one of the most beautiful cities in the Algarve, and is located on both banks of the river Gilão, separated by a very old Roman bridge, the city is characterised by a network of small cobbled streets, white houses often decorated with tiles, family restaurants, ornamental churches and beautiful squares, all dominated by its castle, which offers a magnificent view of the city and the river. This small town is a perfect example of the Portuguese heritage that draws its roots from the influences of the Moors.
