Possibly the most underrated unappreciated composer of all time.
What's truly remarkable about Yuja is the extensive repertoire she has amassed in such a short time. All these richly complex works. What a mind to maintain it all!
This is one of the most beautiful performances of Op.11 #11. And all are played with great insight.
It's difficult for me to simply sit here and perceive what this young lady is doing, and she's DOING it! Magnificent.

It's not genetics, it's practice and hard work. My piano teacher's mom was Lang Lang's teacher, and she always had parents coming to her asking to make their child play like him. However, when she started demanding the hard work and long hours from the parents as well they often thought twice.

Yes she sometimes wears short dresses, stilletos and feathers in her hair. But she can back it all up with wonderful playing. She is young and fun, she is having a good time and the audience's are overwhelming enjoying her performances. She adds a lot of color and excitement to an artform that can be very staid and sleepy. Good for her! Those who criticize her are either prudes or just jealous. She is helping to generate interest in classical music in her own special way and that can't be bad.

Well how would you feel if Yuja was 70 years old and performing?? Would you still like to watch her play because her music is so beautiful? Hope so.
Bravo, Yuja Wang! The art to play Scriabin is to follow closely the score and avoid any expression of sentimentality, and especially rubati that are not written in the score by the composer. Yuja Wang does it all in the most authentic manner, as the score is holy to her. The second and fourth pieces-op. 13, 6 (Prelude) and op. 8, 9 (Etude)- she plays, we know them all so well from Horowitz who 'hammered' them down. She doesn't, but nonetheless gets the drama out of them, while she doesn't overdo the dynamics. That's musical taste, a very good and even quintessential example of it!

I'm entranced by how still she is during the quiet parts of the piece. At several points I checked to make sure the video was still playing.
I think Yuja rocks the dress as well as the selections from Scriabin, neither of which are easy to do.
There are plenty of videos of Yuja as a girl which portray her accordingly, & now that she is a woman, it is her prerogative to dress as she sees fit, & her dress in this video is as provocative as the music, just as her interpretation of Scriabin shares the same delicate beauty which she radiates abundantly. No music lover test here, only respect & admiration for Yuja's many gifts.
Wow a VERY YOUNG BEAUTIFUL ASIAN girl who plays like she is a part of the piano, she is just wonderful and an inspiration to all of us really.... I hope I get to hear her in concert some day... Jm
Some of these pieces are so intimate they should be played in a Salon. I do like her interpretation. She is very good.

These Scriabin pieces are beautiful and very difficult. Miss Wang plays them brilliantly and is drop dead gorgeous as well. Aint nuthin wrong with that !

Wow...I have never heard of this "Scriabin" fellow before...I definitely like his music...too bad he is so underrated and obscure composers that no one knows of.

If you read about her tour schedule she seriously works all the time, and is constantly learning new pieces, traveling around the world performing with different orchestras or on the phone in her free time talking to musicians she wants to collaborate with. Truly an amazing, hardworking artist!
@ungava100 I agree on both. I learned the Op.32/1 many years ago, back in a time when I was exploring all of Scriabin's music, but I could never play it like this. Op.11/11 is above my technique level, but she has revealed something I never heard before, and it's wonderful!
