One month ago, I moved out for the first time. I heard the words "I can see you hurting beneath your new address" and it felt like Frank had clapped me on the shoulder and promised me I was going to make it. It has been a hard year, but I am making it. Thanks to Frank Turner for giving me the strength to march on.
frank turner is genuinely the only artist who every song of theirs I've listened to I've loved, I must have listened to at least 90 percent of his songs by now and still haven't found one that i don't love
JensBeauty Parlour Don't get me wrong, I understand it's supposed to be a sad, heartfelt song to finish off what is really a great album, but it just doesn't do it for me; it's about 5 and a half minutes long and if anything only picks up about 3 minutes in.
I wasn't that into this song on first listen, but it's really grown on me. I was playing this album while out walking the other day, and this was the song for which I just couldn't resist dancing and jamming down the (relatively empty) sidewalk. I think it's going to totally kill live.
This song (mainly the acoustic version) has literally saved me. I was planning on suicide and the acoustic version of this song happened to come up on my iTunes and it made stop and think about what I was doing. Thank you, Frank.
Glad you are still here.. I discovered frank through my gf.. & I thank her for that.. so many of his songs, speak to so many people.. it's great to hear uplifting songs.. it's great that there is music like this that speaks to Us.. to You, to Me. .. thanks Frank.. & thanks for sharing this Shelbi.. I hope you are in a better place mentally now.. we never know the small things that can make so much difference.. One big
I thought the same about Broken Piano until we heard it performed "live", when suddenly the power and emotion in the song comes through. Awesome song in my opinion.
It kills me that I don't get Frank as an artist any more. He used to be one of my favourite singers/lyricists and now I feel like I've lost this link, the punk seems half-hearted and the pop makes me feel cynical. I just feel sort of gutted that the 'new' me can't get into the 'new' him.
Im really struggling with these new ones, they're all quite samey, and cheesy and very... meh. not what I was expecting after Tape Deck Heart, that record kicked you right in the feels. not sure what to feel.
***** I've loved the other three so far but with this one I know what you mean, I think the album needed either Mittens or this song but both does seem a bit samey. I much prefer the acoustic version of this song he's performed a few times, I think it suits the song much better
Chris Simpkins Same here...As predicted, I am much more into the acoustic version of the album, It's just more...wait...Frank Turner. And he knows that, otherwise he wouldn't have put an acoustic side. He just feared about being repetitive so he gave a raw and more straightforward verion and production to this album which at the end of the day, ends up being much better acoustically.
***** Get Better is the only one that has stuck with me, the others so far I just can't care about. I heard a live version of Mittens months ago and loved it but the recording just makes it sound like a weak pop song. I actually think the whole record so far would have been better suited to a stricter acoustic set up like previous records. I'm all for evolving your music so I don't begrudge this direction, but I don't think it's working.
***** Same here... I liked Get better a lot and The next storm grew on me over time... Mittens is... I don't really know. It's not a bad song I just feel like I've heard the same song done by Frank already. This one though doesn't do a thing for me. I'll give it a chance because I know that even "the way I tend to be" had to grow on me. I didn't care much for it at first but now I'm buskin' it at bars myself :P So... Let's see what the rest of the album is like first. Maybe this song has it's place in the grander scheme.
this song is amazing! one of my fav songs!

a lot of people have said this, but this song gave me a lot when I needed it

Nicholas rowe Try listening to Broken Piano. Emphasis on the 'try'.
Daniel Mallen i agree, i love all his songs except one foot before the other and broken piano c:
Daniel Mallen you mean the best song on his last album?

Daniel Mallen i actually quite like 'broken piano' i'll admit i have to be in the right mood to listen to it but when i am i quite like it
Freakin' genius this guy is. What a joy to have found him this year.
I love these early releases, it makes the wait for the album that much more bearable
The only Artist (other than Dropkick) that I genuinely enjoy every song. Amazing sound and lyrics like always.

I always seem to enjoy this song more when I watch the video
I love you so much. You know who you are and you know how much I love you
Frank's songs are one of the very few that I never see an argument in the comments section. Says a lot, in my opinion.
Dear Frank, thank you. I needed that.
This is so fucking fantastic.
This song (mainly the acoustic version) has literally saved me. I was planning on suicide and the acoustic version of this song happened to come up on my iTunes and it made stop and think about what I was doing. Thank you, Frank.

just for a moment or two....
By the way, am I the only one who is hearing lot of The Hold Steady influences on the new record?
This gives off bill wurtz vibes 😂😂😂
Disappointed to say that I am not enjoying the 3 songs hes released so far compared to how much i enjoyed tape deck heart and the older stuff.
