    Over across the pond. First and foremost, love the content broski. Secondly, Konami is 100% in the right about this for LEWD CONTENT ONLY. Hands down, no doubt about it, no ifs, ands or buts. The only thing that irks me endlessly is them talking about sleeves. Sleeves should be a personal choice because I AM spending the money to protect my cards, NOT KONAMI. This doesn't include lewd sleeves, obviously. The reason Im annoyed about it is because I just spent a good amount of money on some custom inner and outer sleeves, only to find out they won't fly at almost anything higher than locals. Then saying the lewd stuff isnt allowed is fine, i cringe hard whenever someone busts out the lewd deckbox, with the sleeves, and the waifu field center, on their lingerie Dark Mag Girl playmat. 🥴🥴🥴🥴

    • @zephyrwargamesyugioh
      @zephyrwargamesyugioh  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah I'm really hoping that gets refined but the mention on sleeves is the same as the mats, some sleeves either matched the mat or were super dodgy, boarder sleeves may still be allowed "within reason" as they don't really refer to them.
      Also sucks as I really liked the dragonshield art sleeves they do but guess I'll keep them for local use

    If they roll this out everywhere I mean America which literally advanced the custom and specialized accessories for Yugioh for the last 7 years I will quit. Like the deck boxes, the cloth companies that made a business from it, the card sleeve and accessories companies all being damaged by this and all the players that spent money on this are being compromised. This is fucked. I’m at the age now where if they keep doing tier 0 formats and forcing us into the playing expensive decks just to play and now no accessories of your own choosing then naw I will be done with the game.

    People getting upset over nothing. Not only isn't this a widely enforced policy outside of European championships, but even if it were (and I hope it is), it makes logical sense not only for the attending children's sake but also for the adults who simply don't want to see that crap. It's not like trading card games like Magic haven't had similar rules for decades. You could argue, why now? Just because it has been so for years doesn't mean they shouldn't change, especially given that there is precedent in the trading card scene. Another thing you could say is, well, I could simply turn it around if I battle against a kid or someone who doesn't want to see that. If you think that way, you clearly miss the point. Cameras are everywhere, people are everywhere, so someone would've seen it and that's one too many. That's such a rude attitude. Also, the backside wouldn't have card zones. I hate playmats that don't have them, especially nowadays where the position of cards is so important.
    What this policy change proves is more of a self-report that someone thinks lewd playmats are appropriate to be seen by children or adults that don't want to know your interests.
    And it's not like custom mats and sleeves are banned entirely, just that these custom items have to be plain and simple. Granted, that point could need some clarification: what is considered simple and plain? Just one color, two colors, a plain white background but with colored stripes of 5 colors which, I'd argue, is plain and simple. And what about adding in names and logos of you or your team? The final say is with the head judge. It only makes sense that Konami would prefer their customers to use their products as well.

    Personally I believe if Konami understood their players they'd refine this restriction heavily. The restriction on rude or inappropriate materials should still exist but they shouldn't lock you into buying plain or Konami branded and disguise it as looking out for the youth and making easier for judges.
    You're probably referring to the short by akemi tcg.

    • @zephyrwargamesyugioh
      @zephyrwargamesyugioh  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah referring to the short.
      I agree to you about the outright ban seems to much and so many people are negatively effected as "collateral"
      However I also understand why they did it as a blanket ban, as people all have different definitions on what "lewd" is.
      To the majority it is obvious, but if everyone saw the obvious items you shouldnt bring in public, we wouldnt have need for this rule or the deodorant rule.
      Im disappointed, but objectively can see why its been done.
      Hopefully its refined in the near future.

  • @goldlink567
    @goldlink567 5 месяцев назад

    I'm hoping they'll allow a way to give a playmat an 'official seal of approval' type thing, even if it's just limited to each event. I was going to draw a playmat and get some custom art Dragon Shield sleeves. But now it doesn't look I'll be able to if this comes to affect locals without changes/updates.
    I also would argue Spellground and similar playmats that only have the zones and/or simple patterns are allowed and fall under "plain", but it's annoying how vague it is. They should instead say "depicting inappropriate imagery for duelists and their families", which is still very vague but would allow (probably) most playmats to still be allowed and not have every player question every unofficial playmats. Get rid nsfw playmats please, lewd and high gore imagery begone, don't just banning all mats with graphics that aren't made by Konami.

  • @wakkaseta8351

  • @xSkwintz
    @xSkwintz 5 месяцев назад +1

    For anyone who doesn’t really understand, as stated in the announcement:
    • For Europe and Oceania.
    • It’s only mainly for livestream feature matches, which the event usually will provide a mat for already so it’s mainly just the sleeves you have to worry about but the sleeves policy is the same either way so this shouldn’t be an actual issue whatsoever. If Konami actually bans mats other than their own for non feature matches, they’re going to have a massive problem on their hands….

    • @zephyrwargamesyugioh
      @zephyrwargamesyugioh  5 месяцев назад

      It's not just for the feature mats, its through out those spercific tournaments as they talk about judges being asked if stuff is appropriate and also walking around the venue etc. Of course you could still use what you want, but I've known in the past ppl getting sharkered on clear sleeves may not be worth the off chance risk

      very true, however the issue is "people dont seem to understand what is defined as lewd" obviously to us we know what is and isnt, but clearly people havent understood that or have different definitions as to what they define as Lewd, hense leading to this rule coming into place.
      To me, its the same as the deodorant, commen sense would dictate that you shouldnt need to be told that the individual smells, yet the rule had to be put in place

      Unclear currently, I'd like to think you can and you'd have more ground to argue your point as they don't define that, and ICG accessory quality is much better, I'd say if they limited it to just offical TCG accessories then I'd be more annoyed as that's for monetary reasons imo and not "content" reasons

  • @VampirusX1
    @VampirusX1 5 месяцев назад

    Lol, havent u heard? Common sense is not really common. But still, I believe they should allow at least mats that has their Team name. Not so much one with monster graphic, but just the name or perhaps one with a child-friendly border design or one that has card placements.
    Now, my thoughts on this? I believe the rule creations to make YCS more strict is not gonna stop. Its just going to snowball from here. Ever since they spoke up about the hygiene thing, its been seeming like Konami has decided to become more and more vocal over things they have had issues with.

    • @zephyrwargamesyugioh
      @zephyrwargamesyugioh  5 месяцев назад +1

    • @VampirusX1

      @@zephyrwargamesyugioh It is at the end of the day BECAUSE of those very reasons. Its like the warning labels where its common sense that fresh served coffee is going to be hot, until someone got burned and sued because "they werent told it was hot".
      These people who go around making these things happen to make Konami react in the way that they do are why we have all these rules in the first place. Its a public event that involves all kinds of people and kids, so they need to carry themselves responsibly.
      My only issue with it how strongly they went about it. Instead of allowing some exceptions to allow the advertisments of classy artists, they said solid color or Official Konami products only. Like, dang, fa real? Its that serious?!

    • @zephyrwargamesyugioh
      @zephyrwargamesyugioh  5 месяцев назад +1

      @VampirusX1 yeah I feel bad for the artist but as we have already established common sense seems to be lacking from the game and I'd expect if konami said something like "we are banning lewd accessories" they would still get their stated issue of people asking if its lewd or not and using a lewd mat and saying "oh I thought this was fine" making it direct, to the point with no grey area would in Theory end the questions there imo
