WTA ‘management’ at its best. It is not good idea to put a 1000 event 2 weeks after the US Open and then a mandatory 1000 event half way around the world 2 weeks later (Beijing). Guess what only 3 of the top 10 players entered as the rest were resting for Beijing and the WTA Final at the end of October.
Nevertheless, it is poor form to say Maria had it easy to win a 1000 event. She shown that she still got some fight left in her. Prior to Guadalajara she looked out of contention for the WTA final but now she is in clear 9th spot and could still make the WTA final displacing either Muchova or Jabeur.

Kvitova? she literally refused sunshine double to Rybakina, WTF... Cirstea made a slam QF this year...
Radwanska vs Petkovic was match of the year... She literally won Premier900 Tokyo a week before Beijing, beating players like Kerber/Jankovic/Kanepi/Azarenka/Zvonareva in a row...
She went from 15 to 8 in rankings in 2 weeks without a break for rest

I always believe while muguruza is talented, most of her big successes seem to have come with bit of luck too, in 2016 serena was struggling with consistency after dominant years of 2012-15, similarly I feel in wimbledon 2017, she won because venus was not able to give her best the way she did in previous rounds. Her impressive runs I would say was cincinnati 2017 and may be china 2015, although I didn't follow China Open 2015.

Rybakina has improved since then while Sabalenka has regressed a little but Rybakina has been injured and sick basically the whole season since Dubai so Sabalenka has done better overall in this season.
If Rybakina plays like she has been in China and gets to Sabalenka then she should win in straight sets and probably win Beijing.
