I met Frank Turner once many years ago now and had a conversation with the man. He struck me as a genuine and sincere person. He seems to put a lot of himself in his songs. With the new album releasing soon I'm sure that there will be plenty of people screaming to bring back the old Frank. I for one enjoy where his music is headed. For him to be making the same music he was ten years ago would show a lack of growth as a person, and he has never been shy about pointing out that he is not the same person in the same place and that it will have and effect on his music.
Keep up the good work sir. I am looking forward to the new album.

The night before Inauguration Day, I stood in the pit and cried into my Guinness when Frank played Sand in the Gears for the first time at the Fillmore in Maryland.
I can't wait for June so I can stand in the pit and cry into my Guinness to this song.
I was at that show too! It was such a cathartic night at a time when everyone was feeling so fragile and unsure.
I was at the Philly Show the next night, the night of the inauguration and it was amazing. So much emotion but he filled me with hope as well. He's an amazing performer. I can't wait to see him in June!
I was there as well, Stephanie. My 10th Turner concert, and it was unforgettable. I don't think I've ever felt such unity of spirit & purpose. What a night.

I always found this song to be a happy, upbeat, warm and wonderful song that fought against the darkness.

Okay, so the song has an awesome message but... I'll try to explain why it made me cry. How about that fact that when you are kind it's only you who loses their mind? I mean literally. When you feel empathy for everyone you are like feeling the whole world's pain and just can't handle it! You can't fkn live and take any rational decisions bcs of so much pain you are feeling! You just lay there suffering and can't even help those who are suffering too. And because of this they suffer more which means you too. Being kind isn't productive and leads to depression.

Like in terms of how underrated his music is, and the quality of both songwriters, they’re both gems.
Frank deserves to be 100x more popular, and doesn’t get anywhere near the amount of credit he deserves, yet songs like Gucci Gang and Despacito will keep songs like this out of the charts..

I was at that gig too!! I was very fortunate to be put on the guest list when I told him that I initially wasn't able to attend (was unemployed and having to look after sick family) and he is amazing live.. I've seen him by chance 5 years before but am honoured and humbled by him, his music and how he's helped a lot of people out in dark moments and I continue to champion him and his music and always will.
Everybody was saying this was fitting for 2020 but it’s even more fitting now, what with WWIII and a food crisis on the horizon.
