How to install an SSD into the PS5. This is the official SSD for the PS5 from Western Digital #ps5 #gaming #playstation5 #ssd #westerndigital Buy the SSD here - amzn.to/3onog44
yup you can thank sony, i’ve never loved the practices and I’ve been a fan for 20 years but it is criminal giving everybody the bare minimum at launch as always, knowing damn well new game take up more memory. making fans waste more money.. only to have a 1TB console later on…mean while when i decided to also buy an Xbox surprise, surprise, at least they gave me 1TB to start with.
USEFUL TIP: The "official" PS5 NVMe SSD, that is manufactured by Western Digital, is, (depending on region) sometimes more expensive than a regular NVMe SSD with the same capacity. To save a few bucks, try buying a Gen 4 NVMe SSD other than the "official" SSD upgrade, and if you want one with a heat spreader, you can buy one for $3 or less. Just remember the dimensions for the heat spreader is 80mm x 24mm x 8mm.
@@JavidDiljohn1 I got it off Amazon in the US for 169.99 with the heat sink on it’s for 2TB with a max transfer rate of 7300mb per sec or however it’s measured but the highest I could find. You can still do that, for ps4 games. A lot of ps5 games are built around there being a ssd and just wouldnt function on a hdd because hdd are so much slower
So what needs to be done for ps4 at least, is to take an empty HD, format it to ps4 compatible drive, go to settings and ensure downloads happen on the SD and not internal drive.
It was so much easier that way Unfortunately But yeah that doesn’t work for PS5 games. At least you can’t play them directly off the HD what you can do is use it for storage but you have to manually transfer it
You can still do that. You just can’t install PS5 games on it, also HD’s are 27x slower than an SSD so you will have loading screens where as on an SSD your loading screens will be reduced to single digit seconds. You get what you pay for.

@@hs4a085i just a 2tb one for £138 on amazon the 4tb one is £310
It is too expensive.
Best to do is another cheaper External to just store games to save Copy time 😅
Ughhhh
Just remember to check ssd speeds before you buy em.
This was the best upgrade, personally I would absolutely recomend!
lol why would you not just use a normal screwdriver? This way runs the risk of damaging your PS5...
if u can set the torque, the screwdriver will stop before going any deeper. no damage risk
@enrique amaya
No, i dont think i will.
Not on a 5 dollar Walmart drill...
@enrique amaya yeah, i hope jesus will teach him what screwdriver to use
@@danzoombro what?
that's one gorgeous monitor you got there
Whitch monitor ist that?
Or you could’ve just grabbed whatever SSD was compatible at the time when they first announced this
Best PlayStation upgrade I've ever invested in. a must have if you have the coin to spare. now have around 30 full size games installed!
I'm gonna eventually do a 4tb ssd so hopefully I won't need to swap it out with another one anytime soon (that is as soon as I get another job first. 🤨)
Good luck with the job hunt!
@enriqueamaya3883bot alert
@enrique amaya Jlesus 😂
I have that SSD on my PC thanks to a Giveaway and is a F. beast! , the reading and writing speeds are so incredible that the games install in no time.
I trully recommend it.
I hope that everyone has an amazing and memorable rest of the year and safe travels, gaming and adventures throughout the years. 🍀♾️❤️🔥
Had the ps5 since launch and I still haven’t gotten the SSD upgrade 😢
i didn't even have the ps5 yet 😢
i don't have console,i have a potato pc ,however.
yeah I have it too since launch and still no ssd update. I could but I wonder what for? I only play 1 or 2 games at a time and if I want to make space, I move something to the external hdd
what is ps5 ?
I just got my ssd about a week ago and I love it. I got the 4tb though. Expensive as crazy though
I regret buying one before they made the official one, the ssd I bought was more expensive than the 2tb but had less storage, it was also from WD black
Sooo you bought a 1tb wd black and it was somehow more expensive than a 2tb ps5 one…… I’m calling bs because the “official” one is like $200 more than a normal 2tb wd drive
@@pipedgolf4634 I think it was actually 500GB, and it was a little more than 200$
@@Walter_Morganwhere tf are you buying your shit, how is a 500gb ssd over 200$
thanks you always help me with ps5 tips
"Just enough space to update warzone" has me laughing so hard this is so real
Pains me how real it is though lol
Watched 5 seconds and i have to say: i loooove your setup man. So nice. So clean. So drippy.
Got my ps5 recently and i am loving it
@enrique amaya no thanks, i would rather propagate my own religion.
Thank you bro the new call of duty takes up like my entire ps5 storage
Bought myself a 4tb the other day transfer speeds are crazy fast ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Great choice. I have a 4TB in my other PS5, spoilt with storage haha
@@SpawnPoiint Yeah man 👍
4tb is crazy expensive. 2tb is enough lmao
@@nlrenzo9432 They're getting cheaper every month though, you can get a 4tb Integral Advantage PRO 1 for £328 now
@@KingScotto. that’s a good thing to hear, but the big brands like seagate etc are still 600$. More expensive than the console nowadays lol
There should be an option that asks you which drive to use when you are going to install a game
why, its so much better to put it all on the ssd, because if the ps5 breaks all your save data and applications are all on the ssd, whereas if the data is on the playststion storage, if the ps5 breaks to for example a power surge, more than likely the data will be destroyed, sure this could happen with the ssd in it, but realistically all the damage will be to the other components
@@irishlad1367 Yes but what if you no longer have space on the ssd or the ps5 and you want to use the other drive you have to change it manually
@@hadyali10d63 well obviously if it was full you'd have to change it or just delete the data, also, ur better to put stuff on the ssd because it runs better than the stock ps5 ssd
you can
I got a 2tb Samsung internal ssd it’s amazing. $150-$200 at the time I forget which one exactly I have it wrapped up in sheeted like styrofoam until my ps5 pro preorder hits the step. Definately game changers
Screen is Sony A90K OLED 42”
Thanks bro
Thank you!
THANKYOU!
The ending man 😂😂
For some reason I miss the old simple day of PS2 where you bought one dvd game and everything is there, no dlc, no micro transaction, just everything you need is in that dvd
@Spawnpoiint you should make sony ads your voice is so nice you are like the reason I bought a ps5
Kudos to Sony for not requiring u to remove the existing ssd💯
I'm glad they did that. Then it would be a must to upgrade to the 2TB. Otherwise, swapping the 825GB for 1TB is nearly a wash.
I think you can do it with just a normal m.2 SSD
Smoothest loop doesn't exi-
st Smoothest loop doesn't exi-
I think you don’t realize how boring of a loop that was.
I have the Kingspc XG7000 4TB in mine, with a heatsink/cover from amazon, that 4tb is usually on sale for around $200
Just enough space to install the next MW warzone update 😂😂 so true
GUYS YOU DO NOT NEED THE LICENSED ONES, JUST USE ANY M.2 NVME SSD THEY ARE WAY CHEAPER
not any m.2 nvme ssd It has to follow certain specs if it doesn't the ps5 will not accept it
I regret buying a ps5 and a ps4. They're just upgraded ps3s when it comes to the games and gameplay. The only thing next gen is skin deep visuals.
@@J.Wolf90what did you expect? isn’t upgraded gameplay and visuals exactly what you want from a new gen of consoles
@@nooptiui I expect great leaps like the old days. I remember when ps1 and the n64 came out. That was the biggest generation leap ever!
@nooptiui then the ps2 and Xbox came out, that was another grand slam in gaming evolution.
Hahahaha, Warzone take it all😅
I hate updates
Yes I already did this and it helps so much I recommend doing this if you have the money
why im watching this while i don't have PS5
I picked up the 2TB Samsung 990pro with heatsink for under $200. It's definitely worth the extra money. 2.7tb PS5
do the saved games automatically transfer onto the new ssd or would they need to be manually tranaferred?
Thank you so much for this video I love it I’m actually learning because I’m actually getting my first ps5 console tomorrow.
I bought 2tb n I didn’t know how to put it on my PS 5 case n I just bring my ps 5 to the store n ask the technician to patch up for me 😂😂
Damn
And this just goes to show how bad this Sony design is for expandable storage
Damn I didn’t know I had to be a engineer to put extra storage into the PS5
An engineer? Really? It's literally as easy as changing out a battery on any electronic device.
I'm guessing you pay somebody to put batteries inside your TV remote..
No need to be an engineer, but u will need at least 2 years of Locomotive experience & 5 months of Surgery experience to install correctly.
If my 7 yr boy watches this video 3 times he'll be able to get it lol. Your dad failed you lol
How did I get so many likes?
This was here since 2021. This ssd is more expensive for nothing because it's licensed by playstation.
Love the last part.
The perfect loop doesnt exi-
Haha 😂
Yeah exactly
npc yt short comment
“By using a screwdriver”
Uses a whol ahh drill 😭
Electronic screwdriver
Bro ur ps is so clean lol
This is awesome! Thanks!
In this day of age I feel gaming consoles should be made with a lot more storage to them
Lmao you dont understand how much those nvme ssd cost do you?
@@gokucanfly4593 NVMe SSD can range from around $70 to $150, while a 1TB NVMe SSD can range from around $130 to $300. Higher capacity NVMe SSDs, such as 2TB or 4TB, can cost anywhere from $300 to $800 or more.
@Darkest Point Official i nvme that is compatible with ps5 is gen 4 only and typically 1 tb will run you over 200 300 when these consoles first came out hell even more as when ps5 first eas being mad nvme4.0 tech and that speed it used was almost bleeding edge even on pc.... just now they are coming down so unles you wanted ps5 costing 700 or more for 2tb to 4tb then yea. Top line 990s are expensive and new nvme 5.0 ssds even more
