I literally just received my box of Bookshark Science C and Language Arts 3 (for next year, 3rd grade) an hour ago. I clicked on this video so fast. We are currently doing Bookshark History C and loving it. Thank you for this review!
I’ve been interested in this since your announcement/unboxing at the beginning of the year!!!! We are definitely going to purchase this in the summer for next school year! I’m very excited. Thank you for this super thorough review!
Thank you so much for this review! I'm definitely going for it for next year with level B! I really needed to have an idea of how a week looks like and also the experiments book. Yaaay! 🎉
Thanks for the review. I just received my bookshark science level F and can't wait to start it for the fall semester. Im using bookshark history level E this year and enjoyed the layout and book selection so much I decided to give their science a try. Science has been one of those subjects I can't seam to find the "perfect" fit. Every year I find myself trying a different one. Blossom & Root science, mystery science, Time 4 learning science, core knowledge science etc.. None where bad just not the right fit for us. I was even thinking just using khan academy bio paired with crash course bio but decided on bookshark because we love actual books and hands on activities. Like you I don't like curriculum hopping.
Love this review. We are on week 30. We did the diary entry from an armadillo and it was great. I agree our favourite book was the Usborne Animal book, this year this book has been subbed out to a DK book called First Animal Encyclopaedia. Not sure it that would have any internet links, we have loved watching the videos with the Usborne Animal book.
Thank you Thank you Thank you! I was going back and forth between Bookshark C and a couple of other things, but I think your review has tipped the scales in favor of Bookshark Science C for next year. It feels so nice to have that decision done with.
I used SCI level 0. I think I have a video on it. It wasn't for us. It's really loose, unstructured... at least level 0 was. I found it cumbersome to read through the text heavy guide, and without much meat. That being said, if your family likes less structure, more rabbit trailing, more playful discovery, it might be a great fit for you. We just prefer more lit-based, structured, and shorter lessons. So BookShark is great for us. BookShark still provides opportunities for rabbit trails and playful activities, but they are optional, rather than being the foundation of the curriculum.
Thank you for that. That was the thought I had when looking at the samples. I work full time and just don't have time to flesh things out more or chase down more stuff to beef it up. I've been drawn to Bookshark but I worry about the cost as well as it not being truly secular. Did you have any issues there? My girls are 6&8 - I've been looking at B and C. I may need to do what you did and print the scope and let them decide!
@@ambersenn9296 You might also like Blossom & Root Science. Fully secular, PDF curriculum so pretty affordable. I loved level 1, which would be great for your kids ages 🤗
Hi. Many thanks for this review. I am considering this but am a bit hesitant as it is not secular. They may be neutral and not saying some key scientific facts as they are not in line with the company’s religious view (evolution is a great example) - this is my experience with ‘neutral’ curricula… is it the case here too?
Take a good look at our '23-'24 Science Curriculum: BookShark Level C 👩🏻🔬🔬🧪🧲🧬🔭

Awesome! I hope y'all love it!
Great review as usual! This sounds almost exactly like Moving Beyond the Page Science! We love that as well :)
I've heard great things about MBTP!

Level B looks so fun! I hope you love it!

I hope you find a good fit with BookShark! We will continue with that program, and go into level C this year :)

We’re on our third year with bookshark science and my son loves it. I haven’t tried the history part yet but I’m considering for next year.
Nice!
I highly recommend the history. We are 60%of the way through History C and love it. Will definitely be continuing with Bookshark.

I hope you enjoy!
This looks great! About how long does each lesson take? We would be needing to complete each "week" in three days.
I would say 30 min to an hr
Oh I like this. I wonder now which one is better, this or science unlocked. I can’t decide
I've not tried Science Unlocked. Keep me posted, if you do try it :)
Have you tried any of the other BookShark subjects?
@@sarahhaenftling6921 I have not
Thank you!
I'm debating between SCI and Bookshark. Havd you ever used SCI?

@@ambersenn9296 I've seen absolutely zero religious content in level C. The cost is high, but I feel like it's fair for what you get.

@@ambersenn9296 I have videos on Blossom & Root too. Check my science playlist 😉

They definitely do not cover or teach evolution in any kind of thorough way. At least not in the level I've used.
