The Viking Series 400 Twin Otter can hold a maximum of 19 passengers and 2 flight deck crew. This is the standard commuter configuration; however Twin Otter interiors are adaptable to different mission requirements.
The Otter should not have even been in the list, as all the rest were LSAs or experimental. Not to mention the crazy high cost and need for a "real" license. The Super Petrel should have been added to the list as it is amazing and a perfect fit with the other 4.
I love that the MVP model 3 can essentially be converted into a fishing boat with some easy reconfiguring. The thought of fishing a cove and flying to the next cove sounds like the most fun day of fishing ever.
The MVP and Viking Twin are indeed popular and highly regarded aircraft in their respective categories. The MVP, manufactured by MVP Aero, is a unique and versatile aircraft designed for multiple roles, including personal transportation, recreational flying, and utility missions. It features a sleek design, spacious cabin, and advanced avionics. The MVP's innovative features, such as its swappable cabin modules, allow for easy customization and adaptability to different missions. The Viking Twin, manufactured by Viking Air Limited, is a modernized version of the renowned de Havilland Twin Otter. It is a rugged and reliable twin-engine turboprop aircraft known for its exceptional short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities. The Viking Twin is widely used for regional transportation, utility operations, and special mission applications. Its versatility, durability, and performance make it a popular choice among operators worldwide. Both the MVP and Viking Twin offer unique features and capabilities that appeal to different types of users. The MVP excels in its flexibility and adaptability, while the Viking Twin stands out for its STOL performance and proven track record. Ultimately, the best choice between the two will depend on the specific needs and preferences of the operator or individual seeking an aircraft.
The MVP is by far the best one on the list, I have no idea how the icon has gotten all the clout as the best seaplane when all it can do is fly, while the mvp is virtually the same yet you can fly, fish, and camp.
@@lookileftpooponyourpage5604 I hope so but it seems they have dropped off of the radar which kind of sucks. If they make production they will be a top seller
I agree that the MVP is the best on the list. I like the idea of storing the Icon in your garage, but the price is too high. If the MVP could fold its wings like the Icon, it would be perfect, avoiding hangar fees, store at home or dry dock.
@@lookileftpooponyourpage5604 depends on where you live, I live on a large piece of property with a large barn. Having a dedicated bay in the barn where it will not get damaged is far superior to paying hangar fees.
I'm not sure if the Lisa Akoya project is dead or just hibernating. It's such a beautiful and capable aircraft, I hope it comes back! The last update I read mentioned moving the operation from France to China. The MVP Aero definitely seems dead, however -- Last update was from Oshkosh in 2016.
Why did you include the Otter? Sure It’s super nice but seems completely non sequitur with the other 4. Icon around 400k, then you jump to 7MM for Otter? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Other comments below already call out your error of two passengers for the Otter. But I'm calling out the "tricycle" landing gear on the Otter. The video shows it's quadricycle.
Thank you so much for giving the numbers also in METRIC!! So many yoputubers forgets that the rest of the world need to convert feets/lbs etc Its annoying to stop the video every 1 min to convert. Thanks :-)

you forgot about the super petrel and the seawind. i feel like the twin otter doesn't belong on this list. i also feel like you rated them only by price.
100% true. If they were rated worst to best, the MVP should be #5 because it's never going to make it to production, the A5 should be #4 because it's the worst performance, the most complicated and expensive to own, and it's a half-million dollars and made in Mexico, the Aventura and Searey are tied, and the Otter is 1000% a different class.
at around the 2:00 mark, the Aero Adventure is surely committing serious violations, taking off just in front of many boats that are under way with people. No room for error there.
*Some constructive criticism. The weight can be stated once on any unit measure you like, Horse Power, rate of climb, ceilings, range are the metrics most want to know, as well as useful payload. In this particular video the #1 choice clearly did not belong with the rest.*

While the Super Petrel LS may not be as well-known as some other amphibious aircraft, it is certainly a capable and well-regarded airplane that has earned a dedicated following among pilots.
Indeed, there is a significant difference in cost between the Viking and the A5. The Viking Twin Otter Series 400 is a larger, more capable aircraft with advanced features, which generally comes with a higher price tag. On the other hand, the A5 is a smaller, recreational aircraft designed for a different market segment. When comparing aircraft, it's important to consider factors such as size, performance, capabilities, and intended use. While the Viking may offer more in terms of capacity, range, and advanced systems, the A5 appeals to those seeking a more affordable and accessible flying experience. Each aircraft serves a different purpose and caters to different markets, so it's crucial to evaluate them based on their intended applications and features.
Say whaaaat??? The Viking plane costs $7Mil??? Nah...way too overpriced! For that kind of money, you can get a single or even twin jet engine plane at even a lower price mark, the cheapest one i believe, starts somewhere around $2.5mil, and has a top speed of around 300 to 350 mph and a flight range of 2000 - 3000 miles and can accommodate 4 to 6 people lol!! I've seen a turbo prop TBM plane single engine propeller go for $4 to $5.5mil and reach a top speed of close to 400mph lol, and a top ceiling of around 32,000 feet and 3000miles range flight. Of course it can't land on water like the rest in this video, but heck yeah I'll compromise for what i can get for the steep price alone, plus the rest of the superior specs of the plane such as: speed, max altitude, passenger accomodation, etc! And all for under $4 - $5mil. Waw🤦🏻♂️. I was really shocked when i heard the price for this Viking plane, which in my opinion, shouldn't cost more than $600 - $800k.
