Just discovered your channel today and this is the type of content I ALWAYS hoped to see!!! I have seen RUclipsrs make 'better' burgers and other restaurant meals but no one makes lower calorie/ healthier meals. So happy someone has finally started this! In suggestions, Chinese food always seems to be either deep fried or full of sugar so healthier versions of this would be great!
@Kazami "Temulgeh" means that the deep fried or sugar-filled Chinese food that "Shiv" is referring to is a version of Chinese food that has been adapted to American tastes. It is not the same kind of food that you would actually find in China. Authentic Chinese food would probably not have as many deep fried dishes or sweet-and-savory dishes as can be seen in Chinese American food.
I assume you're referring to Chinese American food. Real Chinese food isn't as unhealthy as Chinese food in America and incorporates a variety of vegetables, fruits, poultry, and meat. American Chinese food is made for Americans and you'll be able to find healthier meals in authentic Chinese restaurants! I hope you'll still be able to enjoy Chinese cuisine without having to sacrifice the taste or flavor!

I’ve worked at smashburger before. Honestly the prices are pretty high, and extra items to put into the burger is a dollar or more. The lowest price for a burger is about 5 dollars and the highest is 10. In my personal recommendation is you could always fine a better option but burgers are good but worth it for the prices ? Another note for toasting the buns-you can actually toast them dry under the oven broiler which cuts out the calories from the mayo when browning them on the griddle. It actually gives you a more even toast than you get on the griddle, too.
@@smellypatel5272 Still. If you want fewer calories no reason to keep it on. I never understood people who toast things with fat, I just pop my buns in the toaster not to long so they are hot and slightly firm.
Of course you can just 'toast' them like you would a slice of bread, but it really isn't the same. I think if you're going to have a burger then you ought to toast it in the pan / on the skillet. Burger buns also don't usually fare too well under a grill and can easily go dry and flaky. Personally, I think this is a step too far. People's minds are blown when you tell them they can lose weight while eating stuff like this, as long as they just cut out all the excessive snacks they eat in between meals.
Hey Ethan, just a quick suggestion to change the "I Improved" series to something more like "I added to" or even better "I adapted" because I think a change in language could come off a bit more positive rather than improvement which could make the original sound a bit inferior. Most of the changes you make are due to increased experience by making something slightly more complex while keeping the spirit of the original and I really like it but I could understand some might be standoffish from the title. No comedian wants to be introduced as the greatest ever because then they have something to prove, I think Seinfeld said that.
Can’t believe I only discovered this channel today. I’m a big fan of burgers but really looking at calories and macros these days and this version and the tips you provided made my day. I’m gonna go ahead and make this this weekend and I’m so excited !!!
I did not follow your recipe, but you inspired me to make my own burger. The smash method actually helps cover bread, and i skipped the cheese and mayo to make it a 477 cal experience. I didn't have 93/7, so i used 106 grams of my basic 88 / 12 beef, but cooked longer, and on a sloped grill to drain fat. It could be less calories, but i don't bank on those small cuts. I did use bbq sauce which is higher in sugar.
The quality of these videos and your output of them deserves so much more subs and views. Hope you go far man, you just earned another sub, and them burgers looking 👌💯
thanks youtube recommendations, loved the idea, the video and the ad break that is often just put in the middle of a sentence, hope your channel grows fast
hey man, just found your channel and your simplistic style focused on food instead of the person is the style I prefer and making low calorie versions of the common cheat meals, i think is a very cool concept. I saw that you also make your own versions of other popular recipes around the web and i beleive giving it a low calorie twist would be the way to go. Keep up the good work!
So true! The details are rarely mentioned! Cooking appliances needed?? How do I prepare this at home? How long does it take? How much do the ingredients REALLY cost?? 🤔 Thanks for this awesome and long overdue channel!
I’m combing the burger toppings here with the turkey patties from his other video. Something about pressing the burger on the hot cast iron just makes my mouth water.
I simply put the buns in a toaster while cooking the meat. It takes about the same time. And it gives flavor to the bread all around, plus it gets a bit dryer, so the meat and sauces wont float around between them as much. And its less fat from butter which fucks with you tummie more than fat from the meat.
This is such a great approach, loving your channel since discovering it yesterday. And if anyone wants to take this recipe a step further, use a whole wheat bun instead! Fresh ones from your grocery store bakery taste way better than the ones from the bread aisle!
Love it- just started watching your videos, but what really makes me enjoy yours vs many others is that you satisfy my nerdy curiosity and offer a reason for what you do as opposed to just stating substitutions. I've often used mayo instead of butter for toasting buns, but I never realized why it works just as well (better). If you read these just wanted to say I'm a big fan and now watch everything you make. Looking forward to recreating your recent poblano taco recipe

Most of the changes you make are due to increased experience by making something slightly more complex while keeping the spirit of the original and I really like it but I could understand some might be standoffish from the title.
No comedian wants to be introduced as the greatest ever because then they have something to prove, I think Seinfeld said that.
Looks good Freddie Mercury. Two thumbs up.
This is what I have been waiting for!!
I love how you didn't lie and say the lower calorie one tastes better, but instead that it's a suitable substitute!
Anyone notice the thumbnails identical to binging with banish... when I didn’t hear that sweet sultry voice I was heartbroken
Pro tip: add fish sauce in the low calorie version for U M A M I
This channel is a secret gem I swear
I just discovered your channel and I just want to say I appreciate everything you do and thank you.
thanks youtube recommendations, loved the idea, the video and the ad break that is often just put in the middle of a sentence, hope your channel grows fast
What a great transformation bro. Great content!
Underrated channel. You deserve moreeeeee!!!
This channel is criminally underrated.
hey man, just found your channel and your simplistic style focused on food instead of the person is the style I prefer and making low calorie versions of the common cheat meals, i think is a very cool concept. I saw that you also make your own versions of other popular recipes around the web and i beleive giving it a low calorie twist would be the way to go. Keep up the good work!
I am pretty good home cook myself, and typically don't watch tutorial videos but this was of high quality, subbed.
Much appreciated.
So true! The details are rarely mentioned! Cooking appliances needed?? How do I prepare this at home? How long does it take? How much do the ingredients REALLY cost?? 🤔 Thanks for this awesome and long overdue channel!
Man these uploads! Keep em coming man
Congratulations on your 30K subs, Man.
Good luck in this website, and may the algorithm be with you!
He only had 30k subs 7 months ago? Well damnnnnn 442k in 7 months
I watch foodie videos just about every day. You make the highest quality videos around. I hope you stick with this because I'll keep watching.
I’m combing the burger toppings here with the turkey patties from his other video. Something about pressing the burger on the hot cast iron just makes my mouth water.
Man your production quality is sick. Keep up the good work and content like lower calorie versions of dishes.
So glad I found this channel!! My man and I started our weight loss journey recently. We love cooking, but have had some trouble finding low cal *delicious* recipes. New subscriber here!
youtube kept recommending your videos to me, i ignored...kept recommending, so i thought i'd look. glad i came, subbed
I think I just found another favorite cooking channel! Thanks Ethan!
