I put a set of lights very similar to these under my back bumper on either side of my reciever hitch and wired them as backup lights. Been there for 5 years and still work great.
Like others, I have these(or some variation of them) on my Jeep I park on the street at work, and don’t want nice pods to get stolen. These are easily replaced if stolen, and provide adequate light for the dollar. Theyve got my vote.
@@4wheeling spots would be nice but not really pickey wife does all the driving now and has trouble seeing on road at night let alone off road on a dark area (jk she does good just looking for more light to make easier)
Michael Suhoney I have some new floods you can have. I’ll even get them shipped to you. They are nilights. I just bought way more than I needed. Contact me at Stoneage79 on Instagram, and we can set something up.
I had A cheap light bar and cheap light pods ,. no issues on both had for 3 years..Some times things surprise you., same as my cheap led head lights , no issues over 3 years , and still are on my old jeep. for all lights cost was under 200$ for all of them..I will use them..
My 16 year son and I fixing up a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and we are calling it project sloth because it's taking for ever those lights would be great for this Jeep
I bought the cheapest grab bars I could find on Amazon for my jeep, they worked fine and still are good versus other brands available. They are definitely knock offs and aesthetically not that pretty but they do the job. My biggest concern with "nice" lights for my jeep is that anyone with a wrench can take them off within minutes. So I feel like I would use cheap LEDs for this reason.
Work great on my Jeep! We also mount these on the bottom of our motorcycles facing down at the street so that when we ride wheelies and our headlights are facing straight up in the air these lights allow us to see in front of us while we are on the back wheel!! Smiles per gallon!! And they seem to take the abuse!
I mount my pillar lights at 90 and 45 degrees from the vehicle. On the trail the light bar and pods give a 270 degree sweep of light. I’m a big fan of cheap lights. It hurts less when they get broken.... Thanks for the video!
Dude this video and the comments have inspired me to mod my lawnmower. Crazy but I'm excited about it. I'm going to spray line it, add light pods/ bars and maybe some rock lights idk. Gonna do it all with the cheapest stuff I can find on Amazon.🤪 👍
I run 8 of these for rock lights. Rolled through a frozen river up here in the north last weekend and definitely submersed them. Still work great. Even at -20°
I ran my chepa LED pods on a dualsport motorcycle for 2 years till the day I sold it they never failed on me or got foggy inside. Amazing. Oh and ran them on my kids quads too no problems 3 sets totall. I did strip the mounting threads on a couple but gorilla tape held them just fine lol. They all worked though.
I typically buy the cheaper lights because it hurts less when a limb smashes them. I have yet to hind a quality to dollar ratio difference in expensive lights and cheaper ones. I installed rear facing lights mounted on my light bar mount. They are $20 2inch Amazon lights and the work great. I don't need them often, so it would have been fooling to buy a set of $150 lights. Keep the content coming! Thanks
My wife has a set of these on her JK, while the light output is ok, the finish after 2.5 years is trashed, (as you stated). They worked great just to get a set of lights on the Jeep but a good set will be replacing them. She never had an issue with yellowing or fogging up either which was surprising to me.
They would look great on my daughter's Barbie Jeep and I've been really interested in picking up a set. They would really enjoy them this time of year when it gets dark or so early. We just had a serious winch out situation when they drive through the leaf pile.
Drill a hole in the top or bottom of the cheap lights put a rubber grommet on there and boom. You can even put rtv to seal the cover. I have had a nilight 20in bar on my Montero for 2 years its been submerged many many times and in all types of climates and it still works great.
Not bad. I’m stationed overseas and will be buying a JL in a few months after I get back. I plan on getting lights and wouldn’t mind these as a starter if you haven’t picked anyone to give them to. Anyway, I enjoy and have watched all your videos!
I got 4 of them for 15 bucks for a customer at work. Needed them on industrial carts for maint. They have lasted 2 years in all weather and very bright. But u can tell
Loved your review of the $10 Amazon Pods. Yes I'd like to have these Pods. I think that like you said, they'll make great back-up lights. Thanks for the review.
I bought some for my front bull bar and they were about 30$ for a set I bought them 3 years ago and they are still working after all the snow/ rain/ and abuse they have been through. No condensation or anything. They work really well, I guess I got lucky
I would like to put them under my JL and use them as rock lights. And for $10 who cares if they break or stop working. Just a fun experiment. Awesome video as usual!!!
I have a 21” bar I got for $15 on amazon. Was in a front end accident with my truck right where the bar was. It was tossed at least 100 yards. That was in 2016 and now that bar is on my current cars push bar 0 issues so far
I have both import and USA made pods, coming up on 3 years old. The USA made have a faded finish and condensation, I've used silicon on the lights twice and finally got rid of the condensation. The imports are dry and all led's still working. I've had good luck with MICTUNING from Amazon.
Thumbs up as usual! I have converted my 95 XJ to all LED (exterior) and am vary happy. All were purchased on Amazon and the whole conversion was under 150$ including the headlights. I also have spots under front bumper and floods in back wired to back-ups under rear bumper. All of these lights are Amazon "budget" LED's. Check out my build videos here on RUclips. Someone will be very happy with those lights. God Bless.
New to your channel and to jeeps. I've purchased a 2007 jk for a surprise birthday present for my daughter who is on a Christian mission trip and I think these would be AWESOME!
Thanks for the review on what I would call a normal product for an average guy. My wife wouldn't bat an eye if I spent $10 on Amazon. But might go ballistic if I went to Extreme Terrain or another site and bought those awesome Rigid lights for $140. After watching your video and then installing my own S-pod setup wiring would be a cinch. You said something about if these $10 lights go bad and rewiring and such. But with the S-pod it has made it so easy to wire about anything.
You pay the extra just for the brand name. Had baja before. Got a little moisture inside and it was a hassle to deal with their warranty claim. Start to use Amazon light after that. Had it for 4 years/70k miles, the Amazon light lens is still clear and as bright as new. The only downside is the paint.
I wouldn’t mind having a set of these. I’d probably put them as reverse lights like you said. Shipping to me wouldn’t be much either, only a state away 😁
I've be looking for a decent set of pods to mount below my back bumper on the JKU to wire up for more reverse light for those dark nights here in Northern Louisiana!! Those would be perfect for that, something cheap and simple! Also...Great videos man! You give great tips and ideas
I've been running the Nilight budget pods from Amazon for two years now and so far they're still going. They don't have to be pretty they just have to work. Especially when your on a budget.
"... These Rigid's are just a little more expensive..." Rigid's are 14x's the cost of the Cheap pods! LOL Too funny! Good stuff. Most of these products are made in China (mostly in the same plant too!), regardless of manufacturer. The difference boils down to QC checks and slight cosmetic differences between the different companies. So many of these products, with a bit of work, will perform nearly as well as the expensive stuff. Are they worth it? That's up to the buyer to decide. Also, that plug on the Rigid lights is probably a plug from when they purged the pod w/nitrogen. I could be wrong, but having a self regulating purge valve seems a bit much for a $140 light. Also- if you can get the face plate off the $10 pods, maybe run a bead of Dielectric grease along the seal (or where a seal should go). Might help w/the water intrusion... Great vid though! I'll definitely be giving these lights a try- I'm cheap. Thanks!
While they might not be the best lights... $10 is a steal. amzn.to/2sW86lu
What are some of your other cheap mods that have turned out alright??
Cheapest mod I've done that still works is the zip-ties that hold my shift linkage to my transmission 🤣
