- With beautiful bright blue skies again, we’re out exploring Silves. Its been a perfect days exploring this wonderful city, that was once the former capital of the Kingdom of the Algarve, where the fragrance of lemon and orange trees fills the air. High atop the town’s hill sits the best preserved castle in the Algarve, boasting many imposing towers, and below the fortress ramparts lies a network of narrow streets and a riverfront filled with shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants.
Romance is pervasive in Silves, where natural beauty abounds. In the main square, Praça de Municipio, lofty palm trees share space with flowering gardens, and the local market offers present day flavours, while the archaeological museum offers a taste of the past.
If you don’t know us already, we're Helen, Andy and our self built glampervan Giovanna. We transformed from her from an empty panel van into our tiny home on wheels. Thank you so much! and the weather is great in september, in fact id go as far to say it a lot more comfortable than during July and August as the heat is not as intense, but its still dry and sunny.
