You are doing such a great thing here! There are SO MANY bad companies who scam people all the time. It's good to have a place people can go to get the true skinny. The support you offer is phenomenal. Blessings to you -
I have researched all 3 transcription companies that you mentioned. Babbletype has very BAD reviews from actual people that tried it. Rev.com has an F rating with the BBB which should tell you all you need to know about them. And If you read the FINE PRINT with Transcribeme, it will scare you. When you sign up with them and provide your personal information you are authorizing them to share it with “their affiliates”. Whomever that may be? Very disappointing! 😖
I applied for Rev.com. I have always been really good at English. I also have an associates degree in Business Management and worked as a Manager/ Secretary most of my life. I thought this would be a great fit for me. I filled out the application and took the test. They did not hire me, They said only 26 percent qualify and they gave me VERY general reasons why my application was rejected. I was hoping to see my test results and actually see what I did wrong. I truly thought I might have only made a few minor errors, if any, and I can not tell from their response exactly what I did wrong. If I don't know what I did wrong I cannot try to correct it. It doesn't seem to me that they are truly interested in hiring people for these positions or they would be more willing to show you exactly what needs to be done. My guess is that they really don't get enough business for all of the applications that they receive. If anyone out there has better luck, let me know.
Hi, Lisa. I'm sorry to hear you were declined. Unfortunately, not receiving a detailed rejection report is commonplace in the work-at-home world. Most companies report they received hundreds, in some cases thousands, of applications for every one open seat they have available. The bar is often very high for even the simplest positions because of this. And it's just simply not possible to communicate with everyone on an individual basis. Keep applying. The work-at-home job search is often long and requires a lot of determination to overcome a lot of rejection. You won't get there if you give up, however.
I shared this with one of my roommates. We are both on furlough at the time and looking for side work to get us through this government shutdown. Thanks so much for the information! I have experience in transcription so that is right up my alley.

Paying every week isnt just a question of waiting. Its also, many of such firms may be shady. Or you suspect they may be shady. So you dont want to work for them a whole money, and get robbed, or perhaps get only half a pay. But a week, you can try... You cut the potential losses by 3/4...

Hi 😊, just wanted to add an FYI, I am a medical transcriptionist and it takes 8 hours on average to type 100 minutes of audio, depending on your typing speed. Hope this is helpful 😀🙋
(Understand that you may not know the answer / but please ask the company and find the answer for me? Yes) I wanted to know "What type of contract is created when a person works from home (through a company that is not located in their city and definitely not located in their state?) Like, what is the title/label/professional name for this type of work agreement? THANK YOU
What computer/laptop would you recommend is best to make working from home as easy as possible? Also what internet provider would you recommend?? I live in phoenix AZ and I am having difficulty finding affordable internet that is unlimited.
Hi, Naomi. Every company will have its own tech requirements so check with a few that you are interested in. Working Solutions, for example, requires at least 4 GB RAM (preferably 8), Windows 7 or above, and an Intel or AMD processor. You can see theirs as an example at jobs.workingsolutions.com/faq/#1471465250518-83ad908a-703d. Most don't require a specific internet provider, it simply needs to be hard-wired (no WiFi) with a minimum download speed. Working Solutions does name a few providers known to be compatible at that above link.
I would hate for somebody tell me I'm fired or the company is bankrupt or the company went overseas. I'd feel better waking up in the morning knowing that hey I'm the boss I'm the CEO and I could do whatever I want!
Just as an add on for anyone interested, Rev.com is so not worth it at the beginning... but eventually you can graduate to doing captioning, which is way more fun and better pay, as well as more work available. Don't get too discouraged. It IS legit. I'm just putting this out there to say that perseverance at Rev.com DOES pay off. No, it's not great money, but it does pay the bills. I have not personally tried Transcribeme or Babbletype, but I understand that their pay is about the same as Rev, maybe even a little worse.
@@nickb3858 Obviously it depends on the time you put into it, how long the file is, and how long it takes you to finish it. So you'll probably be lucky to make $6 or $7 an hour when you're first starting out in transcription and captioning both. That's pretty much the pay rate for almost any transcription job, though, from what I understand.
Hi Angie, Great information. Thank you very much for sharing and for speaking at an easy pace. I shall check out a few of the sites listed and will report back. All the best.
Hi Angie. Thank you so much for the video. Very interesting! Could you kindly tell me are any of the companies you talk about in the video available (to work for) to those in the UK? Thank you again.
I'm a beginner in most of the fields mentioned and english is my 2nd language but I do have experience in freelancing mainly on Odesk/Upwork so I'll give it a go and actually get serious into home based jobs and entrepreneurship because previously I wasn't, a kid playing around. Thanks for the help.
The proof is in the pudding. I would very much love to find out ratings from people who have tried these jobs out, in fact that would be a wonderful website. Do you have any information on that?
There are websites like that out there. Just Google the name of the company + review. You can also check out Glassdoor or Indeed which offer employee reviews.
Good information, Angie Nelson! At your channel's "About" page, though, I notice your phrasing was "I help women....," but there are men who can & that even need to do "work from home" jobs, too, no? Maybe the wording was, for whatever reason, intentional rather than oversight or perhaps it is merely oversight, but I would say that it would be good were you to revisit the wording & include "and men." This is a great service you provide through your channel & you are to be commended for it! 👍 Be blessed by the Almighty! Amen.
I knew you would, Angie Nelson, because you strike me as an intelligent & well-meaning person, not incapable of being advised by another &, for this, in addition to for the great information you have on your channel here & your Scriptural saying on the plaque behind you, you will have a new subscriber! ☺👍

Are there any work at home jobs customer service jobs that you would you recommend where you don't have to be an independent contractor and thus pay your own taxes. I don't have any experience yet in the field.
You absolutely have to know your states hourly wage, PLEASE know what you must earn NET per hour to support your rent, utilities, etc. And ABOVE ALL: KNOW your employment rights. Too many places will take advantage of you when you are desperate.

Hey Angie! I wanted to ask how do taxes come to play with these types of jobs once tax season comes every year? Do they take the taxes out themselves? Is there a certain amount to you have to make? Will they send you a 1099? Thanks!
Hi, Sherly. It depends on the company and how you are hired/how you are paid. If you are hired as an employee, usually taxes are taken out for you. If you are an independent contractor, they are not.
If they are paying $20 per audio hour, that's $20 for an entire 60 minutes. If the file is shorter than that, you will be paid for only the minutes not an entire hour.
As a site based in the USA, the job leads I share are specifically targeting those living in North America. I do have a few job leads for those outside of the USA, however. The companies in this post > theworkathomewife.com/worldwide-work-at-home-opportunities/ < do hire internationally. Best of luck!
Hi Angie, In your opinion, which is the BEST and most legitimate site for doing surveys? I am not seeking a high paying opportunity, but one that does pay. Mturk is very frustrating for me. I am going to be checking out the weekly paid on line sites you mentioned in your video as well. Thank you in advance for your help.

About transcription: it will take you eight hours to transcribe one hour of tape. So do the math before you jump into a gig like this. More often than not you will be seriously underpaid.
Transcription is very much production-based pay. The longer it takes you to turnaround a file, the less your hourly rate. However, experienced transcriptionists average a ratio of 3:1 or 4:1. And as you get some experience under your belt, you can apply to better-paying jobs. Aberdeen, for example, pays transcribers $1/audio minute. At 3:1, that works out to $20 per hour. They also pay $75 per audio hour for captioners.
@@AngieNelson 3 to 1 to me sounds like a very fast transcriber. But then, on the ones I have done the speech was particularly hard to make out, and I transcribed them into another language (which may have added a little to the work time, though not much).
Not every online job will be for everyone. You are welcome to check out some of my other videos or stop by theworkathomewife.com for more work-at-home ideas.
So I have a question I would love being a transceitionist. I have been a stay at home mom for 17 years. My last job was in 2008 for a Mother's Day Out My question is as a person Out of work with a long time. HOW DO I BUILD MY RESUME TO GET THE JOBS. I would definitely need something that Work from home. Could some one help me out.
The brand of computer isn't so important as that it is newer (less than 2-6 years old), has at least 2 GB RAM, in most cases, and has up-to-date anti-virus software. Those companies that are particular about equipment will provide you with a list of requirements.
I wouldn’t mind the transcription jobs. The only problem is that I’m not so great at knowing exactly where to place commas vs. semi colons, dashes etc. and where to start a new paragraph. Do they have an editor that checks and corrects your work
They usually do, but any errors can count against you. Coursera does have a grammar and punctuation course if you need to brush up angies.tips/2vLEl4B.
Thank you, I was already going after TranscribeMe which I found out from another video and even told my job club leader about it (she's concerned about me not getting scammed), and it gives me hope seeing it mentioned here, too. I haven't taken the assessment yet, still going over that guide. But it'll be nice to have that to do in the mornings when I just don't feel like going anywhere. I also shared the link you provided with a friend who tutors, although it was before you mentioned a bachelor's degree was needed and he's still working on his associates. But he's _trying_ to become a teacherr though. Wonder if that would account for anything. No degree yet, but he's been tutoring as well as going to school.
With these online start up companies is there a yearly or monthly fee to participate? And I was also wondering how you get paid? Does a direct deposit get directly deposited into a checking account or does a check get sent in the mail?
What startups are you referring to, John? The companies mentioned in this video are well-established. As for payment, most companies today pay by direct deposit or PayPal - sometimes Payoneer or Dwolla. Very few companies anymore pay by check.
Demo and mystery shopping companies typically have a longer wait for pay, unfortunately. There are plenty of legit gigs out there with weekly pay, however.
are these applicable to persons living outside the US? if not can you share any international opportunities that apply to a work at home format please? Thanks

Just getting started at the Work at Home and this was great help! I have worked as an Executive Director for 38 years, retired in 2015, and I am so dissatisfied - SO HERE I AM - ready to start my second career!! I don't see many "seasoned" folks on here so I hope there will be something for me. I have very strong clerical skills and that is what I want to focus on. I will leave the Executive level rat race for the younger group. I have thought about the Virtual Assistant but we will see. I want to get my feet wet first. In this clip, you mentioned things coming into your "in box". Are you talking about your e-mail or do I need to create another place to be contacted? Hope you don't mind the questions.

Service Dog In Training Chopper check again. See what your outside the home considers conflict of interest. My major airline had no problem with the political polling company from home.
Bargain Holic When you work at a call center you cannot work at a 2nd call center. I was told that by my main job when I had gotten a 2nd call center job (in a different industry even). They said I had to leave that 2nd job or leave this one (the 1st one and the ones talking to me). They said it didn't matter that it was in a different industry. That, it was a conflict of intrest. So, I had to quit the 2nd job.

Is this company on the internet to contact? I didn't see anything, at all.
Do you know the website for the home base job for apple techy.
Paying every week isnt just a question of waiting. Its also, many of such firms may be shady. Or you suspect they may be shady. So you dont want to work for them a whole money, and get robbed, or perhaps get only half a pay. But a week, you can try... You cut the potential losses by 3/4...
Thank you for making this video. I'm currently between jobs and desperately looking for online opportunities to earn an income. You have offered some very helpful suggestions (and companies)!! Thank you so much once again!
You are welcome. I wish you best of luck in your job search!
before you waste your time read the reviews of people who have actually worked for these companies.
Informative video, and of course the inspiring scripture!
Thank you.
Do you have any suggestions for work at home jobs for the blind?
Hi, Phil. NTI is an organization that helps those with disabilities find work from home www.nticentral.org/. If you receiving SSI, you may also want to check out My Employment Options www.myemploymentoptions.com/.
Thank you for that information. I will definately be looking into these. This information was more up my alley than many of the other videos I have seen. 😊
Best of luck, Sandra!
Usually to work customer service from home don't you need a landline phone and you need Internet with ethernet cable connected.
Angie. Well done. You have done a good job.

Hi 😊, just wanted to add an FYI, I am a medical transcriptionist and it takes 8 hours on average to type 100 minutes of audio, depending on your typing speed. Hope this is helpful 😀🙋

Two questions-#1 start up cost?#2 can I work from my cellphone or do I need a computer?
Thanks so much for sharing this!
How much as a start off with no experience would you make?
@@nickb3858 Obviously it depends on the time you put into it, how long the file is, and how long it takes you to finish it. So you'll probably be lucky to make $6 or $7 an hour when you're first starting out in transcription and captioning both. That's pretty much the pay rate for almost any transcription job, though, from what I understand.
I like, very much, your wall plaque.
Thanks, Jonathan.
Hi Angie, Great information. Thank you very much for sharing and for speaking at an easy pace. I shall check out a few of the sites listed and will report back. All the best.

What does your son do for apple?
Best of luck, Kena!
Maybe the wording was, for whatever reason, intentional rather than oversight or perhaps it is merely oversight, but I would say that it would be good were you to revisit the wording & include "and men."
This is a great service you provide through your channel & you are to be commended for it! 👍
Be blessed by the Almighty! Amen.
I appreciate your feedback. I'll keep it in mind going forward.

Very good advice, great job!
Awesome video!
You absolutely have to know your states hourly wage, PLEASE know what you must earn NET per hour to support your rent, utilities, etc. And ABOVE ALL: KNOW your employment rights. Too many places will take advantage of you when you are desperate.
We live in a wonderful time period where people can work from home. It is great that people have so many choices. Thank you. Short and to the point video. Great!

@@AngieNelson Thanks! 😊
Hi happy to see this video, i am in USA but under dependent visa no work visa can i try for work from home jobs ?
Thanks for posting this very helpful, and I must compliment on your video its very nicely done.
Thanks so much.
Hi I have question regarding pay .Transcribeme pay per audio hrs $20 consisting 2 to 4 minutes or they pay $20 per audio consisting 1 hrs recording
If they are paying $20 per audio hour, that's $20 for an entire 60 minutes. If the file is shorter than that, you will be paid for only the minutes not an entire hour.
A lot of these opportunities are for US citizens only, what about South Africa?
As a site based in the USA, the job leads I share are specifically targeting those living in North America.
I do have a few job leads for those outside of the USA, however. The companies in this post > theworkathomewife.com/worldwide-work-at-home-opportunities/ < do hire internationally. Best of luck!
Hi Angie,
In your opinion, which is the BEST and most legitimate site for doing surveys? I am not seeking a high paying opportunity, but one that does pay. Mturk is very frustrating for me. I am going to be checking out the weekly paid on line sites you mentioned in your video as well. Thank you in advance for your help.
Pinecone Research and Swagbucks are two of my favorites. There are a few more recommendations in this post theworkathomewife.com/surveys-for-money/. This post may also be of interest to you theworkathomewife.com/make-10-day-online/.
Peace & Unity my Angie, time is valuable but as dangerous as Gravity. Don't be a stranger. Salute 👆❤💯
This is just what I needed to see! Thank you so much!
You are welcome, Bonnie. Best of luck!
Thanks Angie, that was really helpful.
By the way, I'm glad I watched your video and read the comments. Now I know these jobs are not worth my time. Thanks for saving me time.
Not every online job will be for everyone. You are welcome to check out some of my other videos or stop by theworkathomewife.com for more work-at-home ideas.
@@AngieNelson Is there some job filling out surveys? I heard they pay people to do that.
Great video thank you.
So I have a question I would love being a transceitionist. I have been a stay at home mom for 17 years. My last job was in 2008 for a Mother's Day Out
My question is as a person Out of work with a long time. HOW DO I BUILD MY RESUME TO GET THE JOBS. I would definitely need something that Work from home. Could some one help me out.
Great video and info., thank you and may God bless you!
Right back at ya, LeAnna.
Hi 👋 just wanted to know what computer is best to have working from home desktop ? Really need your help 😊
The brand of computer isn't so important as that it is newer (less than 2-6 years old), has at least 2 GB RAM, in most cases, and has up-to-date anti-virus software. Those companies that are particular about equipment will provide you with a list of requirements.
Thank you Angie. Very good info.
Great video! Thanks so much for sharing this information. I'm going to try one of the transcription gigs. God bless you!😀
Best of luck!
What is something my wife can do while I'm working?
There are some great ideas and companies that hire at-home workers in this post theworkathomewife.com/stay-at-home-jobs/.
Thank you, in this current unpredictable job market, this kind of information could be a life saver.
Thanks for stopping by, Daniel!
Best of luck! And for your friend, some online tutoring companies will contract those working towards a degree. So maybe!
Great video and information. Do you have any insights about proof reading work from home jobs? Thank you.
You can find some information on proofreading from home at theworkathomewife.com/proofreading-jobs/.
In college I did a lot of demos and A lot of the companies I got paid per good hourly wage but had to wait a full month!!!
Demo and mystery shopping companies typically have a longer wait for pay, unfortunately. There are plenty of legit gigs out there with weekly pay, however.
This was a great video. Thank you!
I’m an office assistant, which online companies do you suggest I try?

Email, Debbie. Best of luck in your job search!
