You should bring patience and a good sense of fun! Well...bring a mask at least. Covid and such is still a thing.
You forgot the most important thing, a backpack to store everything in.
here’s a idea make dueling vid but like a battle city finals type of duel everybody against one another
Deo and cash for food hotels travel all that hoopla
Where can you get another id card? The game shop I went to only provided a code when I registered because they were out of physical cards when I signed up. I've been trying to get back in after a lot of setbacks.
you forgot to mention deodorant and gatorade because everyone be smelly and sweaty playing yugioh
Youre not losing so much electrolytes from playing Yugioh for Gatorade 😂.
@@traplover6357 when I say sweaty I mean that everyone is a tryhard and the majority of the decks you will play are expensive top tier meta decks.
This is a universal unspoken policy everyone should follow.
Aren't people tired of this? Literally every fandom I'm in that meets somewhere says this same joke. Maybe, just maybe, everyone is depressed.
I'm just tired of making fun of people with obvious issues
@@sagethevvitch Depression doesn’t excuse proper hygiene and hydration.
Don't forget you're cash. Someone might have some cardboard you need!
Or you can need it to screw the rules

For someone who wears glasses, I always kept a small kit for glasses maintenance on me. From the cloth wipe, to a small drop bottle of solution to a mini screwdriver with spare screws to help whoever needs their glasses fixed in some way. Might be a bit much and most pharmacies carry them, I just got them because I have had my pair for almost 17 years.
I would also recommend bringing a power bank to recharge your or your teammate's phones.
And please, for the love of Ra, shower before coming to a tournament
But what if I'm trying to cosplay Plaguespreader Zombie?

Me and my younger brother used to play in the back of my grandmas Riviera with the center seat rest. But this was 2007 and our monster zone was practically stacked on top of each other. Magic and trap zone was under the arm rest. Good times.
Love the Riviera
Tomorrow I have my first YGO tournament ever so this is an awesome video tysm Team APS
Good luck Jose! 🎉
Good luck my friend!
Good luck!
Lol 😂good luck u mostly liked go x4 but have fun
I’m of the mind that double sleeving is a MUST for official Konami sleeves. I got a set of the KaibaCorp ones a few years back and they aged like milk without over sleeves. Picked up a second set to replace the first lot I had and they’ve held up much better with that extra protection
I don't know why, but deck boxes have always fascinated me by its design and able to carry a deck without trouble. 💯
if you want to double sleeve you can also use perfect fit inner sleeves, whichever you prefer.
You forgot the deodorant
Love these updated tutorials recently started playing competitive and going to locals and getting updates help a lot! Thank you team aps ❤ the content
Glad you like them!
Love seeing these types of videos every now and then. Even tho it's repeated several times, good to get an update every once in a while
I do it mostly because there are always gonna be new faces who maybe missed the last

I too enjoy bringing peanut butter based snacks to tournaments to trigger the allergies of my peanut sensitive opponents for free wins
Opens snicker. Opponent dies
Thank you for this little guide. To be honest, this recomendations would work with every TCG tutorial. I live in a little city in Russia. During this summer I'll be in Moscow. I hope, I will be able to take a part in a tournament. (we have our own TCG, called "Berserker". Wish me a luck)
What about a single domain deck for when you wanna catch a chill game with the squad?
I usually have t his little zip up bag thing I keep all my floaties in, dice, life counters, stuff like that.
That is useful to have. My dice always find themselves in random pockets in my bag
This was an amazingly comprehensive video! Thank you for sharing, it may help me get started with learning about this game.
Thank you team aps. I never would have remembered to bring my deck to a yugioh tournament
Dont forget a tazer just in case you get jumped on after X-0 some people with VS
This stuff helps out a lot! I'm trying to get into locals and I'm trying to gather my cards to make a proper deck! Thanks Team APS!
I would recommend to use Yu-Gi-Oh! Neuron for your Konami ID, not the physical card, because you can forget it or lose it and Neuron will be in future essential for any tournament
This came out at the perfect time. Going to my first regional with Generaiders this Sunday.
I like the way u slid in the Ridge
I think something super important for reigonals is $23 in cash. For Florida atleast, we have 2 lines for regional registration, one for cash and one for card. The cash line is always significantly shorter and so you spend less time waiting in line
Good call! I totally forgot to mention that.
You are the best content provider of YuGiOh. From someone who's getting back into the game, thanks.
I second water & snacks. After my first locals, I didn't want to go to the tournaments anymore because I haven't had anything to eat or drink. Luckily, I think it was my dad to suggested that I bring food & water, and I've been going to locals for years now.
As for the food rule, mist card shops (not major events) will let you eat during a match, as long as it isnt intruding on the gamestate. As an epileptic, having a seizure at my locals was a BIG wake up call to all the staff and players. When paramedics arrived, someone had packed up my deck, my mat was cleand and brough back to me 3 weeks later, when i decided to return to my local (which i unfortunately covered in bl**d due to hitting my face on the table on my way to the floor). Long story short, if you're medically inclined, let the head judge know of your condition BEFORE the tournament starts, and let your opponent know before the match starts, that things may be a bit slower, or that the duel may be a little different to meet your needs. At the end of the day, we are all their to play yugioh and have a good time.
Aerosol spray
Hand sanitizer/rubbing alcohol
Face mask & vics inhaler
Handkerchief & extra shirt
The history of the duel is still shown in the YGO Neuron app in the log option
funnily enough I judged at regional qualifiers last week! absolute fave deck check was the guy who had one of those deck boxes that holds 2 decks... with 2 decks in there. In the same sleeves. So technically he had an 85 card side deck (including the 15 cards in his actual side deck).
Basically, don't be that guy. Or the guy who tried to dispute a head judge call (which the rules don't allow for) by pulling up a reddit thread (on the phone that should have been on airplane mode).
Actually that wasn't even the end of that guy's saga. despite seeing me refer his earlier call up to the head judge, AND me pointing him to the head judge for a followup question... he still mistook me for head judge on a later judge call. (Working theory is I was the least visibly disabled non-woman out of our judge team, so he just Assumed.)
Can we do a 5D’s house tournament in the future?? I know it’s probably a task to get everyone together, but I’d looove to see it!!
I run phantom knights and fire kings and i got me a mat so this is very helpful Paul thank you
Respect on the snickers as a need to take
I would love to see more tournament vlogs of you guys
It's a bit tough making a tournament vlog since recording at regionals is usually discouraged, so you're left to just relay the story after the fact. Locals isn't usually interesting enough to warrant a video.
Most of this applies to pretty much every card game/TCG/CCG you will ever play. Come prepared, come clean and come with a good mood and you will have a great time.
I have the albaz binder. Cards in the konami made binders only sit in perfectly without a sleeve, with a sleeve they protrude out just a bit.
8:06 : A question about Legal Dices on Events/Tournaments: ¿Only Konami Yu-Gi-Oh! dices are legal on those events?¿Or you can use any dice in good condition, without any external sign indicating they're tied to any other specific game/brand?
Can anyone go to spectate my son loves Yugioh and we would like to attend for the first time to spectate or look around and check it out
Yes you can!
@Team APS thanks!
dice are also good for cards the need counters such as shard of greed, breaker, 6th samurai united, & other cards like that
Does the keys have a pager for when you lose them? Because without that we won't be able to hear them when trying ti find them and shaking everything.😂
Great to see another one of these videos again Paul; at events such as locals or higher tier events, do the event hosts ever lend or provide dice or mats in the event we don’t bring them?
My experience is generally no, you are expected to bring your own mats/dice.
Nope, its expected that you bring your own stuff.
@@roarbahamut9866 thank you for your answer.
@@Neurotoxiny thank you
Generally no. You may be able to purchase them from vendors if it's a larger regional or YCS.
I havent had my konami card in years! My old locals has had me for 12ish years, i dont think they will randomly be asking for it anytime soon😂
However, im not sure about my new local (about 45 minute drive away) needing it. I may have to get a new one
@TeamAPS can one go to these Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments as a spectator?
You can! Most regionals and even YCS events are free to enter and spectate, trade, etc.
A sltiner if you’re playing advance you need to know how long your oppenents turns are when they win wombo combo
I use the ultra pro m2 deck box and ultra pro eclipse matte sleeves
Oooo where can I get that blue hex playmat?? It’s very nice but I can’t find it anywhere online. Thanks!
I just play locals in Mexico, but I have yet to meet someone with a field center.
I dont know if this is a german thing, but don't you need a written decklist of the cards you play. Or does that come with the registration for the tournament in the us ? unless its a casual local tournament you need one here
I suppose the implication is that you submit your list through the registration app
I don't think they're actually issuing those cards anymore, you're expected to just use Neuron now, at the very least I can't get one at my local store, and they're an OTS.
Genuine question
My Kaiba Legendary Collection 2018 came with a foldabled "Game Board". It has all the proper zones but it is raise up because of its Game Board nature. Am I allowed to use it at tournaments?
Maybe they'd let you, but I wouldn't recommend it. It'll wear very quickly.
hmm, i remember watching this kind of video from you guys years ago
Always wondered about that dice set of like 5 I saw in one of your vids. Knowing its from Ultra Pro finally helped me find it shame that they only have the 2 set one and whoo boy $36 just for that two dice set yeah no thanks.
Hey guys, could you possibly make a video about the ultimate conductor deck vs any other deck
I would bring a backpack personally. Think itd be a pain to carry all of that by hand
I don't have a trade binder but I do have a trade box does that count?
I really need it
How are your cards so perfect lol
5:09 get me some of those will quick
Some great tips and gems in here.
Is OTS the only way to get a Konami card? Can you order one online?
That Graceful Charity box 💨😱😫😫😫
That Yugi Kaiba sleeves are too glosssssy😅
That Anniversary Deck bock is TOO TINY😅
Too true😂 that deck box barely holds 45-50? Double sleeve cards.
I recommend a deckbox used for Pokemon/ Magic those can hold 80 cards double sleeve
Debating on going to my first locals in over 10 years tomorrow…. Still haven’t decided idk how competitive they are there
You ahould go. Best thing i ever did was start going back. Find the more chill local some of them are super sweaty. You will meet cool people and have dueling buds plus the OTS packs are bonus
Definitely go! It's always worth finding out the answer for yourself!
Hey u now I got ur attention can the small deck boxes fit yugi deck Joey deck or kaiba deck
of course you are not going to bring deodorant because why would you need that?
And don't forget to bring your gold or silver coin. I can never enter tournaments since I easily get stressed out. Even playing can be stressful. This is why I retired from playing games in general. I do, however, enjoy collecting cards.

I recently went to my first ever locals! It was fun, and I actually won a game (my opponent conceded, but still). I'm conflicted about going back though because, while the people I played against acted fine enough, the staff at the store were dicks. Maybe it was just me, but it felt like they were just impatient, grumpy people (I asked if they had any packs of Toon Chaos and they practically bit my head off with snark). Also, "locals" is quite the misnomer, at least in my area. I think the three nearest OTS stores are between 5-10 miles from me. Dunno if that's common
What kinda sleeves are accepted? I got plain black sleeves
I'd also recmmend alcoholic wipes, in case yu choose chocolate as your choice of food. If yur hands get sticky from the chocolate, you might end up leaving fingerprints on your cards, and might get accused either with marking cards, or get hit with the hygene rule. After chocolate, always clean your hands before you touch your cards. Alcoholic wipes like the ones I use to keep my electronics, like monitors, keyboard, and mouse clean do wonderfully well against most stuff I encountered. That said, they're not as effective against liquids, so if you spill your drink, they will not be as useful for that. For that, you might want to bring some dry ones.
Edit: Also, the type of deckbox you've shown in the end (the official one) (albeit, with an Elemental Hero design, not the 25th anniversary one) is the same type I use. It's terrible. Getting the deck in and out of it is a massive pain, and I didn't even double sleeve mine. That'd make the cards even wider. The ones you've shown when talking about deckboxes in particular as a product, were leagues better, but no dubt also more expensive.
Isn't this like the 5th time this exact same video is made just with different words?
Pretty much, but I'm still watching again regardless
@mancomanga and it's one that rewards being creative
Last time they didn’t mention the deck itself.
@hexa2991 I'm just now getting into the TCG so the guide is helpful. Don't be a hater
@@TonyRigamarollaRoni I'm really not. I'm just sad to see the creativity run dry. Check out their older videos and skits!
could u make a video on how to play modern yu-gi-oh ? thanks
My card got damaged awhile back, not sure if it can be replaced :(
I thought I would have been safe playing yugioh and away from sweaty Call of duty players. But we all know there’s no running from the sweaties.
Where can I find those Ulti Ego card sleeves ???? Those look really cool
www.mstmerch.com/
Idk why the double sleeved cards only fit like 55 cards not 80 in the 80 but that’s just my experience
Yeah it's part of why I don't do the double sleeve on my entire deck. But it works fine if you've got one of the larger deck boxes.
Watching this before going to locals!
Is that possible to take My deckbox Bluetooth i'm the locals? Is like yours i'm your shorts video that one You said that can play music wireless.
Hi can i ask you a question?can i use in a yugioh tournament or regionals any colors of dragon shield sleeves right?
Yes!

I miss theses videos
7:20 You can also use dices to mark counters, like; If one card has 2 spell counters, you can put dice top of that card in way that, dice shows number 2, to both players. Or you can even use counters to track number of turns, if you need to.
Also, if you need to flip a coin, you can also do that with dice, at least in games with friends (i don't know can you do this in tournaments), if you don't like to flip coins. Example: Roll dice, even is Heads, odd is Tails.
What if I lost my Konami ID card, can I not go to a regionals or YCS anymore?
Paul play fire like the rest of us lol 😂😂
Sigh... Voiceless maybe
I can use custom sleeves like animes sleeves?
are you allowed to keep token cards in your deck box?
Yes
Yep! But nothing else (like stray actual cards)
This was cool

where do i find the play mat???
Where can I get that blue link playmat?
I actually ordered mine on eBay, so you might have some luck there. It's the YCS London 2017 pre-registration mat. Yeah they're not the best in terms of durability. Double sleeving is a must for them!
