14 years ago and highschoolers still doing it today to the exact same trucks. Great video. Forgot to mention to return the hammer to the kitchen when your done
This video is actually very helpful! I have a 4.5 in suspension lift on my '08 Ram, but I've been thinking about cranking it up a little more in a low cost manor. Thanks to this, I might just do another 2 inches all body, by myself :)
@Greg , they took the bumper off to install brackets to raise the bumper. Same with the back. They made it look easy but there's much more to it. Steering extension, radiator brackets, fuel extension,etc.. It will take a full day.
Nice job. Years ago a company called "Lift Lips" made flexable durable gap fillers that made the gap between the bed and frame vanish. Don't know if their still around but if you can find them in an old image you can fab yourself some they use body clips to stay in. And for anyone else that might be interested if you don't know really how to use a cut off wheel I would suggest a reciprocating "sawzall" with an 8" blade. To do the frame cutting. And find a friend who will tack weld in your bed blocks. they will not ride around in there pinched. And from experience if you can find thin uhmw cut it to the size of the weld in block and bond it to the block on the bed side not the weld side. This will eliminate high frequency squeaks.
I got a 4 inch torsion key front end lift and a 3 inch blocked leaf spring lift on my rear on my 2003 ram 1500 4x4 off road package (rare af in fact) and it’s got the powerful 5.7 hemi muscle under the hood. Was a little bit tired at the time with over 200k on it. Now has over 270 been rebuilt at 253k miles myself everything freshened I think it would of maybe got CLOSE to 300k miles how it was all original except for a aftermarket rear end Yukon posi limited slip, suped up tuned, exhausts, K&N, MSD ignition, manifold, throttle body, heads, etc etc Now it’s making almost 500HP beast N/A out of a old 5.7 magnum. I body lifted it a extra 2 inch I didn’t want to spend money and redo everything which was already all new ball joints, u joints in the rear shaft etc etc etc
great job.i just had to take my out cause it wreaked my ball joints but now I see how easy it it for a body lift I am doing it.thanx for making this video
I have a 4 inch body lift , I got it so I could comfortably fit bigger tires on my ranger , also bought 1 and a half inch lift suspension all the way around so now I got a better grip and foot print with radius of the tires and I have quite a bit more clearance . Body lift ftw
so, 4 was ok, have a 04 ram 1500 with fabtech 6" full suspension lift, still I WANT 4 more , glad to hear another has 4 thnx , ps my first amature ama assigned number way back in 1979 KX 125 was 57 , :)
This is THE best video I've seen on youtube, much respect, kept me laughing and truck looks good man. I'm about to do a 3'' body lift on a 92 f150, hope it turns out as good as yours and is as much fun
Body lifts are just as safe if not better than an suspension lift due to the fact with suspension lifts are really tough on your suspension after 4 - 6 inches.
Well depends on how heavy the trailer is. you could also swap out your rear shocks for some stiffer ones and get less of an effect on the front of the truck
For first timers they need to go really really slow while lifting, search all over for those illusive ground straps or brackets holding a wire tight or fuel filler hose that may need attention etc...before going up all the way on each side. There will always be something that takes more time.
this vid helped me completely understand body lifts. i assume it would be the same for most other trucks? not quite sure why he took the bumpers off tho...
I've done many body lifts, I did one in a 96 ram that needed the shifter linkage extended, you don't need to extend the steering on many models though done may suggest it, I didn't put the extension in my 94 f150 and it isn't causing any problems
on your red truck what brand of lights did you get and what brand and where did you get your hood scoops. I WANT THAT SOOO BAD. i love your redtruck man, it looks perfect
I installed this same kit (Performance Accessories) on my Chevy Silverado...Looks great as an end result, but beware everybody...rusty bolts are not your friend!
Was a steering column extension used for this? How many inches of lift is this? I plan on doing the same to my Chevy. Great job on the RAM by the way. Looks Great!
lol love the video man that was awsome love the deal at the end when the plates where being put back on that was great love the truck..... DODGE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol nice vid sharp truck, 1 question though, when u put like a 3 inch body lift do yuo gotta lengthen any of that stuff like ur steering column or any of the wires u said u have to disconnect? or does that usually reach?
few quick questions, thinking of installing a body lift on my truck. What is the purpose of the crush blocks? since your only tack welding them in do you leave them in or take them out after the whole install? I don't have easy access to a welder so do i need to tack them in at all? Also the mounting bolts, do they have nuts on the other side (I'm guessing so)? Thanks for your feedback, excellent video, extremely helpful.
Dude that's a good video, Tell me do you have to extend any of the wiring or the brake lines the steering collum or the transmission linkage stuff like that????
all you need is them fender liners from Dodge to cover that nasty gap in the back. I have a 6" suspension lift on my Ram3500 Cummins and am going to put a three inch body lift to fit 40's next month. Did you have any issues with the brake lines being too short?
Do you "HAVE" to weld those blocks in the back? Also, what are the best body lifts for an '05 Ram 1500, 2wd. I was looking around and seen PA(Performance Accessories) is best. And what do you have to cut on the front bumper/ back bumper? I'm learning as i go, so im just trying to gather info on whats what with a body lift.
thanks for posting this. i just bought a 2010 dodge ram 1500 laramie and want to put a lift on it. it has 20" wheels and it looks good, but i want it to look GREAT. i've been pricing what it's going to cost, and it's all over the place as to the lift and install. that's what led me here :-) what would a typical, fair price be for the lift kit and install? thanks again for taking the time to make the video.
Your suppose to. I've heard of people not doing it though and being fine. I just un did the bolts and as i jacked it up putting the mounts on it seperated itself.
Scientisits have proven that by lifting the body of your truck, even only two inches creates a difference on what you can clear in the dirt. plus your truck will look tougher. some of the comments on here smh. get what ever you want and mod it how you want, no one gives a sh1t what anyone else says.
Body lifts are for people who don't have the money or for the posers who jack their trucks up so they look cool drivin down the road. I agree with with you that suspension lifts are much better.
Body lifts eliminate the wear and tear that suspension lifts do if you dont upgrade the suspension along with. If ypu have a truck that already has a good ground clearance at stock suspension height, and just need the body to clear some bigger tires and rims, body lift is the right way to go for the money.
nice trucks you guys got there i was wonderin can i do a 3 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift on my ram without havin to change anything like brake lines driveshafts er anything like that?
Great video man. Im looking at putting a 2 or 3 in body lift on my bronco II. On the bumper lift, why did you have to cut that frame for the brackets? Also... "Holy Tornado Jesus" Hahaha
hello, I'm from Brazil. got 2500 dodge ram heavy duty 2008 model. I have to modify the support of the front bumper?? really need to cut the chassis? I could pass measures to block all "lift ""??? I modified the suspension on mine, put a lift of 4 inches. I want to lift the cabin with this body lift too. I'm using tires 37x12.5 r17. I intend to use 40x13.5 r17. congratulations on your work. I hope your answer. thanks
Will i have to relocate the exhaust tips to line the up with the rear bumper or witl the bumper stay in the same place? on the 09 the bumper is molded so that the exhaust tips are inlay-ed in the bumper. that's the only i am not sure of. didn't know if you have any ideas? thanks
hey...im new to the truck scene...coming from hondas...is it possible to do suspension and body lift at the same time? and how long does a body lift take?
yeah, thats what im doing, got a fab tech 6" suspension lift on my 04 1500 crew cab and wanting to go a full 4" bod life trying to (pray for me, ha) set of 45's military michelins on 20's 'ANYONE' who seriously can add good , 'EXPERIENCED' advice pls do so, thank YOU all lifted drives rock ! RICK CHEW SAYS SO !!!
i'm about to put a body kit on my 2000 z71 and i was wondering if you can use blocks and also use torsion keys to raise the front a couple more inches.
Porfavor profe....tiene las dimensiones o medidas exactas de los soportes o topes que le puso para la suspensión ...quiero hacerle ese trabajo a mi RAM....muchas gracias
14 years ago and highschoolers still doing it today to the exact same trucks. Great video. Forgot to mention to return the hammer to the kitchen when your done
came here for the lift, stayed for the commentary
lol ... same here
agreed that was some funny shit
EricRacine123 holy tornado Jesus
"Oh and there's the boy oh wait he ran inside he's to chicken"
i don't think I've seen such a funny informational video.
This video is actually very helpful!

Dear lord help this is the funniest and most informative video I've seen in a very long time

You could also use roofing tar sheets.

Came for the lift. Stayed for the accent. 😂
Body lifts are just as safe if not better than an suspension lift due to the fact with suspension lifts are really tough on your suspension after 4 - 6 inches.
RF, one of the best vids on youtube i've ever seen
Well depends on how heavy the trailer is. you could also swap out your rear shocks for some stiffer ones and get less of an effect on the front of the truck
Not that bad. Mine squats a little bit in the back but it still looks good haha. You can always get add-a-leafs to help as well.
For first timers they need to go really really slow while lifting, search all over for those illusive ground straps or brackets holding a wire tight or fuel filler hose that may need attention etc...before going up all the way on each side. There will always be something that takes more time.
thank you for the great tutorial, thinking about a body lift now instead of a suspension lift on my 98 F150 4x4!
this vid helped me completely understand body lifts. i assume it would be the same for most other trucks? not quite sure why he took the bumpers off tho...
Awesome video frogaliscious!! Funny humor, great camera angles,Extremely helpful, thank you!! :)

That commentary was funny as shit haha. I loved it
on your red truck what brand of lights did you get and what brand and where did you get your hood scoops. I WANT THAT SOOO BAD. i love your redtruck man, it looks perfect
And the mounts could effect the ride quality if you were replacing the rubber with something stiffer like poly but not in this situation.
haha by far the most entertaining bodylift video ive seen yet...
I installed this same kit (Performance Accessories) on my Chevy Silverado...Looks great as an end result, but beware everybody...rusty bolts are not your friend!
rightly said sir, however PB blaster sure is ha, thank YOU
Those are some beautiful trucks
Love that, ScreenVariety TV is the best to watch NFL
sounded funny when you was talking like a chicano or mexicano like me man...
@frogaliscious body mounts can be made of a variety of different materials meant to just slightly improve ride. very small effect but its possible.
When you do body lifts do you have to mess with any wires, steering column, etc?
Very well planed video. Educational . Well explained. Thank you sir. But I'm just going to hire someone to do mine. A finger smasher for sure!

@frogaliscious thx for the vid too... now i know what to expect, and tools ill need! may the mud gods shine down on you!
few quick questions, thinking of installing a body lift on my truck.

HOLY tornado jesus, you have the perfect country music voice
Man it's definitely worth it to spend the extra money on a suspension lift even a cheaper one like Rough Country is better than any body lift.
You sound like Arlo Guthrie! Good tutorial.
Do you "HAVE" to weld those blocks in the back? Also, what are the best body lifts for an '05 Ram 1500, 2wd. I was looking around and seen PA(Performance Accessories) is best. thanks for posting this. i just bought a 2010 dodge ram 1500 laramie and want to put a lift on it. it has 20" wheels and it looks good, but i want it to look GREAT. i've been pricing what it's going to cost, and it's all over the place as to the lift and install. that's what led me here :-) what would a typical, fair price be for the lift kit and install? thanks again for taking the time to make the video.

4:26 - 4:34 thats what she said.
anyways good job man! very educational! plus not boring so i could stand to watch it!
would a body lift like this require any driveshaft, transfer case, transmission, brakeline, or steering modifications?

Cool vid. Thanks! Im lifting my 04 4x4 dodge soon. this should help me and save me $
Great video man. Im looking at putting a 2 or 3 in body lift on my bronco II. On the bumper lift, why did you have to cut that frame for the brackets?
Also... "Holy Tornado Jesus" Hahaha
Was looking for a better description on how to do the bumper lift installation.
random question: where did you get the hemi decal you got going along both sides of your truck? btw nice job on the body lift!!

Commentary was great!
wanting to do a body lift on mine. already have suspension lift. just a bit afraid of the bumper mods needed.
As it is such a small amount of lift, surely packing the springs would be easier?
hello, I'm from Brazil. got 2500 dodge ram heavy duty 2008 model. I have to modify the support of the front bumper?? really need to cut the chassis?

Will i have to relocate the exhaust tips to line the up with the rear bumper or witl the bumper stay in the same place? on the 09 the bumper is molded so that the exhaust tips are inlay-ed in the bumper. that's the only i am not sure of. didn't know if you have any ideas? thanks
