I built my 8.6 for under $700, I used PAS upper and lower, LaRue MBT trigger, Faxon 12" 8.6 barrel, and silencerco muzzle break and the Bering Optics Super Hogster Thermal scope!
I know the feeling on build issues. I ordered my barrel and BCG for a 450 Bushmaster build on 1/20/2023 and it is now 7/22/2023 and still no updated. Messaged them in May and they stated it would ship by the end of the month... As far as my 8.6 build, I had two 308s. Converted the one with the least amount of accessories so I only needed the 8.6 barrel. Definitely about to check your channel for the update.
Faxon just can’t make a bad barrel from my experience. I’ve gotten many from them from a 223 pencil barrel to 6.5 Grendel to 458 Socom and every one has shot amazingly well. They’ve become my go to company when I first build anything.
I like the good the bad the ugly when making a gun video, so I can see the most common pitfalls. You are just like me when making a gun or doing Home Depot home projects. That handguard might be a Midway based on the M I saw.
Aero precision Is based off of the DPMS high profile spec, that is why your handguard doesn't match the height of the receiver. UTG, aero precision, and DPMS Handguards will fit properly so long as they are listed as high profile. And i would seriously recommend getting the aero precision lower receiver.
You can't really mix and match with AR10's they're not mil spec, also definitely not 5/8" it's a M18 x 1.5 pitch with a taper ring. Good luck finding a muzzle break, took me a month.

I feel like the 8.6 blackout is a more marketed version of 338 federal. 338 bullet in 308 case, dies off. Put it in a 6.5 creedmor case and market the crap out of it, then it becomes the magical new thing.
The .338 Federal has a velocity of 2600 - 2800 fps from a 24 in barrel. The 8.6 moves ALOT slower and offers subsonic ammo. 1000 fps from a 16 in barrel. Totally different applications.
@W J Bailey I get that. Personally, I feel like the 300blk works just fine. Hunting with Subsonic ammo isn’t really worth it, and 300blk/ subsonic 308 already exist. I just think it is a money making tactic and will be on forgotten weapons in a few years.
@@bcjdwbiernfjherwfbowfib New cartridges have to be adopted in order to last. "Do I need to spend 100 bucks to get a headspace gauge?" Is risking your life worth that $100 in your pocket? Proper headspacing is the difference between the gun going bang and the gun going boom.
