    It's call "using a small open end wrench to hold the nylock nut in place while tightening!!"

      None of mine fit. If you know of a wrench that does fit please let me know. Terry Lusk recommended a similar solution but never responded.

    omfg dude. you gonna hassle Harbor Freight over some fuckin nylon lock nuts? stick a fucking screwdriver down in there. Mine, however, dont need to come loose. I wired a pair onto my motorcycle, and they're a godsend, because, like you've shown here, even if my battery is dead (dips below 9 volts) those lights are still on. Riding home in the dark on a bike (because no place sells batteries in the middle of the night due to the pandemic) is not cool, and luckily, I won't have to do it again. Toss me those lights and your savings, if you don't appreciate them.

    Picked up a pair of these today and they must have fixed the issue because I put a lot of force on the nuts and no spinning

    I think the question is if the lights you bought from Amazon are the same quality? Hardware is easier to fix than a bad LED/light assembly.
    If you did find lights which are as good as these ones on Amazon, but don't have the hardware issue, please share a link. Thanks!

    I have the same lights ! No problems here and for $20.00 a light it's a deal !!! compared to higher end light's ! A light is a light !

    I bought a pair of these lights...1 of my lights tightened up very well, the other did the same as yours.

      That is unfortunate. When I returned my lights for an exchange the employees were a bit surprised but kind. As I had my original receipt I was allowed a straight exchange.
      I will make an update video as soon as my school schedule allows.

    I had a couple of 12v cig lighter cables so I modified the pigtail with a barrel connector that they could be plugged into. Then mounted magnet from hf to the bottom bracket and with portable power station, I can mount these wherever on the truck. When camping I've got a spotlight on the front and floodlight on the back. These are nice but instructions are gibberish. Still trying to figure out what the rubber gasket is for. It's referenced on pp4 as '7' but it should have been a '9'.

    I ran into the same thing. I wondered if I was missing hardware since the nyloc nuts (2) weren't mentioned in the instructions - just the hex screws (6) and washer (3). As you say in your later video, I think that shows they did a design change and didn't update the instructions to match. It would have been nice if they better captured the nut because a lot of people are going to have loose lights because of this.
    I'm also a bit disappointed at the "flood" aspect of this light. I haven't compared it to their "spot" version yet, but even the "flood" is pretty focused.
    I did appreciate the included pigtail. When I first pulled the light out of the box and saw the plug for their wiring harness I was a bit disappointed at the thought of cutting it off to splice into my own harness - until I saw the pigtail.

      An update. I bought the pair of 3" flood lights (#64322) to put on my mini-excavator and was reasonably pleased with them - although I still wish for a bit more "flood" than "spot" out of them. So I picked up an 8" combo spot/flood lightbar (#64324) to use as a backup light on my pickup. They're very similar, but there are a couple differences that are interesting.
      On the lightbar, the brackets mount with M8 hex screws and lock washers that screw into the lightbar housing - instead of using the M6 hex screw & locking nut combination of the 3" lights. Perhaps the 3" lights were originally similar and the instructions were not updated for the final release. The manuals for the two lights are very similar: covers are same format with the different model information; same format spec page with different model information; same safety page other than model number at bottom; the installation instructions pages only differ for the first section to install brackets and model number at bottom, all the other instructions are the same as to mounting the lightbar on to the end; same maintenance page and "please read carefully" page with different model information; same format parts list page with different model information; and same back page.
      Curiously, the lightbar does not come with a hex wrench as the 3" lights do. It is not listed in the parts list either, so I assume it wasn't just missing from mine.

    If you looked at some of the testing available on the internet you'll find that spring lock washers are totally useless. If you use a nylock you wouldn't have to use one anyway. Maybe if they get enough feedback they'll make it more robust. I think with very little mechanical know how you should be able to make it as strong as you want it to be. I assume when I buy things from Harbor Freight like this that I am going to have to do a little fiddling with it. Or you could pay 10 as much and get a name brand.

  • @stevenfaul5630
    @stevenfaul5630 3 года назад +1

    The nylock bolt is way too easy. All you need to do is lay the light face down and drop the nut into place. It's form fitted to allow it to "self guide and lock" while you turn the hex screw.

    Well, since it's just a hardware issue, and I have 32 and a half coffee cans of various mechanical fasteners, I may just get me a pair to use on my boat trailer to light up the boat ramp. Would have been nice to see how far these project and the width of the beam at night so I can figure out if I want the flood or the spot light model.

    • @jacobyhaynie2683
      @jacobyhaynie2683 4 года назад

      From the reviews, the spots are way brighter and still have decent flood effect also.

    • @popeyeandy959
      @popeyeandy959 4 года назад +1

      Our local Harbor Freight was out of the Floods so I bought a couple of the Spots. They seem solid enough. Once winter ends, I'm planning on mounting one under the center of the boat trailer frame to project straight back. I looked at the light pattern on the box and if it's accurate, should be plenty of light for my application. Time will tell.

    • @jacobyhaynie2683
      @jacobyhaynie2683 4 года назад

      You'd be amazed at how much spread the spot has..
      Had some for reverse lights on my truck. Didn't worry about anyone not seeing me nor me seeing them AND no one ever tailgated me LOL

    I think these ar $29 each at HF. Similar high end versions by rigid (usa made) are $150. I expect there is a lot more corner cutting than just hardware.

    All annoying nylon nuts aside - is is safe to assume that these drop right into your factory wiring? No ballasts, or additional voltage regulators needed? These lights have regulators built in, yes? I couldn't finish the rest of the video. Thanks!

    • @bradeenm2848
      @bradeenm2848  5 лет назад +2

      They are internally regulated and wire directly to 12-24 volt power. I used the included connectors but ran custom wires because reasons.
