not 0), a birdie is 3 points, an eagle is 4 points etc. However, using a players hcp and the hole index those points are increased by 1 if the player has a shot on the hole. The on screen spelling of Foresomes is WRONG, it's Foursomes. Why do Americans keep ruining the english language by changing the spelling of words? The correct name for Greensomes IS Canadian Foursomes. Your explanation for skins was not entirely correct. If a hole is tied the skin is NOT cancelled out it jackposts to the next hole. You did not include vs par. Similarly to stableford this is played using handicaps and hole index. If a player makes a nett par or better then the score is a +. If a player makes nett bogey the score is a square, worse than nett bogey the score is a - (aka a wipe). The pluses and minuses and squares are contrad against each other for total result. e.g player has 4 squared holes, 5 minus holes and 9 plus holes his final score is +4.
Standard Stapleford is 1, bogey, 2 par and 3 birdie!

I think I remember him doing this at some point in the past

Well presented
Nice video MSG! Great content as always! Always great to mix it up with some different formats
*You make the most entertaining golf videos! Thanks Mr. SG* ⛳

when playing bingo bango bongo we add a bonus point if you get all three points on the hole... Great video shorty!!!

Tons of fun on the course love it
I like your videos cant wait for the next one
Good concept for a video and well executed.

Stableford one of most popular formats in the UK. It's a handy format if different handicaps
In Australia every competition with handicap round is played as stableford. Very rearly stroke
Scoring is.
2 over nett par =0 points
1 over net par =1 point
Net par is 2 points
1 under nett par =3 points
2 under nett par =4 points.
If play to handicap you will have 36 points.
This system tends to favour high markers more tham low markers.
The other variant is par
1 over net par=minus
Net par =0 half
1 under net par = plus
.
We play 4bbb
Mainly scramble or Ambrose at charity days.

Our stableford, 2 bogey -1, bogey 0, par 1, bird 2, eagle 4, albatross 8, hole in one, a round for everyone on 19.

Takeaway, always have a stick with you as a partner. Playing some these with your 20-handicap neighbor is a wee-bit tough. Good time, but tough.
👍

We played a modified Stableford for Handicap golfers. Bogey 1 par 2 birdie 4. Eagle, get real, no one's getting an 🦅😂😂😂
I always thought it would be fun to play stableford with the boys one day but they only ever want to do stroke play lol
*Hustled by a 15 yo* hahaha 🤣
