I still remember seeing this in the theater at 7 years old. I cried at this opening sequence...a LOT! It was then that I realized my passion for music was to make people feel the same way as how this made me feel.
Well, maybe you didn't know because that's not exactly true. Zimmer composed the instrumental pieces, indeed. But the songs. like this one, were composed by Elton John and Tim Rice. That doesn't mean Zimmer has no credit on this soundtrack. Just not on the songs.
Right. Hans Zimmer did the arrangements. Which is what, in my particular case, makes the thing in songs like this. The african choir, etc. The song is amazing in itself, but this arrangement (compared, for example, in the Elton's version) is a whole appart. For me, the best movie intro of all times.
This movie is one of the few which made me think that not only science and religion can have an influence in this world... the nature is "THE" THING" that can change almost everything. If there is a flood, earthquake, new disease,..then there is new life or new discovery's and stuf. everything has a reason in order to get a balance in this world. (I deeply respect the people who worked hard to make this movie possible)
One of Hans Zimmers BEST works of music. The Lion King is pretty much the BEST animated movie(AND Disney movie) of ALL time. The Remake better be good, cause The Jungle Book remake was actually better than the original.Hopefully they NAIL it with The Lion King remake in 2019.
didn't know that this song was also his work (the songs he made are one of my top favourites, same for the movies thay are played in), hats off to you sir
Pay attention: Hans Zimmer composed the soundtrack of the Lion King, BUT NOT THIS SONG! (Circle of Life was composed by Elton John, with lyrics by Tim Rice).
First thing i did on Christmas day last year after i got present was went and stuck this on, nothing better than seeing your childhood memories in HD Bluray. And as soon as i heard that "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba" My heart skipped a beat.
the actual "circle of life song is not from Hans Zimmer people! It is made by sir elton John! Hans Zimmer did create the instrumental tracks, (like "to die for") and worked with elton john for the versions (like this one) that actually appeared in the movie. But never say again that Hans made the lyrics and notes of these songs (circle of life, can you feel the love tonight and I just can't wait to be king).
Tim Rice wrote the lyrics, Lebo M sang them and may have helped Tim with the language...did you do some research? Yes, as I have said from the beginning, Zimmer did the arrangement for the movie. How does this grant him equal credit? It is like saying that Kenneth Branagh deserves equal credit for the works of Shakespeare.
Sure he can be credited and he did an amazing job he can't share the credit for the song with the writers equally, as your first comment implied. In the context of your first comment the analogy is accurate.
Freakin' awesome poster. When was this released? To my knowledge, at least in good ol' Aus, it was never released as a movie, though it was redone in Blu-Ray quite recently.
Nah, I've seen interviews and it was Lebo M behind the opening line. I didn't say Hans Zimmer wrote it, I am saying he orchestrated it. Elton John wrote the chord progressions and the lyrics but Zimmer was key in having the song fit the tone of the film through its orchestration.
@CamJar99 I'm a 1990s child. This my friend was the time where Disney produced good stuff, not such shit like Hannah Montana and what the fuck else. But I'm glad, that even 2000s understand the meaning and the beauty of this films.
No the 'nants ingonyama' part is isiZulu for 'here/there is a lion' and it was Tim Rice (with some input from Lebo M perhaps) who helped with that. Zimmer did not write any part of the song and therefore does not get credit for it! All he did was do the arrangement...period. Google it, even wikipedia has the answer.
That's a false analogy. I'm not saying that, I'm saying he did the orchestration, the arrangement like you said. Why shouldn't the arranger get credit?
Hans Zimmer is a MUSICAL GENIUS
I'm SUPER happy that he's composing the music for the live-action version!
But it's not the only person who compossed this piece... He is just the famous one...

I still remember seeing this in the theater at 7 years old. I cried at this opening sequence...a LOT! It was then that I realized my passion for music was to make people feel the same way as how this made me feel.
The Lion King is not only the first Disney film that I’ve ever seen, it was also the first film I’ve seen in general.
I never knew Hans Zimmer created this. Oh my god. He's seriously amazing, loved his works for Inception and SH.
Wow, never knew Hans zimmer composed the lion king soundtrack! No wonder it's epic! What a legend :)
Well, maybe you didn't know because that's not exactly true. Zimmer composed the instrumental pieces, indeed. But the songs. like this one, were composed by Elton John and Tim Rice.

Hans Zimmer is another level os music talent. The Oscar should be awarded with Hans Zimmer, not Hans Ziimer awarded with Oscar.

Sure he can be credited and he did an amazing job he can't share the credit for the song with the writers equally, as your first comment implied. In the context of your first comment the analogy is accurate.
Tbh it scared the living 💩 outta me when it started 😅
Freakin' awesome poster. When was this released? To my knowledge, at least in good ol' Aus, it was never released as a movie, though it was redone in Blu-Ray quite recently.
Laaaaaa Ciiiiiiiiiiiiiiigüeeeeeeeeñaaaaaaaa... 🙌🏻xd
Zimmer definatly had a huge impact on the song, you can find videos about it on youtube.
this soul isn't from hans zimmer but from the grandfather of peoples africa how adam down there.
and our mind will be attracted with this place.
The Circle of Life was composed by Elton John with lyrics by Tim Rice.
Hans Zimmer produced, didn't write this song.
Elton John and Tim Rice composed and wrote the songs.
Hans Zimmer produced/orchestrated the songs, and composed the score (aesthetic stuff)
He made that opening call though. Pretty iconic
Mel S he made this version he arranged this
1 of the best Walt Disney's movies.
Belisima

Don't forget Harry Gregson Williams and Klaus Badelt :)
@CamJar99 I'm a 1990s child. This my friend was the time where Disney produced good stuff, not such shit like Hannah Montana and what the fuck else.
But I'm glad, that even 2000s understand the meaning and the beauty of this films.
Sorry people but Hans Zimmer did not write this song! He did the arrangement and produced it yes, but Elton John and Tim Rice wrote this song.
OK ! I will definitely use this for my "Sword art online" AMV.
may i see tyours amv please..
I just get chills! I love the language and pureness of this song versus the rest! Original still rocks!
well said
7 years old again;D

2018 !!
I ♥
life in a song
Saying a human is a God sounds very stupid..
Hans Zimmer makes great music.
I'm waiting 13 sec for nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :)
Well, he was a big part of the AHHHEMMENNYAAA. Elton John did the lyrics but Hans did alot of the Orchestration so he gets equal credit.
2019!!!??!!
So we should change the name of the composers of all music and substitute in the names of the people who produced the music instead?
it's funny picturing someone doing it xD
That's a false analogy. I'm not saying that, I'm saying he did the orchestration, the arrangement like you said. Why shouldn't the arranger get credit?
Anyone attended the concert few days ago in Vienna? : ))
No, but attended the one in Graz. ) It was spectacular!
just went to the one in Los Angeles
Hans Zimmer was only a producer. 99% of this song was done by other people. Misleading title.
`You know that this Song was composed and written by Elton John right?
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarzipan-yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
