#AntMan3 #CouncilOfKangs #Kangsplained
Phase 5 of the MCU has officially begun with Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania. Featuring Jonathan Majors as the MCU’s next big bad, Kang the Conqueror. But this isn’t the first time we’ve met a variant of the character, He Who Remains was also played by Majors in the season finale of Loki. And we see this trend continue in the post credits scenes of Quatnumania where Majors plays thousands of different variants of Kang.
So we’re going to break down the Kang variants that we met in these post credit scenes-who they are, where they came from, and how they connect to He Who Remains and the Sacred Timeline.
In the comics this group of Kang’s is known as The Council of Kang’s.
Doug: Hey they stole that from Rick and Morty.
Actually buddy, it’s kind of the other way around. The council of Kang’s has been a thing since the late 80’s, but more on that in a bit.
First up we’ve got the Pharaoh himself, Rama Tut. In the 30th century, a bored scientist by the name of Nathaniel Richards constructed a time machine that looked like a sphinx. He then traveled back in time to ancient Egypt where he utilized his genius and advanced technologies to perform his first conquer.
Now this story unfolded in the pages of 1961’s Fantastic 4 #19. At the time, the character of Kang didn’t exist. But, the story was later retconned to have Rama Tut be a variant of Kang the Conqueror.
In the original ‘61 comic, we see Rama Tut escape the Fantastic 4. But over a quarter century later in 1986’s Avengers 269, we learn that Rama Tut’s escape led to an encounter with Dr. Doom.
This encounter inspired Rama Tut to take on a new persona, the Scarlet Centurion, another Kang variant we think we may have met in this post credit scene.
Now we’re actually not certain that this variant is Scarlet Centurion. For one, he’s not red, he’s like a purply, blue color. And he’s a lot more mechanical. Another possibility is that this is an adult version of Iron Lad, a Kang variant who went down the path of the hero, but later succumbed to his destiny and became Kang the Conqueror.
My guess is that we’ll likely hear this variant be referred to as simply “The Centurion.”
Next we have the Pope Variant of Kang, Immortus.
Doug: (Mumbling, trailing off) Aha, because he has a tall hat and robes, that’s a funny observation, person. I love observational humor. Seinfeld’s probably my favorite, I mean what is the deal with airport food after all?
If you’re a fan of the channel you’ve likely heard us talk about how the He Who Remains variant from Loki was basically a take on the character of Immortus. You see, in the comics, He Who Remains isn’t a Kang variant at all. He’s his own independent character, separate from Kang.
He Who Remains resides at the Citadel at the End of Time and oversees the TVA, just like in the MCU. But, in the MCU, he has a very different design. Instead of a decrepit old man, he looks a lot like Immortus. In fact, concept art from Loki reveals that He Who Remains was indeed based on Immortus’ design from the comics.
Now Immortus, like He Who Remains, also resides in a place that exists outside of time-a pocket reality known as Temporal Limbo.
Another similarity is that Immortus successfully tricked the Council of Kang’s into eliminating all other Kang’s from the multiverse. This guaranteed that Immortus would become the only Kang variant in existence. Similar to how the MCU’s He Who Remains has seen to it that he is the only Kang variant in all of existence. [clip]
Now before we move on to all the Kang’s we saw in the arena and the Kang variant we met in the 2nd post credit scene. Let’s talk about this shot of the multiverse, and what used to be the Sacred Timeline
So if you’ve seen Loki, this will look very familiar. In the Loki final we were introduced to the concept of The Sacred Timeline. A series of timelines or universes threaded together like strands of a rope. These timelines run parallel to one another in a circular motion, and they happen again, and again, and again. [clip, Mobius] - Кино
About other Kang in another species: apparently someone explained in an interview that the Lizard Kang variant would be from a world where Dr Connors (from Spider-man) succeed in his plan to turn everyone into lizards.
That makes sense
Do you remember who said this
That’s a keen observation
Is that also how Loki the gator happened???
He hit that line perfectly!!! “AND I WILL BURN THEM OUT OF TIME!!”
Every line from johnathan majors is hit perfect
His casting and portrayal of kang..Kang... is on par with Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Strange
🔥
I love that line!!
George Floyd was a paid actor
His devotion in portraying his character is a quantum of his creed that is a definitive major love for his craft.
I see what you did there 😏
😂
Well done. It's Major's season fam 💪
Not sure how many people will get the "Love for his craft" reference but that was an outstanding series that ended way too early IMO...
😂 nice wordplay
Why is nobody talking about fanboy Kang who was totally excited to see the ruling 3 Kangs?
Can't forget liu kang
Because it was fucking stupid.
@@Dmitchell579 ?
@@Dmitchell579 oh my that would actually be one funny cameo
@@robi-wankenobi6416 from Mortal Kombat
I’m ready to see how Majors can pull off these different personalities
He said he is not watching any of these movies with his variants moving forward just for that sole reason. So every variant is fresh and doesn’t seem like a rehash. Based off Immortus, Scarlet Centurion, and Rama Tut alone we are definitely in for a treat
Unfortunately marvel just know fired Majors so 😂
He wuz Kangz
n shiet

This is the 2nd time I heard you refer to the one kang varriants as the "centurian" but Im pretty sure that is kang Prime hes clearly got alot of robot parts. Now I would normally defer to you in a time like this but Im pretty sure that Kang prime and not the scarlet centurion. And if you look in the middle of the ring of the coliseum there is a kang variant in all red which I also believe thats the centurion. You might want to recheck
In the council of Kangs, you forgot to show us " Your Mom". You must have been busy.
8:43 It's "KANG-a-ROO" boss!🤣 BGood
Well avengers will be a kang that will form the join the young avengers then young avengers will call all heroes from multiverse the people will cry and we will see the variants of Tony stark, captain America and web warriors
the doggo is cute
we wuz kangz
The "butt" at 2:20... executed perfectly Ryan
We Wuz Kangz!
I loved that post credit shot pulled right from the comic. Those Kangs were so hyped up it was great hahahaha
The story between her and Kang was interesting enough, they actually could've done a movie about those two IMO. Majors and Pfiefer's chemistry is so good. I believed their story.
You are actually very entertaining. I enjoy your reviews and explanations.
he was literally kangs n stuff
The research you guys do is off the charts and most welcome
You mentioned in a video that Kang the conqueror and He who remains might be the same person. Totally agree. In Loki, he mentions he's " been called a conqueror". Also, both characters are living outside of time. Third, and this might be a reach, what If Janet didn't see his past when she touched the chair? What if it was his FUTURE? Him eliminating other timelines to create the to create the Sacred Timeline. When he powers up the chair he tells Janet he's wo he needs to be.
Anyway, love your videos. Keep u the Great content
2:19 When He said "But..."
And he showed Captain America's Ass! Dude, I almost chocked on my drink. :)
I noticed that too😂
Thank you for the vid! We just watched the movie for a second time and I loved it even more. Micronauts was one of my favorite comics in the early 80s so the whole concept rings sentimental for me and works on different levels. What a great family film too with great messages.
I look so forward to your reviews and breakdowns.
Seriously man, I don’t know how you do it. Bringing such in depth analysis that helps us all understand the marvel stories better while also coming up with so many great theories. Your videos really plus my experience of going and watching the MCU and many other fan favorites. Thank you so much!!
I think Kang lost on purpose so that the Council would think he was dead. Allowing him to have the element of surprise.
He lost on accident lol, when hope surprised him and Blew him back into a unstable and deteriorating Quantum generator sucking him into god knows where
He seemed to have every intent of rushing through the portal and killing hank, Janet, hope, and whatever Scott’s daughters name is, and then going on to do other Kang Stuff in That Reality.
I do think it’s silly that he Got so badly hurt by those ants, but by all accounts, he beat the ants, beat Scott, and almost made it out the quantum realm but was just a couple seconds too late, and was caught off guard by hope. He definitely didn’t lose on purpose though, he seemed desperate to win at that part of the movie.
Also also, he knew the Kangs couldn’t kill him. If they did, he’d just respawn as another Conqueror Kang and they’d have to start from square one. That’s why they banished him instead of killing him the first time
@@jeremiahsmith9109 somehow it answers my question about why the council of kangs didnt just kill kang the conqueror
Yo screencrush im a huge fan, thank you for your very interesting theories.
After watching the movie I have a theory!!! Rama Tut has cybernetic arms, lower abdomen and legs? Aren’t those the parts that got sucked into the multiversal core first, and he has the same scars but covered with gold. So our Quantumania Kang probably went to the ancient Egypt.
But moreover, i think that three Kangs we see in the mid credit scene are all the same kang we see in ant man 3 but at different points in time (yes just like in comics). And they are not variants. They’d exiled him and done everything else knowing that it’s their destiny to destroy other Kang variants They know how it ends and still are doing everything in order to go through all these phases and become Immortus and then probably something similar to the Beyonder!
That was an amazing scene to see The Council Of Kang's. The cheer's in the theaters sounded like Post credit's 🤘🏾💜💚💜💚.
It Kang time ma brotha
The TVA and Counsel of Kangs being located within the quantum realm makes sense. To go back to What If, could the Nexus of All Realities be located there as well (where Uatu the Watcher could observe the multiverse)?
The Nexus of All Realities exists in different part of the Multiverse. Uatu is in charged of that dimensions since he's a higher level of beings which Kang has no control whatsoever.
@@mavvynne444 What’s funny is that the Marvel Database has the locale of the Nexus of All Realities in the Florida Everglades. 😂
We are EATING with these great Kang videos!
I also think Victor Timely might be the Kang variant from Antman
I think that in the post credit scene we were introduced to Iron Lad do to the tone of his voice and he looks younger.
Kang needs his own spin off
kaise white, he's like Thanos, has a few scenes in some movies, and shows, and then has the whole last Avengers movies to himself.
Spin off? Kang is getting a whole phase
I mean there’s Kang dynasty and secret wars coming 😂
Agreed! Way too much back story to capture in a few hours
@@UVClipz When exactly did that happen with Thanos?
KANG'S suit allows him to transfer his consciousness into another body. I think this explains kangs of other species
Nah. Remember alligator Loki and Throg?
You need to read comics more my friend.
@@ivanriverajr5012 yeah he's thinking of Mr. Sinister lol.
I love your breakdowns and your dog
Ryan you are RUclips Gold !
Idk why but I can't get enough of the lil doggo.
Immortus totally looks like Lopan from Big Trouble in Little China. Lmfao. Is he looking for a maiden with green eyes?
Noice
6:21 underrated impersonation😂💪🏿👏🏿
I think Exile Kang and He Who Remains are the same person. Exile and HWR have the same exact motivations, yet usd different methods, except we know that HWR’s referred to himself as a Conqueror and that he did Conquer like Exile Kang did, but along the way something or someone changed him whom I believe to be Renslayer. Its not hard to imagine along the lines he would change how he went along with his plans, and that he could heal his scars to get rid of any reminder of his conqueror days.
Interesting theory I like it
God damn that was a spot on Immortus impression.
Thank you for highlighting Avengers 292 as the issue that they pulled the end credits scene from. Everybody in the comic market is all over Avengers 267, the 1st appearance of the council of Kangs, but that's not what was shown in Quantumania.
I wonder if they'll explore the Rama-Tut / Apocalypse connection.
Ry guy! Can you please cite the comic books when you throw the splash pages up during your master classes? I end up spending the rest of the night going through my collection trying to find the comics you are referencing.
Awesome channel.
@ScreenCrush There is a Kang with red or scarlet attire, you'll have to look closely. I think you're right though, I think they will just call him Centurion Kang.
I love that every one of these Kangs is a variant of Jonathan. 💪🖤
Please bring the Fantastic Four to Avengers: the Kang Dynasty; they'll know how to beat Kang!
I found He Who Remains in the post credits scene!!! He is the variant standing right in front of Mister Gryphon!
i like the dog, so you got a new subscriber.
Love the Bobs Burgers song in there!
When Doug hears about new guys:
"Stupid new guy"! Everytime!!! 🤣
Loved this movie such a good super hero flik
First time watching a video.. and subscribed because of the dog calling you person.. I found that throughly entertaining.. I’d like to see more..
Love you and your pup, you have an incredible mind
I love the dog so much😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 his voice
THE QUANTUM ENTAGLEMENT SCENE IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES IN THE MCU
I just want to give a shout out to Doug, He asks the important questions and that's why I keep coming back.
I left a comment on a different upload on this channel saying that I thought Kang from that will turn out to be He Who Remains. It just lined up. ..... Then somebody commented back to me the next day pointing out the scars & it killed my little daydream thought.
Anyways, am curious on the next clip with that theory, & especially the given explanation on the scars. .... LoL, my guess was a lot of time to heal them & a new futuristic brand of Neosporin 😂🤣😂🤣. .... Guessing there'll be something better than that 🤞
I don't know who Addison Twitter is but great vid!
In that shot of the Kang you note as possibly being Mr. Gryphon, standing in front of him is a variant who's dressed just like HeWhoRemains, the only difference being that version had dreadlocks. Which would make a total of 3 Kang variants who wear that outfit. It could be that that outfit is just in line with the style of dress from the century Nathaniel Richards originally came from and, just as most Kangs opt for a very similar battle armor, perhaps all variants of Nathaniel Richards dressed very similarly across all timelines prior to meeting one another. Effectively, it's like Rick Sanchez's outfit. So it could be that variants who are dressed like that live their lives more focused on science as opposed to variants in the battle armor who are more focused on conquering.
It would be an ironic twist if what we see as HeWhoRemains' eccentricity in clothing and behavior really didn't make him all that unique amongst his variants: that he was more or less an everyman version of Kang whose distinguishing characteristic was a desire to end the multiversal war for the sake of preserving existence as opposed to merely vying for supremacy (which all the other Kang variants appear to be interested in, tying him in spirit to Kang the Conquerer from Quantumania).
So if time is slower in the QR. Like in end game when Scott is trapped. Would this 7-8 hour long battles/adventure they have been 7 or so years in real life???
I'd like to see a Zombie Kang at some point now that would be dope.
Haven't seen the film yet, have been in no rush, but I take it that everyone on the council is played by Majors and no variety in the multiverse.
I hope that future films they'll actually have variants like they had the different lokis and a different Captain Marvel in Multiverse of madness.
Ramatut was deposed by Apocalypse!
En Sabah Nur is one of my favorite Marvel villains and hope to see him on the big screen someday...
(fails to recall some obscure X-Men movie)
I'm curious what that Kang variant in Creed 3 is gonna do 😆
I wasn't a fan, but Screen Crush is now growing on me.
In the post credit scene where am the Kangs we’re summoned you’ll see a figure with a red clock. I wonder if that could be Dr. Strange crashing the party?? Remember he went into the realm due to incursions. Who knows what he’ll be doing up until that moment.
recently theorized the design on Immortus and HWR chest might represent the heart oF forever as scene In Ant Man 3.
The very idea that the MCU is embracing all this... Kanginess... makes me giggle.
It makes me wish they had this much confidence when they brought out Ultron.
I love that there is no end to “us” or times… ever since my mom bought my first comic.. I’ve understood this isn’t our only world or time… we exist…
So correct me if I'm wrong, but the moment that sylvie killed he who remains is the moment where at all points in time the possibility of a branch timeline exists. Therefore, once he died it opened up the timeline for thr Quang building to be a thing at any point in the MCU since the citadel is outside of time.
It is at the end of time
So there are
Kang the Conquerer
He who remains (not in comics only in mcu)
Immortus
Scarlet Centurion
Pharaoh Rama-Tut
Ironlad
Mr. Gryphon
Victor Timely
Kid Immortus
One Kang variant in the arena seemed to have Dr Doom armour
in Loki we see a variant of renslayer, the judge. Her variant is a teacher and we can see the name on the certificate and it is rebecca touminet. in the comics, it is renslayer and kang who have changed their names Victor timely with Rebecca touminet
Doug needs his own channel.he can review Dog toys and all things puppies love. I bet he'd hit 1 million subscribers in record time 👍
He should cover movies and shows with dogs in the but ignore the human plots and just cover what the dog doin
Maybe Mr Gryphon is also Sonny Burch's client who wanted to buy quantum technology from Hope.
His such a good actor
with the video yesterday about amatwqm I think the question may have been answered but why is it when Am talks about this time being stuck in the Qr in endgame saying "for me it was only 5 hours" cause of the 5 year blip but for Janet she always says she was stuck there for 30 years and not 30 hours
in the vid yesterday I believe towards the end you said they Janet was in a deeper part in the qr then Scott so does that answer my question on why she counts her time in the qm as 30 years while Scott counts it as 5 hours or am I just missing something ??
The alligator Loki variant I always thought was Loki turned into an alligator by Thanos using the reality stone in some other universe.
V T is Frederick Douglas actually
Holy shit
We wuz kangs
Licks lips*
With all the Kang variants, I could see some ending up a few episodes of upcoming seasons of Marvels What If. While one of the Kang leaders may not be 100% be the Scarlet Centurion. I kinda hope he is since that might lead having a variant of the Avengers working for the guy or have the MCU do their version of the Squadron Supreme. Which is MArvel's version of the Justice League. Which I think would be a little funny seeing MCU do a better Justice League then Warner Bros.
I saw one jumping excitedly, I wonder who that variant is
The should have a animal Variant of Kang the Conqueror "Kangaroo the Conqueror!"🤣🤣🤣
Episode 6 !!!!
Metaphysically speaking Kane is each and everyone of us at our full potential in any realm….
When they say it’s “YOU” Vs YOU… it really is when you think about it 😊
If anybody needs a good book recommendation to read: My Friend Jimmy: Memoirs of Alien Abductions. Very good read about time travel too.
I don't think HWR deleted the other Nathaniel Richards variants . I think he just isolated the 616 universe timeline .
In the post credit scene, is that Battleworld?
2:36 is that starlord?
In the comics Dr. Doom and Mr. Fantastic are the ancestors of Kang. In one animation Kang with 20 times great grandson of Tony Stark LOL!!!
2:20 is extremely out of pocket 🤣🤣🤣
I love how Doug has evolved into the peanut gallery LOL.
It looked like there was a red centurion version in the arena
Man, the dog carries this channel on his back. Don't ever fire him
Doing a Rama-Tut movie is the perfect way to introduce the Fantastic 4
Fuck yeah love the bobs burgers clip!!
Did you spot a Kang we missed?
No, but I wonder if they'll have an Odin Kang Varient, where he took over Asgard and the other 7 realms, and used his power to befriend beings like Surter, and the Frost Giant King, etc.
This isn't related to your question, but how were there Kang variants in existence before He Who Remains was killed? Janet met one Kang who was exiled by other Kang variants before Loki takes place. He Who Remains said that his variants would be unleashed if he got killed while they were already in existence. Similarily, the shattered sacred timeline (multiverse) was already in existence before the sacred timeline branched in the Loki finale. It seems like a very huge plot hole. Would be great if you could explain it.
Liu Kang
Pretty sure one of them was your mom.
@@omarelkott6877 My theory is that HeWhoRemains is the one who sent QuantumKang away *before* wiping out his variants.
His goal wasn't to make another HeWhoRemains, but to bring this specific Kang from one cycle and drop him into 616, making him the Beyonder inciting Secret Wars and ending the cycle.
You failed to mention that in the comic mini series The Rise of Apocalypse its revealed that the reason Rama-Tut/Kang went to ancient Egypt was to find Apocalypse. And that the Sphinx In Egypt us in fact Kang Time Machine.
Whoever came with Kang is a genius ..
Reminds me of the council of Ricks
I just can’t get away from thinking of the council of ricks
Does superior ironman will come back in secret wars for the wanda
