    Great video. To get a list of screen resolution sizes when selecting the "Scaled" radio button hold down the "alt/option" key and that will give you the resolution sizes list. Lucky you got it replaced...as most of the Tech shops don't give us that option. Thanks for sharing. 👍

    One of the best unboxing I've seen and really enjoyed the explanation of what it could do. I've been working off a late 2015 iMac with Retina and it's been a great friend. But time catches up to all of us, I'm upgrading to the M2 Mac mini and therefore need a new monitor. I've been looking at this one but wanted to better understand it's all round capabilities.

    I had issues with the USB-C port too. In my case, the entire port came right off the board stuck to the cable. LG replaced it and funny enough, the USB-C cable on my replacement came with a detached USB-C port pre-attached to the cable. So it seems like they have lots of problems with the fragility of this port, even at the factory.

    I use this monitor with my M1 Pro 16" MacBook Pro. The biggest downside is that HDR doesn't seem to work properly. Whenever I activate it, the blacks don't go all the way down, it has washed up colours and still doesn't display HDR content properly. If anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated! Other than that, in SDR, beautiful screen with pretty accurate colours and a good viewing angle. Plus the arm it comes with it awesome. The whole thing really is designed for professionals.

Not sure how to explain this but its like the middle of the screen is jumping at you where the ends on left and right are more in the background. I purchased a BenQ PD3230 a few days before Christmas (32" 4k) where I had the exact same issue (actually I was not really sure if it was an issue or if it was just me). I sent the monitor back and got a new one with the same result. I know ordered this LG32UN880 and after reading your comment I am a bit scarred that this will happen again now. I was using a 38" LG Ultra Wide Screen (curved) before and was thinking that I am might not be used to the non-curved display which is then causing this weird feeling.
      I could not find anyone with the same issues online and even had a phone call with BenQ support. No one knew what I was talking about :D Will get it on Tuesday most likely and can only hope for the best now. Still good to read that I am not crazy any someone else is experience the same problem.

    Many thanks for this informative video.
    I'm up to the point of clipping the monitor into the ergo stand but thinking ahead I would like to know how to dismount the screen incase I need to remove it for any reason before I actually clip it in.
    I've been on the chat line with LG in the UK and they seem to answer every question bar the one I am asking - can you help?
    Interesting seeing the usbc mounting proble that you had as I've heard about this but not actually seen why people have had the problem - I'll try to avoid this.

    • @johnwatson8192
      @johnwatson8192 Год назад

      By the way, impatience got the better of me and looking at the back of the monitor I saw that at the bottom of the mounting aperature there is a release button that when slid down pivots the locking catches on the monitor out of the way to enable the monitor to be lifted out of the ergo stand. Simple when you know how but it seems beyond belief that the LG help line could not come up with this answer in a few minutes. The big gripe that I have is that everything is on line, only the briefest of installation instructions are printed and included in the box - not so good if you don't have internet access whilst you are trying to assemble something!

It's the right spec for what I want but I can't help think it's over priced. It's currently £550 on sale here in the UK. £499 would push me over the edge but it looks more like a £399-£475 monitor. Hi, the usb-c port feels delicate and fixed securely which would allow for some movement when positioning the display. I did get this on Black Friday deal, so saved about $350AUD and was really unsure about getting it at full price.
      After 2 weeks the display is crips and everything I need to do my work. I am yet to colour calibrate it as my device is not supported by X-Rite anymore.
      My MBP works well with it, it gets powered by the usb-c cable but only when the display is on. It took me a while to work out to use the one-button toggle control on the display but will get to check it out more when I have time.

    these screens are good but could not be as good as the Mac displays even the old cinema displays the color just pops!

      My old cinema display died many years ago, it was great, pity they discontinued it. This new one is better than my Dell and recent trip to the Apple store the new display just announced looks great and will be better in colour and all other add-ons (speakers & A13 chip and webcam) but it is smaller at 27" and 3x the cost.

      I calibrated the display with an old Colour Munki device, prior to doing this it was at standard settings.

    Maybe one day LG will give the option of choosing between a glossy and matt screen when buying a monitor. Since you already paying so much why not have options then

    • @tasokatsionis
      @tasokatsionis  2 года назад

      I’m sure there are other displays that offer gloss - I was not a big fan of them when apple decide all iMacs to be gloss but you soon forget it is either Matt or gloss.

    i have this monitor and stand...for those wanting the monitor to sit far back (furthest from the seating position), this is not the stand for you. this stand is annoying since it doesn't let you angle it enough. big miss on LG's part.

    Is it a stand alone monitor

    • @tasokatsionis
      @tasokatsionis  8 месяцев назад

      Not sure what you mean. There is a stand that is fixed to your table, you would need to get another stand to be able to move it around.

      I mean, can it work on its own like a regular desktop computer or would I have to attach my Mac or another laptop to it for it to work? Is it purely just a monitor?

    I will be getting this monitor along with the MBP 14” M1 pro next month, can you or anyone let me know if there has been any issues with the display or connectivity with this model please 😊
    Getting a little concerned as when you google best monitors for MacBook Pro M1 pro this doesn’t even make the top 10 so just wondering if there is something I’m missing?

    • @tasokatsionis
      @tasokatsionis  2 года назад +1

      I have a 16” MBP, no issue other than occasionally I need to disconnect the usb-c cable for my Mac to recognise the display. Most Google results I found were based on articles that was someone’s option, maybe paid or not paid and very unclear. I was sceptical with this panel, but I’m glad I got this at a discounted price, I was saving up for the Apple listed LG 5K.

      It’s also a price point that I’m happy to pay… Apple sells a 5K for $1800AUD, got this for $700 on a sale (Apple doesn’t discount).

      We need manufacturers to start covering the mid-level pro market. There's a lot of us that can't get by with these low PPI 4K monitors, but can't afford Apple's pro display. We need a 5K3K in a price range in between these.

    • @neulandlotse

    • @neetop1557
      @neetop1557 2 года назад +2

      Manlike Karoly is making a valid point. At 32 inch 5k should be the default option. Even 27inch at 4k is a bit too low from experience (27inch iMac's are 5k).

    LG could learn a thing or two with Apple in terms of sustainable packaging. Still too many plastic materials and a potential hazard to the environment. Hope they’ll improve soon… Nice unboxing, though…
