  • Al Jazeera has spoken exclusively to Haiti's most powerful gang leader.
    Armed groups now run large parts of the country and have filled a power vacuum left by the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in July.
    Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds has more from Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

      Freedom of movement is the answer since arbitrary demarcation of political borders are unjust. Only open borders will solve the problems of this world since those confined to limited spaces surrounded by volcanoes, with hardly any natural resources can move to sparsely populated regions and thrive. Free movement will ensure almost proportionate distribution of resources and thereby reduce the chances of unnecessary conflicts.

    Jimmy Cherisier is not a gang, bro. It’s the system he is fighting that is portraying him as such. He was a police officer who refused to do the dirty job, and they wanted him dead for that. Now, they left him with no choice, but to arm himself to save his life and the lives many other police officers just like him who refused to do the dirty job. He spent 14 years as a police officer. Haiti’s police force is politicized, and the higher commanders are bought up by the oligarchs of the system. Barbecue is a patriot, a man of integrity, and he has the courage to speak up for those who can’t and are afraid of the system that’s been putting a knee on Haiti’s neck for so long.

    • @jerryulysse7571
      @jerryulysse7571 2 года назад +4

      @@felixcastillo8526 Haiti doesn’t need international help because the international community together with the oligarchs from the private sector create what you see in Haiti. I mean everything! Now, they don’t show their real face. They just sit in the background with a remote control. They create a system, which is being guarded by some Haitians. I call those Haitians “the true enemy of the country/people.” Those Haitians are politicians that oppress, Journalists that control the minds, pastors that control the faith, teachers that control what people learn. The people of Haiti need to bring down this system from inside first, then they can deal with the international community. It’s not easy, but it’s possible. Go look at the history of the US with Haiti. It’s never been a good/smooth one. The history the France with Haiti, that’s never been a good one. The history of Haiti with the west entirely has never been a good one for Haiti. The oligarchs buy the midis, they buy politicians, they buy pastors. They buy everyone except Jimmy Cherisier Barbecue. If they cannot buy you to do the dirty job, they eliminate you just like they did for the president. We, the Haitian people, know that it’s the oligarchs that killed the president because the president did not want to do the dirty job. Go google the richest Haitians then you will see the oligarchs that I am talking about. Their families are not in the country, they hide their assets including real estate in other countries like the US, Dominican Republic and France. This is another reason why those countries would never help Haïti because they have a stake in Haiti remaining how it is.

We were contract employees there to build the shipping port in Port Lafito. - a joint venture between Haitian govt and American contractor. Even back then,there was resentment among the Haitian people toward their govt. It was my understanding back then, a contractor named Giberto owned and 'ruled' a lot of society. It was chaotic and depressing for the local people. Cite Soleil was the area for us to stay away from back then. However, other areas, away from PaP, were tourist attractions and were well to do ~
