I sell $1.75 cards too. I'm team blue tape because saving even 3 cents a card is like 10% more profit. You can't mitigate every possible issue that could happen in transit. That's why we have insurance. IMO - the tape you use on the edges of the paper is an unnecessary move to mitigate potential damage.

Another nice benefit of the team bag is that it will offer some additional protection in the event water gets on it. Ie mailbox get left or blown open and rain or snow gets in there.

I have no problems receiving cards that are not in team bag. The reason I use them is to keep toploader cleaner and it also helps protect card if the envelope gets wet

If the card comes in original shape I don't care if it comes carrier pigeon. If you're that picky, why are you buying $2 cards?

We could also talk about shipping in a cardboard envelope with a card saver. I've had zero complaints on this method
On this topic, though this is why our Hobby is so broken we are complaining about tape on something we can replace. You are buying the card not the carrier(toploader, paper, etc) if your card is protected get a new toploader pretty simple and keep it moving.

Great video! I had no idea people were so passionate about team bag vs blue tape. One thing I've always thought looks unprofessional is when someone uses a cut up cereal box or other thin cardboard food packaging to protect a card instead of a top loader.

If you are selling low end cards, blue tape or any other tape and team bags and all that other crap are not affordable and you lose profits. You have to improvise and use other methods.

I dont think Ive ever had a card damaged during shipping when I use penny sleeve, top loader, a paper to wrap the card + blue tape. As long as you blue tape the top loader too, the card should be totally fine. I only use team bags for when I ship via Ground Advantage.

  • @avsrule
    @avsrule 10 месяцев назад

I use blue tape and not a single person has ever complained. I don't use yellowed toploaders, but they're buying the card, not the sleeve and the toploader. If I have some older scratched up/used toploaders, I'm not going to contribute to useless additional plastics in the world. My job is to get the card to them as safely and securely as possible - if they want the presentation for a display, they can spring for a brand spanking new topload/sleeve if they desire.
I'll spring for newer toploads and team bag those on higher end items, but I don't sell many of those.

Please tell your picky buyer to not buy from me. LOL I use blue tape... I use team bag for mutli cards though. My top loaders or semi rigids can be used at times too. My theory is you are buying the card not new toploader. I just have to get it there safely. Just my take. If I buy a collection or a box of used supplies, I don't have a problem using that for shipping,

@5:18 As a low-end ebay seller, John is the type of buyer I like to avoid. If Im selling you a card for $2 + free shippinh and Im packaging it a way that it gets to you safely without blowing the budget, I dont understand where the complaint is. Do you not know that you are spending two dollas!? And you getting exactly what you ordered which is the card. I would be thrilled if he never buys from me because hes the type that prob offers $1 on a card already marked at $1.50 free shipping. At some point these low-end buyers need to put themselves in our shoes too. Because if they are as petty as they appear to be, there is no way they would do more for their customers.

What’s the most aggravating return for the postal service you’ve had?
    I had two last December:
    1. The PWE made it all the way to Texas (from illinois) and was sent back for 40 cents. (All others were delivered)
    2. I had a bulk lot that was sent back for a dollar, and and was opened for “quality control”

I have received cards with blue tape on the top loader and there is some residue on the top loader when removing the blue tape. Blue tape are just as bad as scotch tape. I've been selling cards for 25 years myself with over 60,000 cards listed on ebay. There are a lot of benefits to having an official business license such as getting card supplies from the manufacturers at the best price possible. But these card supply manufacturers have some policies that most average card shops can never fulfill. I know BCW require you to have a loading dock or fork lift to take a pallet of card supplies off the truck. Not all trucks have a liftgate and it costs more money to use the liftgate service.

You will still need to do everything the same as you do keep card from moving around inside envelope whether it's blue tape or scotch

I use blue tap to seal the top and make the top loader or semi-rigid as flat as possible and then put the card in a team bag. Never had a complaint on blue tape. Or shipping protection either.

I ship out using penny sleeve, top loader and team bag unless it’s a multiple card order then it’s penny sleeve, card saver and team bag. I get cards using tape all the team when I buy lots from eBay. I’m fine with it. My opinion if a picky buyer doesn’t like how you ship them to bad not worth it for a few buyers who don’t like it.

Personally, if I do not use team bags. I personally think that it doesn't add one ounce of additional protection to the card and it adds additional cost to my card sold. When you are selling low-end cards, a seller will make perhaps 20-25 cents profit after expenses. An additionally as a buyer, I do not like receiving single card purchases wrapped in a team bag. Just adds additional waste for me to throw away and takes extra time to open the card. As for the person who said that they would not buy from a seller who does not use team bags and uses blue painters' tape to when shipping, I say good, please don't. Because if you are inspecting your card that closely, then perhaps you should limit your buying to purchasing only hobby boxes in the hopes that you land that one single card you're looking for to complete a set or subset.

  • @brianc9036

You are talking about cards that cost a couple bucks. Most of which are 30+ years old. Never going to be worth anything significant. If the card get damaged just file the claim. That’s why eBay created the ESE. I use to sell cards in the late 2000s we would use top loaders and a butterfly stamp. Now that I am getting back into this I just use card savers because they have to machinable for ESE and that tracking to work.
I think blue tape is the best option, team bags are a waste of money would still end up using blue tape to tape the team bag to the invoice.

Could you do a video explaining how to do more bulk shipping? Unless you’re really against it. I have a bunch of partial sets, maybe 50-75 cards and would rather ship all of it than list each individual card. It can’t be worth listing 75 cards individually time wise. Would people buy them in more bulk orders? Thanks.

A fresh penny sleeve and toploader is always great! ..if it's a higher value/numbered card a team bag sets it off nice! The less blue tape used the better, I dislike when I get a card that has it slapped on halfway down the card (not typical but does happen) as I have to apply pressure to the card to peal it off. ..I even get taped or sometimes custom store named tape ..CARDCZAR for example, that is in additional to the team bag. My dislike is when the tape is much too tight and pinching the toploader together, on the other hand, for thicker cards especially, if it's too loose the card can stick to the tape.

If you sold a $1 card and a stamp is 65 cents plus 50 cents ebay fees, you are already in the minus. Forget the top loader lol

Oh wow, I.m famous. I see what your saying about taping the edges so the card doesn't move - but most don't do that. To be honest I use blue tape as well. On ESE cards its in the TL and Team Bag, but then I blue tape it to the paper to keep it from moving. Im actually liking how you tape to prevent moving and might adopt. When shipping BMWT the card is in the TL and Team Bag but then Blue taped between two pieces of cardboard/hobby armor. I also don't care so much as long as the card arrives safe. I have seen some really ugly shipping methods but the card was fine. I leave positive feedback since the card was fine and don't give it a second thought. great discussion, lots of opinions and gave me some ideas to improve. PS im glad you said you use new TL - I do that as well. I hate it when I get a crusty old TL that is yellow etc...

Thank you for the content.....Me personally I do anything over $10 in price I use a team bag and below that I use blue tape. I have had cards in a team bag pop out of the top loader and bend the top. It was rare occurrence as I buy a lot, but It happened. Guess it depends how tight you can seal it to the point of wiggle room in the team bag.
