I love the Vampire Survivors DLC expansions and how they give you tons of new weapons and playable characters to make the base game levels more replayable. They really feel like they're expanding the size of the game

I cant say im the biggest fan of 3H DLC but the chapter where you need to escape gave me more adrenaline than some of the most high octane action games out there.
Ive yet to actually even touch Engages dlc because I dislike how the bracelets get in the way of the maingames own solid gameplay progression (wow a moment where I lose alot of my cool powers good thing I paid to win and got more so this narrative moment holds 0 weight!).
As for the best dlc I can think of, Bloodbornes dlc isnt actually that long but it hits nearly everything, great new areas that are both interesting to go through and fill in massive narrative holes, new weapons like the whirligig, and also the bosses went hard.

I would personally say I enjoyed the Sonic Frontiers DLC, I mean it wasn't spectacular and it was a bit frustrating at times but it was free and you can tell the developers cared to make something more

not exactly a DLC in the same sense but Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.
The initial release of the game only included the main story up until the characters left the Seiren Island. It did not have the Dana past story with her 2 extra forms and her own pretty well-developed dungeon and amazing boss fight and the post-game dungeon if we choose to return to the same place in the present with the full main cast after beating the story.
I believe the western audience got this full package on release but it initially released on Vita in japan and I played it on a japanese Vita TV. and eventually played this expanded content in the full later western release on PS4. Still among my top 2 Ys games in the franchise along with Ys Origins. Some of the best action RPGs out there.

Calacas chidas caught me so off guard that it's not funny haha
I'm not sure if this counts as DLC, but the "extra" content in Crash Nitro Fueled was so fucking wonderful and made me so fucking happy during a hard time
Extra characters, new karts, new skins, NEW TRACKS and even FUCKING SPYRO COLLAB ALL FOR FREE was the best experience I had with extra content/fan service in a while

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the game had excessive grinding in order to unlock that stuff? I didn't own the game myself but I do kinda remember there were arguments about it

Dlc should have stayed bonus material or story that expands on the already great base game.
Only game I can think of that does this well is Valkyria Chronicles 4 where dlc can't be played until certain chapters are unlocked and they expand greatly on the cast and units. Plus I got the game and dlc for 10 dollars so it was worth it
Graces I wish the dlc stuff was base game as it had great add ons but not worth the price. Older tales games did it best by giving you everything at once

I didn't like 3houses dlc much. Felt like a task rather than fun. Only positive is you need to beat it once for the bonuses to be permeant. Engage messed up on this forcing you to play the file Mutiple times for those units who are actually cool.
I liked awakening and fates dlc away more since fates is technically more routes and amiboo are 100 percent cooler than anything else as playing robin lucina Ike and marth is better than anything else. Plus the bonus classes and pirage shot make the game fun to experiment with too.
Dlc should be free if it's story and only pay for an already great game or cosmetic to those who think it's useful. If game developers think the features that should be base game should be paid for I won't buy

The best DLC out there is the Horse Armor expansion for Oblivion... jk.
I really liked the Three Houses side story, since it was such a big departure from the main game. Not only was it an alternative retelling of what-if, and fleshing out more background behind Byleth, but the pace made the tactical portion so much more fun, and the Hard difficulty was balanced just right. Hard in TH main story is piss easy, and Maddening is frustratingly unfair. It really forced you to constantly move on most maps, you had to take significantly more risks and turtling isn't really an option.
The Frozen Throne (back before the term "DLC", they were only called expansions) added so much in Warcraft III. Ballad of Gay Tony was also an amazing addition to GTA IV. And I've heard so much great stuff about the Mass Effect 2 and 3 DLCs and never got to play them, since they were outrageously expensive on PC. The Mass Effect trilogy is dirt cheap on Steam right now, and it also includes those, so I'm looking forward to beating the trilogy for the second time at some point.
Although, I think that the first expansions I encountered made the most impact on me. It was the Marine Mania and Dinosaur Digs expansions for Zoo Tycoon that I loved to play as a kid. I don't think they were objectively that groundbreaking, but since I've already played the base game for so long, the changes from these was truly transformative to my experience.
